  1. Given how he talked about it -- as something he'd been grinding through but could not in Philly -- and further given its designation as a UBI (which I do think can be accepted at face value), I think the theories upthread about it being back spasms/rib contusion(s) make perfect sense.
  2. Other than the Bruins, there's no team I hate more than the Flyers. Git 'em, Sabres! Let's go, Buffalo!!
  3. I've seen the vids. @SwampD can fookin' shred.
  4. The Leafs are, for sure, a more talented squad than the Sabres. Matthews, Tavares, Nylander, Marner ... sheesh.
  5. Not sure of its merits on its own, but this one still has the power to make me feel (at least a bit) like a kid again.
  6. Christmas in Hollis is firmly in my top-10 of winter holiday songs.
  7. I mean, it's music. Taste is inherently and stubbornly personal. There's really no objective greatness (outside of truly transcendent artists, I guess?). If you don't like it, you don't like it. Leave it there, leave it at that. Griping about how you somehow can't like the song because others like it so much is ... well, it's not a good take.
  8. And, on a more personal level, this guy's an old friend from what seems like another lifetime. He's originally from Vancouver, and spent a big chunk of time in L.A. (which is where the song was made, obvi), but now lives in Nashville (and supports the Predators). If you listen carefully to the lyrics, I guarantee your hockey sensibilities will be pleased. Just a terrific singer/songwriter (And producer).
  9. This is it. Full stop. And I generally don't entertain a debate on the topic. For me, there's a level of sorrow or sombreness that, for me, makes a Christmas song special. I'd never focused on that - good call. Probably because his phrasing of "kiss her" always just delights me so. What a performance.
  10. This is fascinating.
  11. I love it. I posit that Buffalo’s never had a pro athlete with White’s combination of on-field excellence and charisma/personality. He’s well on his way to being my 2nd favourite Bill ever (Thurm’s always gonna be #1).
  12. I'm fairly unclear on what's even happening in that footage.
  13. A post script regarding the Steelers and their Renegade song tradition: It's fun and all that they do that (and the song does rawk for a stadium), but when I watched YouTube clips of Renegades at Heinz Field, I thought about how much cooler it would be if the fans audibly sang along. I have no love for the SEC, Florida, or, for that matter, Tom Petty, but this is cooler than the Steelers Renegade.
  14. ^ It's an emotional game. I can't really get mad about stuff like that. Plus, with the way that guy's been playing, I'm gonna be good with just about whatever he's doing in terms of football.
  15. The thread title is confusing to me. Just the same: Let's go, Buffalo!
  16. "Words, words, words." Hamlet, II ii 1295.
  17. Setting aside that we don't fully know what the pointing is all about (although it's a fair guess that he's giving thanks to his God), we definitely do NOT know what entreaty he might make to the same God when things go against him, his team, etc. My guess? He does not give a point of thanks for a temporal danger, toil, or snare -- it's more of a murmured prayer imploring his God's fellowship and guidance through a difficult time.
  18. i was busting yer nards. as i read your post i was like DUDE I KNOW THAT IS WHAT I JUST ADMITTED TO I WAS WRONG I'M SORRY.
