Zary put up less points than Benson last year while being 4 years older
I am not interested in him, it was just something I read somewhere. Think he is another shoot first player.
Two for one if they add a young RHD to the trade. Adams would take that and run.

All quiet on the non-palm tree front
rumor of cgy heavily into Byram but not sure what they could send us back of equal value?! I don’t see the match
I read that they don't agree with Zary about his next contract, it might be they are sending him away instead. But rumours as usual ofcourse.

That's going to save Terry a bunch of money in jersey lettering.
And they got Doan also. But Kesselring, wtf

I had more expectations on JBD than Timmins. Timmins isn't better than JBD.

I think they will sign a UFA veteran defender. Ceci is my guess.

Here's a name we should be discussing and I don't think we have:
Mikael Granlund
Center, LW
Age: 33
2024/25: 22 goals, 66 Points
Contract Projection: 2 years, $4.975 million
-I think he'd certainly be an upgrade on our left side top 6 and he can also play center, sort of of 2025 Zucker but a bit better. Gives us experience and wouldn't break the bank. Not a defensive dynamo but certainly not on Petera's level.
-I think he would outpoint Peterka while providing more accountability at a cheaper price tag. He also contributes on both special teams units and is describes as "middle-six winger on a contender who can handle top-line duty on a weaker roster," This has "sabres written all over it,"
-He'll have suitors, I think 2 years/$12million is a good offer. He's coming off a contract that paid him $20miliion over 4 years. Thoughts?
I like Granlund, he has heart and soul and he is a professional. He has been a very good mentor for the young Sharks players, Zetterlund talked very nice of him. He had a slump while he was in Pittsburgh that is often mentioned, what is not mentioned is that he had a divorce at the same time with kids involved.
I would love to get him to the Sabres on a shorter deal, unfortunately that is not going to happen, my guess is a longer team friendly contract on a place with palmtrees, where it is nice and warm when the kids come to visit.
Maccelli can be an entertaining player, he is also good on the PP. I still don't think he is a player we need, there was a reason why he was a healthy scratch later last season. Very interesting that Toronto choose him.

Milton Gästrin is the only one of players mentioned above that I have seen play, and that not that much, but I think he would be a good second round pick.
I am curious to see where goalie Petteri Rimpinen lands. He was The best goaltender I have seen play for Finland in WJC since Saros, better than Luukkonen and Annunen. He is small but should be drafted in the third round.
Rimpinen to Kings as no 152. I consider that a steel.

I do not believe Kekäläinen would be a part of the organisation if there is an internal cap. Every trade probably still needs mr Pegulas blessing. That way Pegula can keep control. That is what I think.
They still need improvment on every positions so I hope I am right. Otherwise there is only small chances to playoffs imo.

Pittsburgh's the team that I found odd in this draft. Maybe they are smarter but their picks seem out of place.
Agree. Maybe they are counting on McKenna next year and are already starting to draft supporting players

Trading a 23 year old Dman for 32 plus year old forward makes no sense unless we get prospects/picks back.
Penguins need a LD and we need veteran leadership. A Stanley cup winner on a cheap contract is a fit to me.

The trade that makes most sense to me is Byram for Rust/Rakell. Rusts' NTC expire after the draft and I am not expecting us to trade 9 OA.

What happens if Doan gives us a 15g 25a season and Peterka puts up a 25g, 25a season?
It is not unrealistic at all. At the end of next season we will have the correct answer. Hard to tell about Doan, but Peterka probably will play on their second line and those points are about what I expect from him there.

WHY?
Totally get why the Eulers might want to do that. Fail to see what the benefit to the Sabres is.
It is a common problem among fans on that type of sites. They don't seems to get the whole picture or overvalue. Every now and then I entertain myself reading those, mostly they are frustrating (when thinking all Sabres ever want is draft picks) or hilarious, but there are some good ones.

Would rather just buy out Muel than eat Nurse’s contract
Absolutely! Another LD with five years 9,25AAV is not what we need.
-
There was a Oilers mock trade on PuckGM that suggested they take on Samuelsson and Clifton in exchange for Nurse. They would have bought out Samuelsson and kept Clifton as a 7th for one year.

Depends on what we can sign him for and how long. Maybe R Johnson, Rosen and a 2nd. If they add Schneider to the deal I add Byram.
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?

There are a lot of players on Sabres contracts that need to have one helll of an offseason and one hell of a season for us to make the playoff. The roster has not been improved so it is up to the players to make some progress. On the other hand, our biggest rivals in Atlantic has not improved much either. And it would be surprising if there are more than one wild card team from Metro, most likely there are none. All my hopes are not gone yet.
