Attending Away Games

I am planning to catch the Sabres/Panthers game down in Florida in February this year.

Any good recommendations of places to go before or after the game, unique to the area or connected to the Sabres?

Does anyone have any other away games on their agenda or have good away game recommendations? I'm looking to try catching some more away games in the years ahead and want to get planning.

Been to a dozen or so games at Verizon Center in DC and that was always fun (although their fans don't know squat so it's a bit annoying to watch a game with their hyper reactions).

What are you looking for? Shopping? Clubs? Bars? Beaches?

Canes tickets are cheap too, like Panthers. Maybe a trip to see the Biltmore and a Canes game would be fun.

No matter how you slice it, you'll be going right through Winston-Salem, NC which is the home of Old Salem. http://www.oldsalem.org/visit.html If you like Biltmore, I'm sure you will appreciate Old Salem. The food there is excellent, so you might want to visit one early afternoon and have lunch at The Tavern.

The only away game I've ever been to was also in DC, and it happened to be the game in 07 when the Sabres clinched the presidents trophy. I'm inclined to agree with the hyper reactions comment as well.

Welcome.

I have a couple of recommendations:

1. Sold-out arenas in passionate hockey markets are much better, IMHO, than half-empty arenas where no one gives a crap. So: Philly, Rangers, Montreal, Minnesota, Boston, maybe Nashville, etc.

2. If you want to wear a Sabres jersey and/or cheer for the Sabres, sit in the lower bowl. The meatheads who are willing to start something usually are in the upper deck.

3. Wait until noon on game day and then buy your tickets on Stubhub.

Enjoy!

Couldn't agree more, especially with #1, winnipeg is quite the experience, probably the loudest.
