Let him start the season in Rochester and hopefully call him up to get 30 games in with the Sabres.
-
Well yeah, under the premise that ROR goes for Parayko then the most obvious move to complete a culture change that Botts alluded to is to trade Risto for forward help.
Why trade the only proven Dman we have? I know Dahlin is supposed to be better but damn Risto is easily one of top 5 players and it's not like we have any great D men after him except Dahlin. Yet to me you keep your strengths instead of let one guy for the sake of addressing a weakness. I get we need help at wing yet maybe the best option is shifting Rienhart there permanently and someone in UFA. A guy like Tobias Rieder might be a smart add under a two or three year contract. As he's already a good 3rd liner now so maybe give him some money to play the second line/third while Nylander still develops and in a year or two shift Rieder back to the 3rd line.
Kyrou is a winger
Whoops, I meant to say Dunn.
-
If we aren’t getting a top 4 D or a top 6 winger, why are we even considering trading ROR?
I know Jbot hates TM’s players, but this is going to far to trade ROR for futures and getting zero immediate help for next year’s team.
I agree with you 100%. I think ROR has always been a Chris Drury type and not a Briere type and as a result some fans over rate him. That said I think he's easily in our top 4 forwards and no reason to trade him for anybody. All the trades have heard sounds horrible except the possibility of Skinner from Carolina yet don't like he's a UFA after this season.
Blues fans are laughing at that Buffa guy, saying he's not legit.
Parayko, or Kyrou + Dunn as bases?
I'm against Kyrou as how many damned Lefty Dmen do we need? Parayko is a nice thought yet I can't see us landing him.
-
Yup, keep Risto
Agreed. Risto, Eichel and Mittlestadt are the "untouchables" if I were managing the team.
-
All I can think about with regards to ROR is how much it has to suck to have your name being thrown around every other minute.
I know it's a business, but man it has to be bothersome.
It's his fault, if he never made the comment about his loss of love for the game he probably not be thought of as a trade target.

To me Kane and/or Okoposo are first liners. Girgenson should be Centering the 3rd line and Sam should be a winger on the second line. Pommer or Moulson also could be alternating 2nd liners. If the best wingers we can get Jack are Girgensons and Baptise/Bailey he should be screaming to be traded immediately.
Anyone know if could buy out Gorges and make him an assistant coach? If we sign Vanek, drop Moulson, put Poliot on the 4th line and get rid of Gorges that's a playoff roster.

The NHL never give us the top pick they only give it to fan based that need to be re-energized. I'm betting Arizona ends up with it this year. How far out of the 1st pick are we?
-
Agreed as this move would allow us to call up Nelson.

I have a Moto X 1st Edition and very happy with it. The reviews of the latest model sounds like have improved camera issues. As mentioned these phones are great as have very little bloatware. Yet to me the best thing is the latest Moto X Pure is truly universal and can be used on any of the major 4 US carriers and or their sub carriers that let you bring your own phone.I'd suggest the Moto X as a budget option, but it stays pretty close to the Android base GUI, like the Nexus which you've said you don't prefer. I'm the other way, I want as little manufacturer BS on my phone as possible. Just give me straight Android. One of these days I have to get around to upgrading our phones, we're both using Samsung Galaxy Nexuses (Nexii?) which, for a 3+ year old phone is holding up better than expected but is on the border of not being useful.
Adding: I'm toying with the idea of a Blackberry Z30. Anyone have a newer Blackberry, as in something with a full touchscreen?

Larsson could also be expendable if Rasmus Asplund develops into the two way/3rd line Center many predict. IMO Girgensons a bit over rated in my eyes as see him as a third liner at best and gladly move him for a top 4 Dman with a guy like Bailey whom also not sold on.I would hate to lose Fasching. The kid has a great family story and I root hard for him.
If I had to list forwards by odds of getting trading I rank them as follows:
1) Girgensons - probably has the most trade value because of age, 2 way ability and ability to play multiple positions. Larsson's emergence makes him somewhat expendable.
2) Ennis - past production, reasonable contract and ability to play any forward position gives him value, but only if he proves he is healthy. Okposo's signing moves him back to LW, and if Vesey signs he could be expendable.
3) Kane - bad behavior makes him a cancer in GMTM eyes, but also kills his trade value. Again needs to straighten up and fly right.
4) Foligno - if Carrier is ready, he could force a Foligno trade.
5) Larsson - If Girgensons gets his game back, I can see GMTM trading Larsson instead. However our NHL quality centers are in short supply, although COR could be serviceable 4th line center if necessary.
6) Deslauriers - seems like good kid, but our forward depth makes him expendable.
-
I question anyone who wants to move Kane as he the only top 6 forward we have with any grit. I get his off the ice behavior is questionable but I'm not willing to let him go until more details come out. As the latest charges sound like he got drunk and may have just picked her up and take her out of the bar and was innocent fun since. Nothing happened afterwards.Kane & our 2nd and 3rd for Fowler and Stoner
They get their winger and cap relief, we get a Top 4 LD and a 7D

Traded Franson for a 3rd
Signed Hudler and Pirri

I could see him in a coaching down the road. What do you propose to do with ol Matty Mo
-
Seems like a hefty price but maybe we're trying to be a good trade partner with the Blues for future deals. That or big Swede that GMTM likes but most likely will be counted on to be the G available for the expansion draft. I still welcome signing Lindback though to serve as Lehner's back up.
-
That seems to be the reports I've seen here. In terms of what's left of UFAs I'd be okay with Lindback returning.Did gm tm say this afternoon that he had a verbal with a goalie today, but it fell through?
-
Petey? Is that you?
I'm only half joking though, because the thought actually crossed my mind earlier. I'm not sure we need him though.
Not for the top 6 but think he's a decent 3rd line guy who could push some of the young kids to produce and he did have some good chemistry with ROR in Colorado so he could help on the PP.

McKenzie/Lucic: Rumor out of EDM all week was seven-year deal, $42M. Unconfirmed rumor today could be as high as $6.5M per. #Oilers
I can't see why Lucic go there unless he's promised to get on their top line to help/protect McDavid.

Anyone think that we could take a chance on Chris Stewart again?
-
Kane is leaving
For who/what?
-
I think a bigger question would be, does Vesey sign elsewhere first or do the Sabres sign someone else first?
-
A 23 year old Russian that's scored 59 goals in the two seasons seems worth between $6 and $7.5 million per season. With a less than great crop of UFA Dmen and Forwards I say take the plunge on Kucherov assuming Vesey doesn't sign.especially for a Russian!
That or allocating assets he can use or move to get a better roster. As Murray comes across the type that will do what it takes to get best group of players.Interesting. Are you posing that GMTM was actually preparing to be able to enter an offer sheet?
-
Murray's been stockpiling picks. We have an extra 2nd and 3rd next year. We have some great prospects if there was a time to go after a RFA this is the offseason to do so as we're a top 6 winger and top 4 Dman to be a playoff contender assuming Leaner can play 50 - 60 games.I want to offer sheet someone, but I get the distinct feeling that offer sheets are a tool that GMTM is not interested in using. I don't think it's his style.
-
GMTM also has to be mindful of the expansion draft next year and it seems like Pysyk be the most likely team Las Vegas would take so why not replacement for a LHD that we need now and have a better chance to bring back as he set to be an UFA after this season.Toss in he might have also drafted Larson's possible replacement with the same trade?
-
Another thing that might be worth noting is the Sabres have a prospect from the Buffalo area (West Seneca specifically) who played at Harvard with Vesey by the name of Sean Malone, does anyone know how close these guys were or line mates? As it might be another positive in trying to get Vesey to sign here.
-
Correct. However, Lindholm is worth #8, and more.
Fowler has a very cap friendly deal, Lindholm is an RFA and Vatanen just got his RFA deal. I don't see how the Ducks can keep both Lindholm and Vatanen.
Lindholm would be worth 8, but would probably take little sugar on top to get it done. ANA has only 6 picks in this years draft, BUF could easily throw in a few extra picks to move the needle.
One issue with Lindholm, which I haven't seen anywhere, is that his agent is Claude Lemiuex who of course is the father of former Sabres prospect Brendan. I'm not sure if he played a part in Brendan wanting to not play here and the Sabres look like are a better team when we had Brendan but think it's worth mentioning.

External FA who eventually gets replaced by Mittlestadt. but Stasny would never come here. Boznak is meh. I mean he's not a great #2 but if the job ultimately not his am okay with it yet I personally don't like getting rid of ROR unless we get a top 4 right handed Dman with a prospect or a proven top 6 forward.
