  1. I said streaky only referring to this year, which he had a terrible cold spell followed by his recent hot production. Your characterization is probably more accurate.
  2. Any word on the lines expected for tonight? Do we get to see O'Regan or more of the same?
  3. Anywho - do we know if Danny is playing tonight or was this callup purely for emergency forward reasons?
  4. That's what I gathered as well. So the early struggles look to be more tangible than just fewer games played. And we can basically ignore the 1's and 2's in the last month as there are only a handful of games. Looks like last year was incredibly consistent where this year has been far more hot/cold streaky.
  5. Interesting. For clarification, what are the # of games in each of the months (Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr)? Looking at this years schedule every month was basically full except April (only 4 games), and October started 10/5 so it was mostly a full month. How do we get those October 4pt months in line with the rest of the year?
  6. The real question is whether the rating happened before or after said act. Hate to get only 3 stars just because you're a bad lay...
  7. Which reminds me, when do we no longer have to look at his hideous Austin Matthews avatar? Also, thread has been open for 9 hours and still no pin? Sign of the times man. :bag:
  8. I don't know whether or not you should tip an Uber driver or not, as I don't use the service often. But that is a pretty cool sign - as a rider I would appreciate the creativity
  9. Someone's a bit bitter over something that happened nearly 20 years ago.
  10. He is still only 22 years old, so I would assert that what you see could be actual development. In no way do I think he is a "what you see is what you get" type of player yet. I think there are only two logical thought processes: 1) You think he will only get better and want to lock in his cap hit at lower than his future market value by signing a long term extension. Something like $5-5.5MM over 6-7 years. Risky in that he could become Stafford, but could payoff and have a cheap 1st liner for years to come. 2) You aren't sure his recent strong play is real, or you believe he is too inconsistent and needs to prove it before the Sabres invest in a long term deal. You sign a bridge deal for $3.5MM for 2 years and revisit his progress in 2020. Risk is he becomes a star and commands $8MM+ on the market, but this insulates the Sabres from potential regression.
  11. Given the 1pm start and everyone traveling, I think a location inside the arena to meet up would be preferable. Something obvious enough to find and close to our seats (which are all in the 100 level if I remember).
  12. Comp picks are extra picks assigned by the NFL that are given at the end of draft rounds to compensate for free agents lost in the prior year. They don't come from any particular team.
  13. To that point - remember when we were all questioning whether we should trade ROR because of his struggles? Once Sam & ROR were consistently paired up they have both improved tremendously.
  14. i would agree with that. I didn't see gradual improvement throughout the year. I saw a few months of sucking followed by a few months of ppg excellent play. There was no middle ground.
  15. That is true. I don't have all the answers man. :flirt:
  16. I would agree with a lot of this, especially as the variability averages out over the season with multiple samples. I think PDO helps explain the events in one game, like the Toronto-Buffalo game last night, but over the course of a full season you need to be doing something special to maintain a positive average
  17. I fear if that was the interpretation of the rule, the larsson goal would have been called back. I think that's a good goal, so I want to ensure the way we write the rule wouldn't negate valid goals from my perspective.
  18. One point - isn't this another signing like Vontae that doesn't count against the compensatory pick calculation? Ivory was released mid-season.
  19. Well that's better than Tolbert as RB2. Let's hope he has enough left to be the thunder to McCoy's lightning.
  20. Unfortunately, early on it looked like we might be able to get a steal in contract terms because of his poor play, but his play lately is making a good counterpoint to a more lucrative contract. The real difficulty for Botterill is to determine which one of the two Reinhart players we have seen this year is closer to the real thing. I'm hoping it's Samson 2.0, as that would be huge for the future. To add: When we first drafted Jack & Sam we talked about a comparison to Chicago's Kane & Toews. We were quickly discouraged as Sam's side looked less and less like Toews, but if Sam is more 60-70 pt player as opposed to 40 pts, the outlook for the Sabres future is much different.
  21. I think Sam Reinhart's play over the last 20 games deserves it's own thread. He has played at a point per game pace over the last 22-23 games and is starting to have the impact a #2 overall is expected to have on team success. The question is why is he suddenly playing so well when the first half of the year we were all ready to trade him (or at least frustrated) over his slow start. 1) Is it because of Jack's injury that now Sam is getting more offensive opportunities and capitalizing? 2) Is it the comfort level with Housley's system that forced a learning period and now the team is more comfortable? 3) Was Kane a distraction on our young players and once he checked out/got traded they focused back on playing hockey? 4) Is it all just a mirage and the team as a whole will regress back to the same crap team we have seen? 4) Was it everyone's favorite poster changing their user name to #SamsonsFlow and Reinhart not wanting to let me down? (unlike the countless disappointments that I chose before him) :nana: 6) All of the above or a combination of a few? If Sam can keep this up and continue to build on his recent play, I think we may be closer to having a competent roster next year than what we may have thought earlier in the year?
  22. #SamsonsFlow
  23. I too thought that was too ambiguous, so I proposed both skates/pads touching the blue paint of the crease. That's the only clear and definitive rule I could come up with.
  24. There was a theme to Baywatch? I guess I never noticed
