  1. Thanks for jogging my memory. The Sabres fans have been privileged to have two all-time greats in the booth...Ted Darling & Ric Jeanneret. The only low point in Sabres play by play announcer history is when John Gurtler held the TV job for a couple of years. I don't know where is he is now and I don't really care. Freakin' terrible is an understatement.
  2. LabattBlue never drinks Miller. Now what was I saying about Biron... Let's finish off this road trip with a good effort against Atlanta and then come on home boys. In a completed unrelated sidenote, my 3 most hated Leafs... It's a dead heat...Sundin, Tucker & Domi.
  3. Everybody has their favorites...right. ;) In case you can't tell mine happens to be Miller. B-)
  4. 7 Sabres with 2 points each tonight. Balanced scoring at its best.
  5. The only thing better would have been pounding them 8-4 at HSBC and seeing all those Leaf fans crying on the way back to their cars with a long ride home in front of them. :)
  6. Biron had his shot over the last three seasons and proved that he is nothing more than a middle of the pack #1 goalie. He can play great in spurts(earlier this year), just as easily as he can be Mr. Mediocre. He is a bonehead handling the puck, is horrible at times in terms of being in the correct position/angle and is down on his knees way too early and way too often. If that is interpreted as giving him no respect, then so be it. I call it, like I see it.
  7. What's your point? You'd rather have Biron than Miller? I've got news for you...without Miller tonight the score might have been 8-4 with toronto winning.
  8. I hate f***ing Sundin. What a cheap shot artist.
  9. Roy was equally to blame. He made a half hearted effort to back check the goal scorer.
  10. Pominville impressed me near the end of the period. The puck was along the boards in the Sabres end, Pominville went after it, knew he was going to get crushed, but still stuck his nose in there and got the puck out of the zone. Not something you'd expect from a young player known more for his offense.
  11. Teppo's out tonight too! hamstring
  12. Not trying to nitpick but Briere has missed 24 out of the 48 games the Sabres have played. 50%. ;)
  13. If this has been mentioned previously in this thread, I apologize I'm being lazy... WTF was Grier thinking when he took the penalty against Kasperitis late in the 3rd period. If the Rangers would have tied the game up on that PP, Grier would have been the goat of the game. There is a time to retaliate and a time not to. Considering Grier is an NHL veteran, I would think he would know the difference.
  14. -Great win for the Sabres. Good effort on the road against a talented offensive team. -Miller played solid. Yes the first goal was on the soft side, but the difference between him and Marty is that he didn't allow any other goals the rest of the night. -Good to see Kotalik get a goal at even strength. He's got the size to be a power forward who can dominate at even strength if he puts his mind to it. -What the heck were the Sabres thinking in the last minute of the game. They came very close to giving up 2 two on one breaks while on the PP. -Dumont had one good chance in the 1st period & threw some nice hits. Bad news is, just as he comes back, Connolly goes down. -I REALLY want to see the Sabres pound the Leafs to the tune of 5-1 or 6-1. GO SABRES!!!
  15. Max...jaw dropping one play, frustrating as hell the next. Good period of hockey. Lot of hitting and inspired play by the Sabres.
  16. You can single me out, that's okay! :) It just pisses me off that on nights when you ended up scoring one goal, that you dressed a guy like Peters who contributes zero offensively while you sent Novotny back to Rochester. Granted Novotny has no proven track record, but from an offensive standpoint he is the equivalent of Wayne Gretzy when compared to Peters. I'll disagree that the Sabres need Peters as their resident tough guy. You have Gaustad who can drop them when needed and with fighting down to such a minimum, you just don't need a guy who can contribute NOTHING beyond being a goon. Keep him on the roster if you must(I'll even disagree there), but don't dress him unless the opposing team has just signed up the Hanson brothers. ;)
  17. Boy I really hope that Lindy can still find a place in the lineup for Dynamo Peters if Dumont comes back. Maybe he can sit Vanek, Kotalik, Connoly or Max instead. I would hate to see Peters presence missing from the lineup. <_<
  18. First off, if the replay official at the game is provided by the home team, this has to stop ASAP. Secondly, this concept that goals are reviewed in Toronto is bogus. On a busy night when there may be 11 or 12 games going on, how are they dealing with monitoring potential bad calls at different games? Hire competent video replay league based officials and cut out this micro-managing concept of reviewing replays at league HQ. What a dumb F***ing idea. Sometimes I really wonder about the NHL and their direction under Bettman.
  19. -Marty...I don't care if you give up a bad goal from time to time, but can you at least try and be in the right position. McCarty barely made contact with the puck and there it went dribbling into the far side of the net while your angle on the play was horrible once again. -10 goals in the last home game and then 5 goals combined in 3 road games. This is not going to cut it. -On the 5 on 3 within a span of a minute, Pominville gave the puck away on a horrible pass in the Calgary zone and the next rush in, Connolly tried to stickhandle his way through the Calgary zone instead of pulling up and setting up the PP. THINK! THINK! THINK! -What breakdown in communication? Whether the ref saw the kick or not, when multiple players are arguing vehemently about the goal, shouldn't the ref have the common sense to go upstairs. I was hoping Lindy would have taken a play out of an NFL playbook and called a timeout after the goal to ensure that somehow the call gets reversed. Four officials on the ice, plus a couple upstairs and none of them saw the kick? Demote ALL of them back to the AHL ASAP. -The good news...Peters was a FORCE out there in his 4-5 minutes of play(up from 3-4 minutes the last game). I am now confident that sending Novotny back to Rochester was the right move. <_< I will ride Lindy and Darcy on this until the day that Peters is no longer on the roster. Let him go back to being a freak show in the AHL with 400 PM per season. -3-4-1 in the last seven games. The Sabres need to get back on track and try to get 4 points out of the remaining 3 road games. It's going to get a lot harder after the break, so start turning things aroung now. GO SABRES!!
  20. Good thing Peters dressed last night. He was such a force with his 3-4 minutes of ice time. It would have been next to impossible for Novotny(who did not dress) to have made a bigger contribution on a night when the team only scored 1 goal.
  21. If I remain sitting in an upright position on the coach, I have a 10% chance that I stay awake for the whole game. Laying down on the couch or in bed, I'll be asleep half way through the first period. Sucks getting old and having to get up early.
  22. one? Didn't he also coach the Sabres? I'm being very lazy today.
  23. To be filed under the "it just wasn't meant to be" category... How is it that Scotty was wildly successfull everywhere but Buffalo? He won cups in Montreal, Detroit & Pittsburgh, but didn't do squat in Buffalo(especially come playoff time).
