it was great... The play went back and forth all night long. Hard hitting, great goaltending (miller let in some softies), OT drama, Sydney michael vick Crosby got shut out. GREAT GREAT victory for a team playing its 4th game in 6 nights. 3-1-0 for the sabres. I'm starting to get that feeling.

I'm starting to get that feeling.

That "Holy crap it's almost 10 PM and I haven't even started my History paper that's due tomorrow" feeling? B-)

I like what I've seen (Ottawa game excluded) and they sounded pretty good tonight. It's a long season, but it's nice to ice a team that can flat out play. Good job Sabres!

Other than a stretch in the mid to late 3rd, the Sabres dominated that game ... Fleury kept Pittsburgh in it, but with all the posts and such, poetic justice that the Sabres got the 2 points. Kalinin was good in his return. Vanek has to get one soon or he is going to REALLY start pressing, but he is a factor in every game.

I know they have a ton of offensive talent, but I was talking to a Pens fan friend of mine after the 1st period and even he doesn't see how the "experts" are picking that team to make the playoffs easily and make a run... the defense is horrible.... the best thing that happened to them was Thibault gtting hurt because Fleury is their best goalie.

Miller had a solid night ... the tying goal was bad, no doubt, but he bounced back. I think they need to get Biron a game at some point soon just to get him feeling the puck, but I am very happy with Miller so far.

No disrespect, because it still scared me when he had the puck in the Sabres end, but Lemieux looks 40. 40-year old superstar who can still do things no one else can at times, but he looks old. He got bumped off the puck repeatedly in the Pittsburgh end and just does not look healthy ... another -3 night ... is it time for him to be a PP specialist on that team?

a nice W, especially considering that the Pens have some high profile names on their roster!

They do, and Recchi was probably the biggest contributor of their veterans all night. Lyle Odelein provided his usual rough play. John LeClair was pretty much a non-factor all night, and BtP covered Mario's performance. Other than a stretch in the middle 3rd period, we just skated circles around the Pens, and continued the all-out assault on the net. The score really belies the number of quality chances they had and the number of saves Fleury made.

I was glad to see us ram home the winner in OT, because I didn't like our chances in a shootout against Fleury. And, with Ryan's ability to allow soft goals, that could have spelled disaster for a game that we dominated. The 4-on-4 OT is definitely an advantage for our skaters.
