  1. It's the old joke about the old bull and the young bull standing atop a hill, gazing down on a pasture of cows that are "in season." Except in this case, Lindy's both the old bull and young(er) bull. And he's not looking to literally shtup anyone, afaik. Someone here posted a stat about how Power's long pass completion rate from the d-zone (or something) was near the very top of the league this season.
  2. Read the story that PA wrote in May 2006, linked above.
  3. The lore is out there. But not the video clip.
  4. Hello, friend. I tried using Google to locate the video. I searched "sabrespace" "lindy" "stick" -- but got too many hits. As an unexpected reward, though, I also got this as a first hit. If you haven't read it, do yourself a favour and read it now (or soon). And excuse the formatting glitches that time has visited on the post.
  5. Anyone know where to locate that video of Lindy instructing Sabres at a practice by, among other things, taking his stick and whacking it against a player's helmet? (Taylor Pyatt, maybe?) It was the subject of some debate here, years gone by. As I recall, Lindy's actions seemed to have been triggering for a former regular poster here.
  6. Gotcha. I'd be surprised if Lindy had 3 or more years left on his Devils deal. My guess is that a no double dipping clause would, if carefully drafted, anticipate a scenario where the remaining term on a Devils deal could outlast the term on a subsequent deal (and then likewise wipe out the Devils' obligation to pay in that event). YMMV, as @Taro T often says.
  7. Good question. I'd guess no more than 2. There should be (?) setoff/offset language in the Devils' contract (i.e., no double dippin'). Also: Shoutout to a DEAL WITH THE DEVIL.
  8. A 2-year deal? That's interesting, actually. You hear that coaches don't want to be lame ducks. Isn't that what happened with Granato when he got extended in early 2023 through 2025-2026? Lindy will start out in the penultimate year of his deal. Hmm. Bets being hedged? On both sides?
  9. Right on. I just confirmed that we got our pig cuts from Native Offerings. Now, do yourself another favour and take a listen to the mighty Del Paxton (the members of whom are likely now your neighbours). No idea what this music video's about, and I sorta like it that way.
  10. Lol - ironically, with our household now being much smaller, we don't subscribe like we used to. Our produce farm share was always through our church -- it was from the Porter family farm in Genesee County. I think they've since branched out to doing meats as well. They may be WNY's "OG" CSA. I would vouch for them, for sure. When the kids were young, we would visit the farm at some point following harvest -- just to catch a vibe. https://www.porterfarms.org/about-us We also used Native Offerings at times - some produce, some beef. I'll have to ask my wife where we had our pig share for a few years. Because that was my favourite CSA we ever participated in -- loins, tenderloins, chops, bacon -- good lord.
  11. Hope for the best.
  12. Candidate to be the poster child for the mediocrity of this particular Sabres team. (Although I'd be partial to some others.)
  13. Possibly - but I had the same thought this morning. Not a peep about guys who are available. It seems consistent with Adams' needing to wait for a team to be eliminated from the playoffs. There was something he said in his press conference -- he used a word like "sooner" or "earlier" to indicate that he had a plan and that the timing could be accelerated if certain things were to happen.
  14. The online fancy stats people saddle Brian Thomas Jr. with several "red flags" -- something about how alarmingly low his "yards per route run" were. Apparently, this metric, YPRR, is a strong predictor of success in the NFL. And, physical beast though he is, Thomas's isn't good. I think I heard Joe DiBiase on WGR talking about Thomas -- something about "does he evolve into a DK Metcalf comparable" -- who apparently also had similar concerns with his fancy stats while also having physical freak measurables -- "or does he flop like several other physical freak prospects whose advanced stats were not good coming out of college?"
  15. Smurfs 2.0. Let's do this.
  16. Man, y'all got the Wegmans family and just overall a lot more legacy money than Greater Buffalo. 😜
  17. I don’t think they stay put. I think they’re more likely to move up to ~20 than anything else. But I also think there’s a good chance they bail on Round 1 and grab two WR’s in a draft lousy with them.
  18. <Draft bump> Thought experiment out there has the Bills trading back in order to select 2 WR’s. I really like that idea. https://billswire.usatoday.com/lists/mock-draft-2024-nfl-buffalo-bills-keon-coleman-ladd-mcconkey/#
  19. Years ago, we started doing farm shares, produce and meats. Buy Local. More recently, I’ve made a conscious choice to do something similar with music (especially live music). The results have been more rewarding than I could have anticipated. My favourite thing about Listen Local? Buffalo’s Del Paxton. I avoid labels and comps when it comes to music — but, I’ll offer: If Rush and Weezer had 3 babies, they grew up in and around central NYS, settled in Buffalo, and became hobbyist runners. I listen to the sh1t out of their catalog.
  20. All fair points, but … this isn’t binary. I’ve been a Bills STH for a while now. There is something transcendent about being in a stadium and joining in a stretch of cheering delirium. Fandemonium, as Van called it. I said it at the time and I’ll say it forever more: The wildcard round when the Bills demolished the Patriots was the happiest I need to be, probably the happiest I can be over a sporting outcome. I was crying at times — with the tears freezing fast to my face. When the Bills win the Super Bowl, I’ll be in a more static environment. It won’t, can’t be the same. I don’t think it’ll even be as delightful. We’ll see. Whether we’re ooohing and ahhhing over a Josh Allen odds defying scramble or wooping and 🤘 ing at an Eddie Van Halen run of hammer technique arpeggios (RIP), that element of human connection (what some religious call ā€œcommunionā€) adds something unique to and amplifies the enjoyment of the amazing thing we’re experiencing.
  21. Pro sports might be a bubble? Think about how out of reach attendance is at an average hockey game for a family of 4. How onerous PSL’s are. At some point, the economics could fail.
  22. Haha. I gotchu. Graham is now agnostic (?) as to whether a chunk of the Sabres is up for sale as well. Given that he got burned, it would appear that he's open to the possibility of this being true.
  23. Atrocious or ... clever and true? I sort of think the latter. They've got a fantastic lawyer in-house now. That guy is whip smart. I'm not being facetious in the least. That's not what the statement said. Plus, we have Wawrow confirming that the NHL approved someone to approach the Pegulas (who were told "no"). Plus, @Brawndo has info indicating that a piece (??) of the Sabres can be had for the right price.
  24. She's a quick study with MSM's condescension.
