  1. Not to tell you how to mod, but, he's only challenging the reasoning or logic of a statement. We all lay on the snark here.
  2. They can't be "done with it" until they can get rid of them. That's the point. And "rebuilding" isn't the same as "tearing it down". You can rebuild around a core. A tear down removes the core. Which do you really mean?
  3. Keslar, Perry and Getzlaf aren't going anywhere. At most, until those contracts are gone, they can only tear down around those guys. I would view a "tear down" as rebuilding the core.
  4. Something, something about alpha males.
  5. Also, the Kane trade was designed, in part, to aid The Tank. In a vacuum, this trade is relatively common, so, you can say even Darcy would make a trade like this. But when the details and context are factored in, this definitely smells like something JBot would do, for the reasons noted in the thread and elsewhere - which is not to say GMTM or any other GM wouldn't do this deal, just that there really is no surprise here.
  6. Are we done? There is no movement in the Force.
  7. Good ones?
  8. There is still too much dump-n-chase, Sméagol. ~ Master Frodo
  9. This is an interesting article: https://www.diebytheblade.com/2019/2/24/18239015/assess-brendan-guhle-trade-buffalo-sabres-brandon-montour-anaheim-ducks-thoughts-comments-reaction Not only were Leafs fans/media interested in him, apparently Penguins fans/media were, too. I've not seen a lot of commentary on this, but his zone entries and exits drives possession which is something the Sabres sorely need. Hopefully with Montour we'll see a lot less dump-n-chase.
  10. All their big D took a step back this year, apparently, so it's something team-wide. I think a D-man like Montour might actually like the idea of the Sabres because of Housley's system; being active offensively has to be more interesting. We have Dahlin, Eichel, Skinner (for now), we're coming out of a rebuild with a modern system and owners with a rep for spending money and desperate for a Cup. Also, I think our "hockey town" rep is strong. Other than constant sun and flip-flops, there's a lot here to like for a hockey player.
  11. If we can trade one of Sheary, Scandella or Sobotka straight up for Vanek that would be great.
  12. Looks like the pundits are all over the place with this trade. I would love to see the Athletic round-table on it but don't have a subscription. Anyone who has one can you provide an executive summary?
  13. Ice time? Commitment? Good locker room guy? Team leader?
  14. If Risto moves, we get a 1st at the same level and some other decent piece, at least. I think all it does, at worst, is put us back where we were before the Montour trade, future-looking-wise.
  15. Bogo and Risto have, and this is without looking it up, nearly the same sense in passing/clearing the zone. Of the two, I'd much rather Bogo be on his way out. I like Risto for his intangibles as well.
  16. I think this is a great use of that pick. Makes the future look a little less far away.
  17. Ryan Stimson @RK_Stimp FWIW a team analyst told me he's good and they have access to shiny toys we don't, so perhaps we'll be pleasantly surprised.
  18. Well that's it. The trade's a bust and we'll hear about it for the next four years.
  19. Let's see, how about a roster D man is likely to get moved out of here before July 4th. Maybe before noon Monday.
  20. Googled it for ya... https://www.google.com/maps/place/Brantford,+ON,+Canada/@43.1952131,-80.5424682,9.24z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x882c65e278ea730f:0x353da5a5a466f9e0!8m2!3d43.1393867!4d-80.2644254
  21. Dude's from Brantford. I betchya he's gonna luv it here.
  22. Then I think we're saying buh-bye to either Risto or McCabe. Probably Risto.
