Michael Misa in the OHL this year.

He is 1st in points with 108, the 2nd guy is Nick Lardis with 96.

He is 1st in ppg with 2.12, the 2nd guy is Porter Martone at 1.86 (technically Igor Chernyshov, also on Saginaw, is first at 3ppg but he only has 9games)

He is 2nd in goals with 52 to Nick Lardis who has 57. The 3rd place guy is Liam Greentree at 38.

He is 5th in +/- at +43 with the top guy being +48 and the 2nd place being +45... so he's really close.

He is currently 5th in ppg for all draft eligible OHL players from 2005 to present.

He is currently in 4th in goals for all draft eligible OHL players from 2005 to present and tied with Jack Quinn (in 10 less games). He has only 51 games played so he still has another month of goal scoring to take a run at Pat Kane's 62hoals from the 2006-2007 season.

He is 21st in assists for the OHL from 2005 to present for draft eligible with 56a to date. I would expect this number to climb because he gets Chernyshov as a linemate.

He is 28pts better than the 2nd guy on his team in points and 25 more goals than 2nd place.

Final sidenote: Kristian Epperson is one of Misa's linemataes. He is an overager that will turn 19 in May. He's a 6' LW that I would be willing to take a swing on in a later round.

Lardis sounds like a decent third round pick by Hawks.

I think that this is why the NHL will never adopt the 3, 2, 1, 0 points system. It looks like a tighter race when the point totals are closer. They want there to be the appearance of teams being able to get back into the playoffs to keep fans interested.

Understandable. I, who is used to soccer and Liiga where there is more points available, have been fooled to think there might be a chance. And then after some calculating realize that there isn't.

I think this is what hockey could look like a lot more often if the NHL wasn’t watered down by over-expansion to chase more money. I don’t even know what to say if these idiots try to go to 34 teams.

The Finnish Liiga has been ruined this way. There are way too many teams and not enough of good players. Young players are pushed into the league as cheap players to fill out the roster. They learn the needed tactics but skating will not be develop to the level it should be.

Do fans of a team show up whether or not the team is good?

It is all based on the results. There are always loyal fans that show up no matter what, usually grumpy old men. But if the arena is full or half is all on the results. With all the amount of different sports on television these days I think it is easier to stay home and get good entertainment that way.

Not saying it's right or wrong but it's obvious the Swedish coach doesn't trust him. Prefers the veteran.

I've been thinking about this 3,2,1 pt system though and I kind of like it. Rewarding regulation wins over OT wins could perhaps give you a more accurate point total on the season. A little less reliance on having a big 3 for OT and more reliance on actually winning games 5 on 5.

The 3,2,1 point system has been used in european leagues for years and have not heard complaints about it.

Good for him but that's a pretty poor D pool for them. I really wonder about this thing. They have it billed like it's the Olympics but I have this feeling it might just be a bs all star type thing with limited hitting and mediocre efforts.

We all know that if this was really the 4 best hockey nations it would be Russia and not Finland but we can't have that can we. They can all play in the NHL and we can follow Ovi's goal quest but oh no, no team Russia allowed cause Putin. So ridiculous.

Russia would be in the tournament if Finland and Sweden had not refused to play against them I think.

Joker has a positive rating for the Sabres this season... and it's not all his time with Dahlin.

But taking Heiskanen and Hakanpaa out and replacing them with Jokiharju and Vaakanainen is...  uffda!

Vaakanainen has played solid since traded to Rangers, he will do fine as replacement to Hakanpää. But the lack of puckmovers in team Finland is a huge problem.

yes, he wants top dollar, and now that he's away from a player of mackinnon's caliber, his numbers might come back down to earth.  that huge payday is going to be slightly less than he was asking for.

Believe it or not, but his point produktion without MacKinnon is even slightly better than with him. Even if the sample size is not that big.

  9. We should trade Cozens and one of Byram or Power, and buy out Samuelsson. Then if, and it is a big if, Mikko Rantanen not re-sign with Avs we should pay him the price to get him to Buffalo. Then put him on a first line with Peterka and Quinn. A couple of veteran D might also be needed. That might be the game changer for us.

    One can dream...

I don't think yo uare getting Rantanen.  Even if he doesn't sign with Colorado, I think a lot of other teams will be willing to pay up for him that will be more appealing for me.

The rest of what you said, it still is mind boggling to me why Cozens is still here. He's a bad hockey player overall.  2 years ago he was an overall bad hockey player who had a career scoring year of 31 goals, and now he is reverting to the norm of being a bad hockey player overall again.  As far as Bryam and Power....I go back and forth. What is Bryam's willingness to sign here and for how much?  Whether to trade one of them to me depends on that.

As i said, one can dream. And I think he stays in Colorado.

Cozens is on his way out, he has to be. I like him in some ways and I wish him all the best, but the Sabres - Cozens relationship is hurting both and has to end.

Feel pretty much the same like you with Power and Byram. Some days I wonder if we could keep both. Some days I want them both gone. The realistic scenario is that Byram is traded by deadline, and that's fine with me.

The best we can hope for is if Jarmo would like to come (and put up with Terry). That said, he was the BJs GM for 11 years. And it took this long to see success. Maybe he learned something over the years.

Jarmo drafted well, and he did get the needed defensmen by trade and signed (where we failed), and even if I concider the Severson- deal horrible, he did what it takes. Where he failed badly was when he hired the coaches.

Martone is different than Eiserman in that Eiserman really relies on his shooting skill while Martone has a more well rounded game. Both are physical though but Martone is 6'3" 207 compared to 6' 196 for Cole.

If we pick 4th, I think we are picking between Martone or Misa (meaning whichever one is left).

Probably, I think Sharks want Schaefer and Hawks want Hagens.

Adams has to try to stop trying to make him the number one goalie. He needs 2-3 full years in Rochester much like Calgary developed Wolfe. They should have played Reimer and they should get a better veteran #2 to back up UPL next year. End the blocking nonsense and start developing people properly.

Agree. I think the thing is that Levi is on his last contract year and his next contract might not allow them to send him down without being on waivers first. They are hoping he could be their back-up, but that is not going to be a succesful solution. And then, if his numbers says he should be sent down, is he still a young goalie that teams take a chance on, and hope their (probably) better D can make him more reliable? But with UPL and a good veteran back-up, we don't have to think of that.
