  1. Honestly, they should do the John Scott movie like The Princess Bride, where an old, grizzled grandpa is telling the story to his grandkids.  The grandpa, of course, will be played by Scott himself, and in the end the kids won't believe any of it.  That would be an awesome way to tell the story.

  2. I find a couple of hidden gems here and there, but most of the decent stuff isn't in my general area. Certainly not something close enough to bike to on a casual ride.

Fort Worth isn't known as particularly bike friendly, but I can ride 10 miles or so in most directions and do so in relative safety.  The nice thing is that the neighborhoods flow from one into the next I can take side streets most of the way.  Within that radius there's a pretty good mix of restaurants ranging from those run by cable-famous chefs (like Tim Love, although I'm not much of a fan of his), to Taco trailers where you can get a taco for a buck or so.

  3. He's saying we still don't have the facilities for it, but I'm not sure he's right.  I'm also not sure he's wrong.

Our convention center is a joke.

That said, what are all the "ancillary activities" that the NHL has for its all-star game?  It's not the Super Bowl.

Just for comparison sake, I looked up the Fort Worth Convention Center:  253,226 sq. ft. of exhibit space with a 13,000 seat attached arena.  And the word here is that it's not adequate; they're looking into building a new off-site arena and adding that space into the Convention Center as a grand ballroom that can be reconfigured into more exhibit space.

Buffalo Convention Center:  110,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space.  And Fort Worth isn't even a major league city.  Maybe some of Mr. Wilson's economic development money should be spent to bring the Buffalo Convention Center up to snuff.

  4. Doubt he'd ever work as a "real" engineer, but there would be a ton of companies that would want him as a sales engineer & would pay him a good $. That is, if he can't line up a network gig. Maybe that's the reason Milbury was an unusually large DB towards him - he sees his phony baloney job is on the line & he'd better give the Bettman a 'harumph.'

The guy was made for TV.  He's witty, thinks quick on his feet, speaks good English, and has a legitimate claim to both the American and Canadian markets.  He could be the lightning in a bottle the NHL could use to market the game to the U.S.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got one more season in the NHL just based on the good vibes he generated, perhaps for another warm weather hockey city that's looking for someone to hang their hat on to boost attendance while they rebuild.

  5. Must be nice to live somewhere where there is a nice selection of places to eat.

I used to view Ft Worth as a land of chain restaurants. I started looking around and noticed there are a lot of local places too. If your local newspaper has a food critic, follow him on Facebook. It's a good way to see what's around.
