I hear this type of comment a lot.  Mostly it is a defeatist, never ever works for us, type of comment.  But given the difference in coaching between Ruff and Granato, I give it some credence.  I will also note that Vanecek is a year younger and has much better resume (i.e. NHL stat line).

He’s right though. Just like Ullmark would not have been “Boston Ullmark” if he stayed in Buffalo. It’s a different team, different roster, different coaches, different GM, Different everything! I’m not saying better across the board. But it’s just different, so Ullmark would have been different most likely too.

NEWARK, N.J. – The Buffalo Sabres will aim for a second straight win on the road when they visit the New Jersey Devils on Friday at Prudential Center.

The Sabres are coming off a 6-4 victory in Ottawa on Tuesday. Jeff Skinner and Tage Thompson each scored a pair of goals in that game.

Coverage on MSG begins at 6:30 p.m. The puck drops at 7 on MSG/MSG+ and WGR 550.

Here are five things to know.

    1. The lineup

The Sabres held an optional morning skate and did not run line rushes.

Eric Comrie will start in goal with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen backing up. Devon Levi remains day to day with a lower-body injury.

    2. Streaking

Rasmus Dahlin and Dylan Cozens both have chances to reach career-best point streaks on Friday.

Dahlin enters the night on a six-game point streak, with seven assists in that span. Cozens has two goals and four assists during his current five-game streak.

Jeff Skinner, meanwhile, has at least one goal in each of the past three games – including a two-goal performance in Ottawa on Tuesday.

    3. Mittelstadt Mode

Casey Mittelstadt tallied a pair of assists against the Senators, upping his point total to six through seven contests. He leads all Sabres players in assists (17) and points (23) dating back to March 25 of last season, a span of 18 games.

    4. The special teams battle

The game presents a clash between two of the NHL’s top special teams units to begin the season. The Devils boast the league’s top power play at 42.3 percent (11-for-26) while the Sabres rank sixth on the penalty kill at 88.9 percent (24-for-27).

    5. Scouting the Devils

New Jersey’s success on the power play has coincided with the hottest individual start for a player in the NHL. That distinction belongs to forward Jack Hughes, who leads the league with 13 assists and 17 points in just six games.

Hughes has tallied at least a point in each of the Devils’ games this season.

“There’s a case you could say he’s the best player in the world right now, the way he’s playing,” Granato said. “So, fun to watch, less fun to play against, and that will be a challenge for us tonight.”

There's roughly 3 things to bet on

1, winning team. You can do that straight up or you can buy points. Buying points is like spotting Buffalo 2 goals before the game starts.

2, player props. Tuch will have 6 shots on goal, Dahlin will get an assist, Allen will have 250+ passing yards etc...

3, parlay. You combine various bets together. Bills win and Allen throws a td. Both events must happen.

There's other stuff but in online gambling you're basically ordering food online, you select what you want and then put how much down you're willing to risk. Based on your choices you then get X back if you win. Often expressed as +150 or -160 etc. If I bet 100,I'd win my 100 back +150 dollars. If I bet 160, I'd win that back + 100.

Thanks. I was also wondering about the parameters of allowing an NHL player to bet, if at all. Taro explained a good portion of my questions.

    Interesting times…

So …. Correct what I have right and what I have wrong. This may help others who are confused as well.

As an NHL player you cannot bet on the sport of hockey. Any league at any level for anything, betting on the sport of hockey is off-limits.

Pinto was betting on other sports. And he cannot bet on other sports while being employed by the NHL.

Pinto was a betting on other sports except hockey, online. But the gambling site is shady and not “approved“ by the NHL and therefore he is in violation.

As someone who is completely ignorant about online gambling and how to gamble on sports… Break it down please.

Anybody willing to take a stab at this?

Before last night we were a point or 2 out of a wild card spot.

Last place right now changes often and is not as earth shattering as in March.

    Correct.
And if this is gonna be “a thing” where we need to be constantly aware of what place the Sabres are in allllll season long, Then mention it every day or at least every game day.

  6. What two numbers did Jim Schoenfeld wear?

On October 23, 1981, what forward had the first, three goal game of his NHL career in the Sabres 6-2 win over the Maple Leafs?

On October 25, 1991, the Sabres traded Pierre Turgeon, Benoit Hogue,  Uwe Krupp and Dave McLlwain to the Islanders for Randy Hillier, a fourth round draft pick and what two forwards?

Actually, if you watch a little before that, Tkachuk started it earlier in the shift out in the neutral zone by taking a run a Tuch long after the puck was gone.

Yep. I think that’s conveniently overlooked by some who want Tuch to be the root of why everything devolved into the ugliness it did. I’m not surprised Tkachuk wasn’t fined or suspended. But I am disappointed. NHL…. You disappoint me!

    😂

Rather than open a new thread I thought I'd hijack this one...

I am hoping to go the the Nov. 14th game against the Bruins, most likely by myself.  Am I correct in assuming I'll likely do better pricing wise if I wait until it's close to game day to get my ticket?

In my opinion… You should look on craigslist, or stub hub, there may be people right now selling those tickets… And cheap. In my opinion, The longer you wait, the longer there is potential that the tickets you get won’t be the most ideal tickets that you may want. if you can grab a seat in a good location you like, for under $50… Just do it sooner rather than later.
Or, you could hope that it’s not a sell out or close to a sell out… And just get whatever seats are remaining. You just may not like the location because you waited so long.

then there always is the potential option of moving into a seat that’s better… Once you are there.
