  1. The thing is, a short term deal vis arb is going to come in a lot lower than he wants. The Miller contractor 7.5 million per year, but it buys up a lot of UFA years. These are only RFA years we’re talking about which are less valuable in terms of contract comp. so he will probably come in under that with an award, and I’m sure that’s not what he’s looking for with his injury history. also, not being too on the nose, he had a chance to do the same thing yesterday and declined to do it. Therefore, it does not seem the path that he wanted to take… For those saying the Sabres are doing a dumb thing. He must’ve thought it advantageous to not be in the situation that he is now in.
  2. No argument from me that signed Bryson when they did was just dumb and unnecessary
  3. Not to be repetitive, but this is such a non-story it’s hilarious. I mean malynstein applied for arb last year too. It’s a very typical ploy for mid to low level rfa free agents to give them some negotiating power. Has nothing to do with the team and his agent would’ve done this no matter if he was traded or not most likely. The issue is people assigned some type of second round value to JBD. It’s pretty obvious in retrospect that this was just a false thinking because people did not like the idea of adding to cozens to get Norris. It should’ve been obvious to us when looking at his history that he was waived last year and no one claimed him. Do we really think Buffalo, despite how negative everyone is about their management, would pay a second round draft pick for a player that was on waivers a couple month earlier? If no one else claimed him when he was free, why would they pay a draft pick for him now? It’s not like he did anything remarkable like Fabbro
  4. Eh I think they can afford to linger on this trade because the player is willing it to sign back even for a couple years in Buffalo. Peterka refused to sign here in any capacity it seems. The question is whether they could’ve gotten more at the trade deadline… But that sort of a dicey proposition. It’s funny that people are saying the Sabres had complete control that situation because they did have complete control of his rights, but they could not let him go into the season unsigned and tank the first part of the season.
  5. Y’all know this means really nothing - it’s a very common negotiating ploy used by many players and almost never gets to the arbitration hearing stage. Many Sabres have done this over the last few years and none have gone to the heating
  6. In terms of FA aren’t those 2 the only FWD we cared about anyways - never woukd have wanted then giving granlund 7 mil with term. they always needed to make a trade if it wasn’t ehlers / will they is the real ?
  7. Take him out on a stretcher and battlefield jarmo - he should be making the call anyways!
  8. We don’t have a 2nd in 26 so it’s wrong
  9. I mean is the offer sheet really that much of a threat? The reality is if the Saber sign him it’s not going to be for more than two years anyways so how does it hurt them? except for not getting anything back for him that’s not a draft pick… But if somebody dumb sign, same like Calgary or Philadelphia then that’s an unprotected pick that could be a lottery pick. that would be pretty dumb on both of their ends too
  10. Maybe the were lying about Lyon ha ha
  11. D we signed last year - v good AHL player so not even a new player
  12. Pegula puts himself on the roster as the new top 6 as a cost cutting move
  13. Yeah there’s no way to poison pill it - people do that by making a qualifying offer the second year super high… He’s UFA after second year. Therefore it’s useless.
  14. That’s where he played at the end of last year and his numbers were great… Not that I don’t want to get an upgrade there but that’s who actually played the best
  15. No you’re forgetting josh doan - unless we trade for someone benson is on the 1st line and Doan on the 3rd either way Doan us in that lineup somewhere likely 3rd line - they didn’t trade for him to sit him
  16. Not trading benson anyone else is on the table
  17. Sounds like he is really just learning English well - maybe he was nervous
  18. Ok bro - whatever issue you have that makes you this way… That is your issue. Good luck with it. Sure, bro whatever you say… An emergency doctor from Seattle Washington is a plant by the Buffalo Sabres. But good luck with that idea and whatever other conspiracy theories you have. By the way that noise just heard it’s probably an alien in your backyard.
  19. I’m not sure why you get so out of shape when someone disagrees with you? I actually am very frustrated by the Sabres and all of their failures the last 14 years… Is there a rule against presenting intelligently thought out arguments on this message Board? If I recall, you actually insulted me and said that I should post more than 20 times before putting a stronger opinion out there… So I guess do you want me to post more or do you just want to throw out insults to other posters who disagree with you? people who happen to like a trade are entitled to their opinions, whether they’re in line with yours or not… It doesn’t mean that we work for the team, which just means that maybe we have a different opinion.
  20. Its clear that kesselring is going to be a top 4 D on this team - and a lot of smart analytics folks think that he is going to be very good in that role and already has been good in that role. I’m not sure how that qualifies as a depth piece? We’ve been missing a partner for power for like three years and it’s the number one need on the team. doan will be better than you think and is a very young good third liner… I guess you could argue that more in the depth range but when I think of depth, I think of a fourth liner or an extra and not a person who is going to play 15 to 20 minutes a game and likely a 20/20 hard to play against winger what’s the last top 4 rhd traded that people argued was a “ depth player” - these are primo depth pieces
  21. Are you making the statement that Dobson is a Norris level d man currently?! That’s a big reach
  22. That had been debunked - a few of the Internet guys mostly Chad has said that he would not stay here… Also, he wants 10 or $11 million a year. I would not have wanted that trade. Nor does Rossi do anything for us in exchange for Peterka. We may still see Byram for kyrou And what good does too late first rounders plus roster dumps do for us? looking at all the above, we took the best trade right?! Even if something is lacking. It’s still better than the deals above. There’s no way I’m paying Dobson $10 million a year.
  23. Agreed… After having some time to think about this if Doan becomes a 20/20 player with his style and some of his dad and him, kesselring is a good partner for power then this is a really great trade for us
