A lot of mocks have Catton falling to 11.

My first choice is to trade the pick for an impact player.
If they keep it than Catton, Helenius, Dickinson or Biuim would be great picks.

When I look at mock drafts and see a 6’3” 215 pound centre who skates like the wind and scored nearly a goal a game -in a draft lacking both power forwards and centres in general - falling out of the top 5 I really raise my eyebrows.
The Ducks have McTavish and Carlsson already, so I can see them looking elsewhere.
But I just don’t see how Lindstrom gets past Columbus or Montreal.
Outside the injury, he’s everything GMs drool over.
I don’t see him getting by Verbeek and Anaheim. He is the exact type of player Verbeek wants. Lindstrom is most likely a winger at the NHL level.

Danault or Kerfoot would be good acquisitions for what they need. I think Kerfoot would be more available and cheaper to acquire but if Danault was available he would be a great pickup.

I think the top 4 will be:
1. Celebrini
2. Levshunov
3. Salayev
4. Lindstrom
Your guess is a good as any.
I read the only team Levshunov had dinner with was Chicago so maybe he is the pick. I think Demidov is the 2nd most talented guy but will take the Michkov dive down to about 5th or 6th

Outside of Celebrini none of these draft pundits and sites seem to be in any sort of agreement on any of these guys.

Don’t let Lance anywhere near a GM position. Somehow the Flyers have the worst cap situation in the league. They would be begging to get rid of a Laughton as a cap dump. Don’t gift them 11thOA and a young RHD for a guy like that.

“You know how good Skinner would look on Bedard’s wing Kyle”😃

FWIW, and I know at least one poster doesn’t think it’s worth much, but after a few conversations over the weekend, I am 100% convinced that the Sabres will make a big splash in the coming weeks. Something along the likes of Danault, Jenner. Eriksson EK, Jenner. And it won’t stop there.
The hire of Ruff was significant but the real notice of intent was the hiring of Pete Guelli. Ruff had some leverage but Guelli is a rising star and doesn’t sign on without some significant guarantees.
TPegs was not in Buffalo to discuss draft prospects. He was here to agree to the monetary ramifications of the pending moves.
I wonder if buying out Skinner is a real possibility and they need Pegula to sign off. Want to free up some cash for other moves.
Sounds like spending to the cap is on the table.
I think some big changes are coming.

Eriksson Ek and Rossi are about all that Minnesota has at C. Hartman has played there a lot due to necessity not him being a pure C.
A reset there could mean a desire to bring in a Savoie and perhaps giving Krebs a fresh start.
As an added fantasy, could we include more pieces to get a Hartman included. Gritty vet who can play anywhere in the middle six.
There has been a lot of chatter that Minnesota wanted to trade Rossi because he was not big enough for them. If true then they want bigger players-prospects.

Thanks for the info. Just a question: are those names you heard directly or just speculation based on the type of player they are looking for? I think any of those guys would be great adds but Erickson EK would be a big ticket. I would love that.

Seattle just seems like a good trading partner. They have several pieces that seem to fit what Buffalo should be looking at: Gourde, Tanev, Larsson, Borgen. Tanev, Larsson and Borgen are all on expiring contracts.
Dahlin-Larsson would be a nice balanced top pairing.

Apparently Leone was on Seth Appert's staff.
2019-2020 USNTDP JUNIORSso there seems to be the connection.

You guys know nothing about him. Why are you 💩 on the idea? Appert did a great job developing the kids.

I've decided that Carter Yakemchuk is Rasmus Ristolainen and I don't want anything to do with it. I could 100% be wrong here as Yakemchuk has a ton of offensive tools but just watching shift by shift tape and it doesn't look right. The tracking data I've seen backs it up, I would draft him in the late teens but not at 11.
To me Eiserman and Yakemchuk are the two riskiest top 12 picks. Both bring very unique skill sets but there overall games are questionable for a pick that high. I would actually put Lindstrom in there too. The back injury is hopefully just a one time thing he is past but those can be very tricky.

Pronman mock draft https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5531872/2024/06/05/nhl-mock-draft-2024-celebrini-levshunov/
I have made no bones about how much I don't like Pronman's rankings but it still gives us things to talk about and there is a fun Sabres note in here.
- Mack Celebrini
- Artyom Levshunov
- Anton Silayev
- Cayden Lindstrom
- Ivan Demidov
- Sam Dickinson
- Carter Yakemchuk
- Zeev Buium
- Berkly Catton
- Beckett Sennecke
- Tij Iginla (Pronman: Several NHL team sources think Buffalo is a strong candidate to trade their pick.)
- Konsta Helenius
I don't see any logicaly way Tij Iginla makes it past Calgary at 9. That would be the perfect spot to take him in. That said, I think it is interesting there is industry chatter about Buffalo trading the pick as that indicates to me there are multiple conversations around that. As always, talking about it and doing it are 2 different things.
NJ at #10 moving their pick might put a wrench into things or maybe not. Depends how many players are sitting there that other teams covet.

A different approach to looking at some of the top draft prospects.

I couldn’t pass up Dickinson if he was on the board at 11.

This board is going to call me a homer, but the Sabres shouldn’t have to add a thing if they offered Power.
Brady Tkachuk put up 44 and 45 points in his first 2 seasons and didn’t have Rasmus Dahlin blocking him from playing on the power play.
Yes, 6’4 nasty wingers with first-line scoring ability are unicorns.
So are 6’6 defencemen who can skate and move the puck like Power can.
Power is under contract for another 7 years, which will probably be the 7 best years of his career. Tkachuk has 4 years until he is a UFA. Defencemen are more important than wingers.
If Power is the player he was in November 2 years from now, then he won’t get you Tkachuk. But he is a #1 pick 160 games into his NHL career. Mystery box prices still apply.
I said it up thread, if Power is offered, it is highly unlikely any NHL team will be offering a single more valuable asset.
Yes, Tkachuk is a better player right now and that matters. But it isn’t the only thing that matters.
No thanks. No desire to move Power

IF the Sens were actually going to trade Brady and IF they were willing to move him to Buffalo I think they would want Levi and Peterka.
They are desperate to find their goalie. JJ they could team with good buddy Stuzle as a dynamic 1-2 punch.

I have never seen draft rankings so all over the place among the pundits. Sennecke at #27 is a choice.
