  1. And on the one that sent it to OT, he carried it into & through the zone, sent it to the point then got it back under pressure and backhanded it to a now open Quinn. It was a very nice play overall & without him doing the work to get it into the zone Quinn doesn't get the puck w/ the space to make the really nice pass to Okposo who took a great shot.
  2. Which is fair. Now that they AREN'T being forced into 2nd line duty it very well could happen. Not saying it will, but it can happen. Getting matchups where they aren't flat out overmatched will help. Getting points in this 3rd scoring line / 4th line overall ice time usage should build their confidence which seemed to take a hit w/ the demotion. They SHOULD be able to thrive in this new role. Will they? We shall see.
  3. Got no problem w/ Skinner defending his goalie. Stinks he got the stick up.
  4. When's the last time Crosby & Malkin both took penalties in the same game?
  5. Don't believe so. Just coming out of the PK Krebs stayed on the ice a bit long & Tuch was already coming off the ice about the time Thompson got on the ice, so it looked like all the lines were mixed up.
  6. On TV agree w/ you. They seem to almost be reverse retros of the 80's era Czechoslovakia or even the old CCCP Red Army unis. But seen them in person twice & they're really sharp in rink. My 2 cents, YMMV.
  7. Keep saying the goalie is supposed to be their best PKer. Sometimes he's the worst.
  8. That was Heather Engel's lines, NOT the lines put out by the Sabres. She also thinks that Quinn is the RW & Peterka is the LW on the Cozterkinn line. Not the case; they play their off wings. The Sabres, as they have every game since Joisey have the Mittelstadt line listed as the 3rd line. Through the 1st period, for the 1st time since Joisey they seemed to be played as the 3rd again. Yes, his was the 4th line in reality the last few games but per the Sabres it was the 3rd.
  9. And Anderson gets some ache from practice that he just doesn't feel right playing through should there happen to coincidentally be 2 other NHLers on the roster. Who's to say a 41 yo DOESN'T have an ache keeping him out of action? And should one of those keepers go down, who's to argue should he decide to try to battle through it?
  10. Wasn't sure if it would be you or Inky hitting that meatball out of the park. 😉
  11. STOP BRINGING UP SMEHLIK! 😉
  12. And, in that world, you can have the true analog of the Roy-Afinogenov-Vanek line in the form of the Cozterkinn line. Eichel probably gets Skinner & Okposo for now and That 70's Line gets reprised. Mittelstadt, Girgensons, & Hinostroza make up the misfits 4th line. That would be a fun team. (Assumes the Reinhart trade still happens too.)
  13. Shh, not so loud. Maybe the Yotes haven't noticed. (That fan certainly hasn't.) 😉 Well this deal would bring them back the 31st pick. That's 1st round, right? 😉
  14. They are. They definitely are. But thinking about it, maybe the plan is to essentially be an updated 80's Eulers. And maybe they are instilling the D into the practices but aren't planning on using it in games unless they actually need it. I.e., if they know they can outscore the opponent, why kill themselves playing D? Those Euler teams freewheeling though the entire '82-'83 season & got crushed by the Aisles. That next year, they still freewheeled but bore down against the Aisles who had just been through 3 much harder series getting there than Edmonton had faced. Calgary was tougher because of the rivalry but it was still fairly wide open hockey. And that attitude - freewheel when you can, play responsible when you must won them 5 in 7 years. And also drew fans everywhere. No, don't really expect that'd the true plan, but wouldn't be surprised if there's a hint of truth to it. Meaning, they'll always go on the attack when it looks "right" & they'll always look for it, but they might be a bit more cautious and not "go for it" at absolutely every opportunity. They're going to view giving up scoring chances as the price for generating a #### ton of scoring chances of their own. Which would put them in the position of treating goalies like RBs in the NFL. Get a young one that is good enough, beat the snot out of him for 3 or so years then after the flesh is picked off his carcass go back & find another one. In which case they probably will follow that Cane model of goalie by committee. (Sorry, just random associating at this point. It's Friday & was a long week.)
  15. Was going to say until they start focusing on playing less of an all out attacking style they'll continue to give up high danger chances. A good goalie will cover more ills than a better D-man, but then thought about where the 5v5 goals are coming from. Still will say a goalie would do more. But upgrading w/ a 4 knocking at least the 7 out of the lineup & hopefully soon the 6 as Lyubushkin recovers, would reduce the goals given up off of breakouts. It wouldn't help THAT much w/ transition goals & they already don't seem to give up THAT many cycle goals, so it wouldn't really help all that much there either. But, yeah, the D upgrade would help some, & w/ this offense maybe that's enough?
  16. Then Anderson assumes his current role until the injured guy is healthy & then he mysteriously retweaks that injury originally sustained in practice & goes back on IR. Lather - Rinse - Repeat as necessary.
  17. Probably a BJ fan that lost a bet. 😉 PS - yes, realize you aren't in OH.
  18. Anderson suffers a mysterious tweak in practice & goes on IR. If Comrie or other goalie get hurt in 1st week of Andy's IR stint then UPL gets one more crack at backup until the 7th day has passed when Anderson miraculously recovers. He wouldn't be on LTIR, so nobody would be all that upset at the "blatant circumvision" of the 23 player limit.
  19. Expect the fan that proposed the deal figures AZ also wants of bit of tank protection which is why Vejmelka was included.
