He's going to be great.
That said, and I've been saying this since training camp, he would've been better off with another year or two of juniors.

But they’ll still be soft as puppy poop. I like Owen more than most but he’s never going to be Chris Pronger. Please give me someone that strikes fear into the opposition.
The game isn't played that way anymore (I wish it was!). Karlsson, Makar, Q. Hughes.... do they strike fear in anybody?
You put someone like Pronger or Stevens in todays game, where they can't clutch and grab, and guys will skate right around them like they're standing still.

5 more wins out of 82 games is the difference between making the playoffs and a 13th year of disappointment.
I can think of atleast a dozen games where they underpformed as a team, top to bottom, sleepwalking through the first period. Going 0-2 against the Ducks.
Trading Owen Power or any other player/group of players won't fix that.
A new coaching staff could.

Dahlin has played 41% of even strength minutes and is a -7, a team worst -11.53 trpm.
Power has played 35% of even strength minutes and is a +3, -0.85 trpm.
Power is not the problem.
Cozens, Thompson and Dahlin are bottom 3 in trpm. The fact those 3 get outscored at even strength and are part of an anemic power play is the problem.

Power is a quasi bust. Definitely an NHL caliber defenseman but more of five or six guy IMO. Slow, average offensive IQ, average puck handling. When Dahlin had his struggles you could tell there was another level. That is non existent with OP.
Agreed there is a misperception of his talent and ceiling. If that hypothetical trade doesn’t happen soon his contract will be an issue.

I would trade or package Power in a skinny minute while he still has people fooled and retains high value.
imho, one of the worst takes I've ever seen on this forum

The two choices are not mutually exclusive.
Get the skill players to play tougher and the tough guys to play with a bit more skill, and now you've got something.

It’s because they are soft ass pussies that don’t care to be bothered to act like real ***** men when ***** ***** matters. They are children. They aren’t men. I can’t describe my disdain for everyone in this franchise. I hate them all. Coaches, players, trainer, GM, anyone who has anything to do with this franchise needs to go.
Beware the fury of a patient man.

Teflon Don is a great developmental coach. However he doesn't know how to get a consistent effort from his team, or have them ready play from the drop of the puck.
That said, Adams and Pegula like him as a person, and that's more important than winning.... apparently.

surpirsed this doesn't happen more often

His shooting percentage is somewhere around 26%… unsustainable in the long run, but he’s having one of those years where everything just seems to go in.
Still falls down too much tho.

Absolutely.
With Mitts and KO gone, there will be an opportunity.
Who exactly that will be in is impossible to predict, but there will be plenty of horses in the stable to choose from.

If history is a guide, young teams typically make a huge jump up the standings once they hit a certain development threshold... and I believe this group is close, they've shown flashes, it's just a matter of time before they figure out the final piece to the puzzle.. consistency.

I no longer trust Adams to make any more meaningful roster moves. I don't trust his vision for this team.
He who does not trust enough, will not be trusted.

If I'm an NHL coach, first thing I'm doing is making it crystal clear that you're getting paid millions of dollars per year to play a game. It's a great privilege to be here, and if you aren't cutting it you'll be sitting whether you're 18 or 36.
No guaranteed spots no matter how good you are in the dressing room.
I don't think you understand how nice he is, smh.

Us ticket buying fans paid Comrie $3.6mill over the last 2 years. He and his 1-7 record can rot on the bench and in the press box for all I care.
But he's a reall really really nice guy who everyone likes.

I choose long term.
He's a future 40g scorer, lock him up now or pay much much more (or not be able to sign him) later.
