I hear everyone say it's important for the Bills to get the #1 seed so they can have home field throughout the playoffs. While important I think that's the third on the list of reasons.
The top reason, IMPO. is that the Bills desperately need the only bye to (1) get healed up a bit more, and (2) try to get the offence back in early-season synch.
I'm being a bit more presumptuous on the second reason. I feel the clear top 3 teams are Bills, Chiefs and Bengals. A small gap after that. The #1 seed would only need to beat one of the #2 or #3 to get to the Super Bowl. The #2 or #3 seed would need to beat the other AND the #1 seed. Again, that assumes the wild card round is chalk.
Then #3, playing in Orchard Park.
The Bills will need to win out because I don't see the Chiefs losing any of their last four.

I wonder if the video clip of Tage breaking that guy with his slap shot a few games back made the rounds within the league. Seems no one has tried to block one of his shots since. Self preservation is a mighty influence on one's decision making, I suppose.

So, based on their ages this will still be an appropriate comparison to make next year as well. 👍

So this begs the question: If Risto was traded for nothing at all (I suppose technically it then wouldn't be considered a trade) would the Sabres still have won the trade?

It’s ultimately about cap space, roster spots and role on the team. Asplund will be much cheaper to keep, allowing cap $ to be spent elsewhere. He also is our top defensive forward, can play both center and wing, and is still under team control He is also 3 years younger than VO. Still how do you replace a 30+ goal scorer? It’s nearly impossible without having a read made younger and cheaper player ready to take over that scoring role (like Quinn). VO will also have to want to stay as he is an UFA after next season.
KA has to make decisions on KO, Z, Cozens & Asplund after this season and then Mitts, Dahlin, Power, VO, Krebs, Bush, Comrie, and Bryson after next. I don’t envy him the task. There is only so much cap to go around.
This is pretty interesting. Three or four high-end forward prospects pushing for jobs soon on a Sabres roster that has no JAGS to replace. What a huge leap from just a couple years ago. Now if we can just get that quantity and quality of talent in the D corps.

Damn, I was all excited to see topless girls with shovels and brooms on the ice during breaks. Since its NOT on Playboy TV I suppose I'll just have to settle for watching ads for EV Tires and Post Malone hawking Jagermeister another 40 or 50 times tonight.

As a fan, if a Sabres player wearing a letter acted like that I'd be disgusted. Not sure how teammates would feel about it.

Oh, and by the way, Happy Anniversary Jack Eichel Trade.

They play TB, Car, LV, Bos and AZ in the next 5. If they win 3 of 5 wouldn't you agree that they have proven they can compete with the best and are therefore a good team?
For me, yes. I only wish they could have gone through this upcoming portion of their schedule with at least 2 of the 3 injured D healthy and back in the lineup. Three out against those first four teams is going to be tough to overcome ... and it makes for a difficult evaluation.

It appears many are discounting the first 10 games because of events of the past. And that's understandable given collapses - one in spectacular fashion - after recent hot starts. But this is obviously a very different team than those previous ones. And any of the players on this team who also were part of those past teams are at different points of their careers/development and under vastly different circumstances.
There was a poll about six weeks ago (can't recall who did it) where we voted on ranges of season-end point total projections for the Sabres. It would be interesting to see how these 10 games would change our responses if the poll was re-done now. This would defuse some of the 'how'd this work out the last three times' and also not have to answer the question 'where is there?'.

Is this an indication he may be ready to go tomorrow night?

I think I would make a career as a State trooper by only writing tickets to people that stay in the left lane when the right lane is wide open. Idk if people are clueless, or if they think that they are the authority on speed and do it intentionally. I don't see this issue driving around parts of Europe, Northern Canada and etc, so I think it's semi attitude based. Just let me set my cruise and I will gladly get to the right when I have space.
When I come up behind a 'left lane clogger' I will give them ample time to move over. Then I'll pass them on the right. But what amazes me is that after three or four more drivers do the same, shouldn't the pokey driver be thinking 'maybe I should get out of the left lane?'. Completely unaware of their surroundings.

Girgs racing to get to the puck and battle to keep it on the boards at the end of the game was an inspiring play that symbolized how much heart this team has compared to previous teams. More than any play in this game it got me stoked up!
And the reaction of his teammates upon his arrival at the bench was fantastic. These guys are tight.

Yep, that sucked. Northeastern was playing on ESPN+ at 7 on Saturday followed by the Sabres at 10. Perfect. Missed the very beginning of the NU game and was like, "who IS THAT in net?". Then I saw another goalie on the bench not named Levi. WTF happened? Then the foolishly over-optimistic Sabres fan in me was wondering if he had been put on a plane to Vancouver and I missed the news. 😆 (Call it bourbon brain).

How much of this surge in Dahlin's game be traced back to his switching sides and being paired with Muel mid-season last year?

" ..... an unusually high number of right shot defencemen ..." 👍
It's going to be fun to see what the scouting and analytics team can find with those three second round picks.

Managed to stay awake for the entire game. The two FA additions? Comrie was a stud. And Boosh? I can see why he didn't 'fit' in TO.

The correct answer is .... Nothing.

The only 'logjam' he needs to be concerned with in the near future is beating out Bryson (assuming Johnson stays on the left side).

I remain convinced that if Butler hadn't blown out his knee he would be in the Hall of Fame today. He was that dynamic.
