I was messing for the most part. I disagree with what you said, but I don't think I'm any more qualified to generate an opinion than you are. The only one I don't think is logical is the Stafford comment. :P
I got a Satfford Slug logo jersey a few years ago. I would prefer if he emerged as a beautiful butterfly so that I can wear the jersey with pride.
The look on chara's face is priceless, this has made my day, i can go to sleep happy :D
Especially because he stopped skating on the play. THAT was priceless.

There's so much deep hockey knowledge on this forum. I'm just a fan. I don't have any great insight, and I know it.

Players from tonight and whether they will be on the Sabres next year (my idiotic opinion):
Matt D'Agostini Yes- limited talent, lots of hustle
Matt Ellis No- decent character guy, but more of an AHLer
Brian Flynn Yes- good hockey sense
Marcus Foligno Yes- but mostly because he's a legacy. Next year is make or break
Zemgus Girgensons Yes- the captain
Cody Hodgson Yes- great talent, will develop his hockey sense under Nolan
Ville Leino No- Buyout
Cody McCormick No- will remain in the organization in Rochester as a frequent callup
Matt Moulson Yes- comes back as a free agent after getting traded
Steve Ott Yes- never ends up getting traded, signs a new contract, but no longer the captain
John Scott Yes- as a 7th Dman
Drew Stafford Yes- Nolan will make him a true NHL star
Christian Ehrhoff No- will be a piece of a trade
Jamie McBain Yes- The QB of the PP
Tyler Myers Yes- period.
Alex Sulzer No- If he's still with the organization, will be in the AHL
Henrik Talinder No- Just... no.
Mike Weber No- another trade piece
Jhoneas Enroth Yes- but still as a backup
Ryan Miller No- doesn't look back after being traded

I'm in Orlando on business this week, so it's basically shirtsleeve weather. Texas was cold, a little icy when I left, to the point that they were deicing the planes.
But by the time I get back it should be getting up to the 60s and by the weekend, into the 70s.

Brad May has come a long way this year. It was painful to listen to him back in October. He does a creditable job now. Roby's done a good job bringing him along.

When I watch western conference games in particular, the puck battles behind the net turn into ###### wars. It seems the lightly skilled but gritty and determined wingers like Ellis are more effective in today's NHL than the highly skilled finesse guys like Omark... unless they have world-class skill, which unfortunately Omark does not.
As I read that, when you got the point of naming Ellis, my mind had already thought of Girgensons. Girgs isn't producing a lot of points, but dang is he effective with the puck. He's like Ennis, but not as cute and a lot harder to knock off the puck (although Ennis has improved a lot in that respect too).

Don't think we are done with him, they send him down to get more of a look at him. Keep him playing, he has untill the end of the season to turn it around.

Hudler and Filppula are both very good players -- Detroit's error wasn't in drafting them, it was in letting them go.
They are very good players. But they were second fiddles to Zetterberg and Datsyuk, so they took their acts on the road.

There is a lot of variety in the housing within a reasonable drive of most of the metro area- everything from downtown lofts to historic city homes to post-war suburbia to suburban sprawl to acreage. If he's moving there for work, find out where his office is and maybe I can steer him toward some areas to look at.

Where in DFW? If it's on the Fort Worth side, I can maybe give him some tips on neighborhoods.
Oh, and if it's on the Fort Worth side, he needs to know about Buffalo Bros. It's a bar near TCU; the owner's from Buffalo and he "imports" Genny Creme, Labbatt's Molson's, Sahlens, Bison Brand dip, loganberry drink, etc. And if he's up toward the north end of DFW Airport, there's a Duff's up there.

This thread depresses me. We are in the very infant stages of looking at houses. I figure that we may be ready by late fall. I just want to get the experience of looking at places now so that I'm a seasoned vet once we're really ready. But anyway, the reason why the thread depresses me. I've seen a few price tags thrown around. You should see what it is like out here in Boston. Anything even remotely decent is going to start with a price tag right around $400k. I have no idea how so many people make that work.
Yeah, I've been reading this thread too and wondering if I want to stay put. We've been in our home for 17 years and want to change neighborhoods. So not only do we need to go through all the angst of buying a home, we also have to sell our current home first. And it needs some work. So on top of all the buying headaches, I have the fix up and sell headaches too, and the headaches of deciding whether to buy on contingency or to just rent for 6 months or a year to get the sale completely done before buying a new one (which means moving twice). The good news, at least, is that I'm in Fort Worth where the bubble never really overinflated home prices. I can get everything I want for $300k but if I'm picky/willing to compromise on some things, I may be able to find something to make me happy in the $150k-200k range. Basically I want to move from 1980s suburban sprawl to a historic city neighborhood.(where the wife and I spend much of our social time anyway).

Also, I don't know if you're handy or not(I'm certainly not!) But learn to be if you aren't. Expand your tool collection slowly and learn how to do things yourself. You will save thousands and it feels great being able to do projects yourself.
Best way to learn that I've found is to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. You get to see how a house is put together from the start, and many chapters offer classes (toward their leadership program) in home building that will give you a good primer. Since you're volunteering for them, the instruction is essentially free.

Counter to Eleven's first statement: Use a realtor who is patient with you (will not be irritated taking you to see LOTS of homes) and less likely to worry about whether your purchase is too small a fish to bother angling for. Age really has nothing to do with this; it's a question of personality. We had a realtor in Detroit who was in his 50s and he was the most awesome realtor EVAR. He still sends us a Christmas card and we moved from there in '97.

Give Leino every opportunity to show what he can bring before buying him out.
After years of watching Detroit. I'm convinced that they just kind of got lucky with Zetterberg and Datsyuk.
Hard to find that consistently....but you only need to find that once every 10 years.
Their next version of that were Hudler and Filppula. They looked like the next big thing a few years ago, but then never got to that next level (maybe because Datsyuk and Zetter had too much of a lock on the prime minutes). And they both moved on to other teams.

I HATE Emrick. I was in Detroit when Strader was their play-by-play guy. He's a good play-by-play guy. Although I have to admit that they were in story-telling mode when Girgs scored. Whoops.
