Love Dion. Spends a ton of time at schools and treats the kids well. Mr. Charity.
Plus he can play LT well.
One of the many that makes this team really easy to root for.

Apologies if this has been asked or covered previously. Is Kesselring a 2nd pair D already or is he a 3rd pair D who is expected to jump into the top 4? If the latter, isn't that the Cliffy signing v.2?
Separately, this should pretty much tank the Complaints Thursday thread for this week. (sorry for using that term)

Just saw that the LA Lakers are being sold for $10B (billion, with a B).
Maybe Pegula will buy the franchise and turn it into a $5B entity.

My understanding is that it was Pegula who “encouraged “ him to add some experienced people to the staff to help him. And it was up to KA to choose who he wanted. I can’t say that for sure. I’m conjecturing here. As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t matter much to me who was behind the change compared to the fact that it was done.
There is nothing novel about having “senior advisors” working as consultants and as a sounding board. Many teams have this type of added structure. Florida has this type of senior consultants.
I consider the addition of Jarmo to be a positive move.
I agree John. It’s just quite disheartening that it’s taken 5 wasted years for someone (TP) to figure that out. TP must really love him some KA.

I'm not sure who was the main initiator was for the Jarmo hiring, TP or KA, but I like it. It seems to me that outside eyes are very often better at seeing things than taking an insular approach. And to a lesser extent, the hiring of Staal, even if it is for a lower consultant position, adds an outside perspective to the team and in evaluation other players in the league.
If it was KA .... he must feel he has infinite job security. Can you imagine going to your boss after 5 years of futility (at best) on the job and telling him/her 'I need help'?

I swear you can find anything on Google. 😀
Nah, too long and it has to contain numbers. Like TB12SUX, for example.

And THAT actually WOULD BE profane.
I had actually thought the very same thing when I got the letter!

I'm not a fan of bumper stickers or decals on my car. But I'm not opposed to vanity plates. Ordered a set for my car and was told my request would be reviewed. I assume so the RMV can determine if that plate has already been issued or it can check for 'suitability'. I'm sure FUKU2 wouldn't be acceptable, for example.
So I submit my request: LFG17. Any Bills fan or WNY'er would understand the meaning. But surely not the dweebs at the Massachusetts RMV right?
Here's the response I received. 'Your application is being denied for the following reason: Such combination is vulgar in that it is in poor taste or is degrading or is considered a profanity, including a swear or curse word, not usually displayed in the community for general viewing.'
The reviewer is obviously a Pats fan. 🤬

I've watched way too much Carbonneau. He's fascinating to me. 6'1" and almost 200lbs with an 06 birthday so he's physically mature for the class. Usually this might mean less runway but I'm mildly convinced Carbonneau has more runaway. There's moments where he's just dominant, he'll handle, fake, slide an inane pass a teammate and crash the net. His shot is underrated and he can fire it from every angle, position, and way he wants. The talent he possesses is extraordinary.
The catch is, he's too good for the Q and that means he does dumb *****. He'll try and deke 3 guys, skate into trouble, and lose pucks. I've seen him make incredibly bad decisions not because he can't see the ice, but because he's trying to be extra awesome. That's not to say he's some selfish primadona, he's very able of a team game, just on his team everything flows through him.
Overall, I love him a bit. He looks like a hockey player, he's got high end tools and just needs some more play selection refinement. Another year in the Q and 2 in the AHL and I think you could have a 35g 45a player who can takeover shifts. He's willing to back and forecheck, just needs to work on some positioning defensively.
Carbonneau is medium risk for high reward. If he doesn't hit, you're probably getting a 15-20g and 15-20a middle six winger who will be really good on your pp.
Edit: Oh and for anyone worried Carbonneau is just a finesse guy... lolz. Dude might not be Martin but he's willing and wanting to hit things.
Appears that an Athletic hockey writer is finally catching up to you on Carbonneau, Liger. Intriguing story on him just this morning.

You believe that every nmc has Buffalo and every nhl player hates it here. That's some great work by Adams convincing ppl he's bad because of others. Zucker literally talked about how Buffalo doesn't have as negative of a connotation as fans think.
Further only like 1/3 of players have nmc so there's options. Or did Byram, Norris, Zucker, Greenway, all just have their car break down so they had to stay.
He's not under contract.
I believe that more than anything players want to win. It hasn't happened in the past 14 years and the near-term prospects of that changing aren't very good. So for that reason I do believe that the Sabres are, with maybe an exception or two, on all NMC/NTC's. And yes, to be clear that falls squarely on Adams' (and his boss') shoulders. No idea what Zucker said but curious if he was referring to the city, the hockey organization, or the team specifically. Will try to find it.

Let me see if I have this right. FA's have no interest in the Sabres (unless they're grossly overpaid or have no better options). Any player with A NMC/NTC has the Sabres on their list. And now rumblings about players that are on the roster might want out in any way possible. This roster is going to be upgraded how, exactly?
NHL players and agents know exactly what's going on in this organization ... quite likely more so than we do. What an absolute mess.

Given the typical score of a NLL game is it safe to assume a shutout in an entire half is somewhat rare? And the Bandits did it in a championship series? Awesome!

To be fair, the new Shaboozy song *is* a banger.
Heard it the other day for the first time. Agree. It's very good. Wasn't denigrating him ... just a recently popular act.

Meh I’m not worried now. Lots of things can happen between now and then and as you mentioned they are all home games. If any are in prime time it’s probably a good thing for Buffalo. Josh loves him some prime time.
There will be some juicy options for prime time games on that home slate of games.

I won't comment on whether the league's massive efforts to promote the schedule release is good, bad, ugly, etc.
I will say: For those fans of NFL teams who are STH's, who travel to one or more away games, and/or who try to schedule their lives around their team's games, the release of the schedule is significant.
For my part, I'm already mildly dreading the onslaught of primetime games at the stadium. Sunday at 1:00 is the only life for me.
Totally get the logistical aspect. Just curious as a one-person survey, but do you feel compelled by the hype to watch it this evening versus reading about it in the morning? (If you set aside the fact that there is playoff hockey going on at the same time). The NFL wants eyeballs on them all year long, if possible.

I actually really enjoy the draft and watch most of it (definitely the first two nights). That makes sense to me. These are important players that can shape your team. Finding out the Bills play the dolphins week 3 on Thursday Night Football doesn’t really move the needle and I’ll forget about it until the day before.
I too enjoy the draft from that perspective. Have for many, many years. It's the presentation and peripheral stuff that's gotten out of hand, IMO.

Can someone explain why people get all juiced up for the schedule release? I don’t even know who the Bills play until the night before. What’s the excitement about?
Because the NFL has to hype everything they do to get people juiced up. Turn it into a spectacle that fans don't want to miss. 'We'll be cutting live to Commissioner Goodell taking a dump. But first, here's Shaboozy performing his latest hit song ...'
It's become so tiresome. The Draft has gotten beyond ridiculous.

These potential moves make no sense. Why would Appert have more of a role internally? What are his qualifications? His record as head coach at RPI was poor and I have no idea why he has been considered to be the likely candidate to replace Ruff when Ruff retires. My sense from the board was that Karmanos had the requisite experience to be the GM (and has done a good job with the Amerks) and now he is leaving? Retaining an experienced advisor for Adams after five years of Adams as GM? Having him report to Adams and not Pegula? Individually and collectively, none of this can be made sense of.
Classic (weak) executive politics and paranoia. Help/push the guy out out the door who is the biggest threat to take your job.

Feebleness because KA.
I think he re-signs Byram for 2 years to pair with Dahls. And frankly I hope he does because I have zero confidence he can do a Byram deal and make the team better short or long-term.
I think he adds a 3rd line, relatively inexpensive forward in FA that he believes can move into a top-6 role. (There's that flawed hope as a strategy thing again).
I think he adds a goalie that's no better than what he has if he can't coax another season out of Reimer.
I think he doesn't come close to spending to the cap again this season.
I'm basing this on the 5-year history of KA as GM of this team. Not endorsing the above (other than possibly the first point).
