Absolutely… Rookie GM mistake.

Granato could have shut it down immediately with disapproval and discipline… He didn’t… The sooner he is replaced, the better… It’s the only way to shock this bunch into the given reality… A team needs its fans.

Not sure it could only happen in Buffalo, but it sure did here… Agree it should have been shutdown before it got started by Okposo, Tuch, Dahlin, Granato, and Adams… Complete leadership failure… Embarrassed for them…

Very good analysis @Pimlach… Think you are generous in your assessment and value of Power and Samuelson… Power is soft and you can’t train tough… Samuelson is injury prone… Would trade both for the right pieces… Agree with your trade ideas… Would say we need a gritty no nonsense vet over 25 with SC experience… either a top 4 D or power forward… with a good shot and puck handling skills, and strong PP leadership who can takeover QB of our top PP… Move Dahlin to the 2nd Unit.

It’s easier to appreciate when you understand most are post adolescents with big egos and paychecks but no clue… among a handful of young men still trying to figure out how to be men… and a few grown men weary of losing in Buffalo. It is a sorry bunch Adams has assembled under contract…

You are likely right about these two… Resolute and stubborn… despite the team failure and growing fan discontent… Still hoping for Okposo’s imminent departure… and a reset bringing in a few winning warriors and discarding a few losing lunkheads who refuse to play the right way.

Like you (and I imagine most fans), was excited when Pegula bought the Sabres as well… His investment in LECOM Harborcenter demonstrated his early commitment to the Sabres… Think the emergence of the Bills as a perennial contender the past several years and the attendant national attention has kept Pegula focused on the Bills and their ride… Then, his wife’s health issues and the impact on Pegula Sports & Entertainment management, his daughter’s climb in women’s pro tennis… Easy to understand the distractions… Still, was surprised when Adams revealed recently Pegula watches every Sabres game and has regular discussions with him… Hard to fathom why he is so complacent as the franchise continues fail on its promise… Confounding.

Good post @GASabresIUFAN… Never saw you as negative… Just an invested and frustrated Sabres fan… You have good observations and ideas… Couldn’t agree with you more about the difference between Beane and Adams… Beane is a calculated risk-taker… Adams is calculated and risk averse… if you get my meaning. You are right, @freejame… Pegula, a petroleum engineer by training, sold all of his Pennsylvania fraking assets… and only holds two small energy operations out West… Learned something, thanks.

@Pimlach, you are fixated on Girgensons… Will say it again… @JoeSchmoe’s idea was sending a message to the team… He doesn’t value Z like you do, so he used Z as the player to make his point… You suggested Skinner as a better choice… @JoeSchmoe would argue with you, but I and most others would agree with you… It’s the message that matters… The country club is my euphemism for the unacceptable and unprofessional performance of our team this season… Starts with Pegula… and includes KA and his staff, DG and his coaches, the players and their leaders… They know how to play the right way… They know how to play physical and deliver clean hits early and often to set the tone… They know how to forecheck and back check and how to finish a check… They know how to go the the net and crash the crease… They just don’t do it consistently… It is a choice… It is not demanded by DG… Whatever distractions exist within the locker room, the building, the amenities, and the messaging… need to be removed much as you described McD’s approach to the Bills culture teardown… Frankly, think KA and DG have both failed to perform and should be replaced… It is time for Okposo, Girgensons, and Skinner to go as well… Doubt Pegula has the ego to accept his failure as owner… So, we are likely stuck with all of them for at least another season…

Hard to say… Pegula runs a billion dollar energy enterprise… and has replaced more than a few GMs and Coaches… so we know he can act decisively… Seems he’s still under the spell of Adam’s considerable charms… and not thinking like a decisive hockey owner… The fans and the Buffalo and Hockey Media are sending him signals he needs to act… In the meantime the monetary value of his franchise keeps growing… despite the team’s 13 year 900+ game playoff nonappearance…

Agree… but that would have to be a Pegula order… and is unlikely… Odds are Pegula will keep KA… who will keep DG… and keep our roster of under performers and unproven prospects… as he listens to KA whisper… “Stick with the plan.”… Pegula will keep discounting tickets until he can’t even draw double digit attendance anymore… And the fans who attend will still boo when the team fails to make an honest effort to entertain them… Pegula will decide what kind of team the Sabres will be next season.

Fine by me… Would send the same message @JoeSchmoe wants to send… The message would be the point… “Country club is closing… If you want to be a Sabre, start playing the right way.”

Granato is probably saying it… but in his own meek, cerebral, hard to internalize way… Poor judgment on my part… Called Granato a gym coach… Correcting it before anyone rightly calls that label mean-spirited… Granato is a developmental coach… Still needs to be replaced.

Everything you posted is true and makes great sense… Think @JoeSchmoe’s point was by waiving Girgensons management would send a strong message more change is coming… “If you want to stick with this group, start playing the right way”… He could have singled out any one of several other names… Wearing the A, and as a longtime Sabre, and underperformer, Girgensons best fit @JoeSchmoe’s message… He’s getting minor minutes this season for a reason… And, you’re right, the team is fragile… It’s time they grow up as a group… It’s a business.

Okposo has to go… The Sabres need a new Captain.

Yep… Never built an identity… Think our Strength and Training Staff and their individual player and team programs need to be reviewed closely… Our young players are still growing… Need more muscle weight and strength.

Adams fatal flaw… Saw it coming in the preseason when he kept rotating in draft picks to audition in the final 3-4 games… when he should have instructed Granato to play his regular season lineup to get the team ready to play winning hockey right from the start… Cost us three weeks in my opinion.
