GDT Sabres at Canucks 1-25-18 10 PM MSG GR
That Aud Smell replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I am intrigued by the fact that Kane's not been a part of this turnaround. Of course, that only tends to confirm my bias that the guy's not going to be a (key) part of a successful team. As to the second item: What a fart in a bottle that is. Jeremy White should be ashamed for giving that legs. As one of the replies noted, ROR was sucking air from an on-ice incident -- he was just struggling past. EDIT: He deleted his quote-retweet with the "eyes" emoji of the clip showing the purported fist-bump-snub. I think that there are portions of every fan base who won't be satisfied until every major sport is basically a WWE story line. Based on what? The fact that they go hat shopping together? The fact that they are seen eating at the same restaurants around town several times a month? -
Anyone see this bit of footage? https://twitter.com/NickiJhabvala/status/956228021945618437/video/1 (Sorry it can't embed.) I want no part of a physically impressive QB prospect who's inaccurate. None. EJ was a physical specimen. I remember shaking his hand when I saw him in downtown Buffalo after the draft, and his hand just, like, enveloped mine. I was like "whoa! this guy's a horse!" And then he couldn't throw darts into smallish windows. Please, please, Bills -- pass on Allen.

Reading the article: I totally had a flash of intuition that there was/is a love triangle going on there -- perhaps unbeknownst to Mr. Nilsson. -

Our twinned franchise -- Cain to our Abel (or vice versa). We are destined to meet the Canucks in the SCF in 2021 -- following each team's 50th anniversary season. Whither rickshaw? -
Obama's greatest failure as POTUS:

What I heard indicated that they're approaching the issue the right way. It will be interesting to watch how it unfolds.

^ That sort of thing is happening throughout upstate and western NY, and beyond. The former St. Gerard in Buffalo sat moth-balled and neglected for many years until a local Islam faith community purchased it. http://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/buffalo/news/2017/02/3/st--gerards--catholic--church--buffalo--east-delevan--father-mazur--muslim--mosque One trick that can arise with these transitions is how the local Diocese handles some of the Christian artifacts and fixtures that the purchasers must remove from the premises.

For the file regarding why certain fans distrust/mistrust Russ Brandon and want him exorcised from the franchise. http://buffalonews.com/2018/01/24/bills-subtract-analytics-staff/ Brandon gave a glimpse into their approach for a June 2016 story in The Buffalo News. Brandon conceded it's fair to say Lyons' work pertained more to the Bills' ticket pricing than with X's and O's. "We look at it from a holistic perspective," Brandon said. "We hired Michael to oversee all of our business analytics at well. He is a crucial part of the mix between marketing and content and the decisions we make in all platforms of our business. "Most people assume the analytics person is driving data and running it down the hall to the GM. But it's a lot bigger than that. In a quote from Brandon's interview that didn't make it into the story, he noted Lyons' role in generating football data was predicated on the direction given. "With Jim Monos and the player personnel department and with Rex and his coordinators and [contract negotiator] Jim Overdorf and his department," Brandon said, "Michael is able to provide information that is almost custom to what they may or may not be looking for."

I only saw the 1st, and, once that dynamic took hold, it really was remarkable. I was like, "Um, the Sabres are good?" -
that guy, he gone for good. which is sad.

/Don't make the joke. //DON'T make that joke. ///DO NO MAKE THAT JOKE. See what's become of me here? Are you not treating with anyone for this? Like, a medical professional might be best to advise you. I am *sure* that getting drunk or buzzed is a huge no-no for concussion recovery. A beer or two, I'm not so sure. But why risk it? The most important thing with a concussion is to ensure a full and complete recovery, as promptly as your body will allow. Screwing up the recovery, like by protracting it by doing too much or doing the wrong stuff, seems like one of the biggest risk factors for not having a complete recovery. To that end, can you get some time away from work owing to a medical issue?
-
Sorry to hear. Screen-time ought to be reduced, from what I've heard.
-
They must need some depth at center.
-
Wouldn't that be something? I'm not so sure, though. There's not too much of a track record, but isn't the slow/sleepy start followed by being a house of fire in the mid-winter his M.O. to date? I think there's a chance that Eichel will always have some of that floating/disengaged outlook to his game (personality). The key for him, in becoming an elite player, will be to minimize the time when he's in that mode and figure out ways to shake out of it right quick.

Reinhart's subtle play to control the puck on ROR's first goal was eye-popping. 1:40 mark here -

What a bizarre result. I turned in after the 1st, and so wasn’t entirely surprised by the result - the Sabres fairly dominated the 1st. The score is a bit skewed maybe by hitting 3-3 on the peeper. Inevitable that an earnest request regarding language would yield an Aud Club meme. #reddited -
My mistake on the OT. I must’ve misheard it.
-
Not sure what's prompting that (but, sure!). Maybe discussed upthread: Matthews' recent goal celebration was fantastic. Can't find a .gif, but after having one disallowed under dubious circumstances, he was emphatic when he won it in OT. Fun stuff.

Gave it a watch. One thing that's been reinforced: Eichel's a solid guy -- or, at least, has it in him to be that way. And he's genuinely good with kids. I don't think you did. -

Days gone by, I dug my heels in with you on this. While I'm not totally there with you now, I've come a lot closer to your view of the matter. Even with regard to Roswell, I can recall your talking to the effect of, "hey, Roswell has a super noble mission and all, but let's not ignore that they have, like, a 'profit' motive of their own." And in response, I was all *MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB, LITTLE LAMB, LITTLE LAMB!* Or something like that. Having had two dear loved ones pass through that wonderful facility since first our debate was had, I have much more insight on the subject than I did when we first discussed it. It's a tangled ball of yarn. -
Hard to say "no." OTOH, I really thought that Jax had the best chance. The key to beating Brady is always getting pressure with your front 4 and then covering the sh1t out of the receivers. Jax had the horses to do that. More than anything, they were let down by their coaches. I'm not sure that Philly has the personnel to do what must be done.
