I think this is a guy Adams wanted all along. This fits his quote where he said he didn’t want someone necessarily ready for next year, but they would be the player they wanted in the future.
That’s not right. By definition, the defenseman left available were approximately the fourth or fifth defenseman on each team. If he supposed to be in the cusp of being our number six or number seven, then he should rightfully not make that team.
This isn’t even mildly funny to be a joke. My only guess is that it is a smart ass remark, but that wouldn’t make sense because you would have to literally disregard the actual comment to make such an utterly pointless remark.
Every year the last place team should have the choice of releasing everybody from their contract and doing an expansion draft or getting the first pick.
