This is what you wanted.  This is what you're going to get.

    Aayyyyyyy Ooh!!

    +++++

    MUST WIN!!

    MUST GO SABRES!!

    MUST STOP OV!!

I would have Girgs and Larry stapled to OV in an attempt to try to do the third must item.

Stay out of the box and that would help.  Stay away from that Wilson punk and no one will get hurt.  Let's hope that no one does.

That is not the way to play him at all.

Stay away and you will get hurt.   Stay away and he scores.  He skated across the width of the rink to nail Beaulieu.

We we will need great goaltending tonight.

    you spelled "skilled" wrong.

Hard working talent beats "tough" 9 out of 10 games. There's a reason Lucic isn't good anymore. How's Edmonton doing with Kassian and Lucic on the team? They are tough and yet they still lose. You need skilled players, not players who will attack other players. Sure it is nice to have skilled and nasty but if I have a choice between 1 or the other, I am going with skilled. The 2nd line isn't skilled enough. Also in your example 37 is a rookie and 26 is a rookie. What are they supposed to do? Skinner drew the penalty and they Sabres went to the powerplay, there was no reason to respond. If Skinner was hurt, then sure. But he wasn't.

I don’t see the typo on “skilled” but ok, correct my spelling.    I was not expecting 37 or 26 to respond, they are kids by comparison.

I still expected a response from the powerplay, or by the team in someway.   Maybe the response was to score the 3rd goal and put an inferior opponent away?  Instead we got the opposite.

Sure “working hard” is important, and maybe “tough” was the wrong word for me to use, but I never said get players that “attack” other players. You did, not me.   Yandle attacked Skinner.  Skinner did not attack Bartov, just look at the replay.   It was not intentional. Even Yandle said afterward that it wasn’t as bad as he thought.

As far as Buffalo vs Edmonton in a 7 game series,  I am not sure we would win.  Not at all, we have a 6 point lead on them.   The season is still young, we have a long way to go.

I know I've been a butt about asking about the mutual part, but I just feel like this is too good to be true from a salary cap standpoint.  I fully expect that there will be some hitch in the process.  If he clears waivers without contesting them tomorrow, then I'll believe it.

This has been so weird that he and his agent would probably file the grievance too late.

If its family related I could certainly see that, especially if he is needed back in Sweden. He could void his contract, go overseas and have the Sabres hire him as a part-time scout or something like that.

That being said its hard to tell if this was an amicable separation or both sides were merely being as professional as they could.

I seriously cannot see the Sabres hire him in any capacity ever.  He never communicated his issues to Housley or Boterill. He lied about being ill and missing games.

I don’t see how leaving 12M$ on the table can be amicable.

  5. Look who was on the ice, 37,26, 29.  None capable of responding.

Taking the the PP is only good if you score, we didn’t respond.   Worse,  Yandle and Barkov teamed up for the tying goal.

I’ll say it again, we may make the playoff but will not win until we get some tougher players.

Hopefully when we rebuild lines 2 and 3 we can add a few forwards that have skills and are nasty

He didn't body slam Skinner.   Yandle dropped his gloves, Skinner realized this and turtled allowing Yandle to throw him down to the ice... he wanted no part of Yandle and he drew the penalty.      It wasn't a malicious play by any means.

    Look at it again.

As close as you can get to a body slam with skates on

Great post, but Skinner absolutely put his stick on Barkov's skate and pushed, a really dangerous and dirty play that didn't appear to be a play on the puck.

I'll review it again tonight, I did not see it like that.

This article from a Panther media source says there was no dirty hit.  Yandle said afterward he thought it was worse than it was.

Skinner is a diver, so everything he did there with Yandle fits his game perfectly.  There really was nothing to see there.  It was a guy who draws penalties drawing a penalty, just as you're suggesting.

Skinner did not dive and he did not agitate or instigate anything with Yandle.  His hit on Barkov was not a penalty either but Barkov fell into the boards in an odd manner.  Apparently Yandle and the Panthers decided to rally around this.

Look at the replay, I can replay the game and I have watched it a few times,  Yandle chased Skinner with the purpose of fighting him.  He  grabbed him and rode him into the boards, he put him in a headlock.  Then Yandle dropped his gloves and body slammed him.   Skinner smartly took the penalty, never dropped them, nor should he.     No Sabre came his aid which I think is a problem, but ok, in todays game we frown on that I guess.

So lets get them with a power play goal and go up 3-1.  The Power play had all kinds of zone time and passed the puck arounf the Florida box, barley taking shots, and they had no on in front of the net.  Just 5 guys passing it around the perimeter wasting time.   So no goal.  This is where I would have expected someone to go after Yandle. Oh yeah, that is frowned upon today.

Next thing you know Yandle throws a shot that is wide of the net and it gets tipped in.  Tie game.  Their Captain has them fired up, no one on Buffalo wants to answer the bell for his indiscretions in our rink except the fans who are booing him at every turn.

Then the "travesty" of Dahlin losing the puck, the penalty shot, the almost save.  3-2 and the Sabres are done, but they were already done and minutes later they gave up another.

Defending yourself still has a place in the NHL.  Not too many teams would have let that happen without a response.   No way did Skinner dive or instigate.  Dahlin did not lose the game buy his mistake.  We have come back from worse this year.

Buffalo backed down and Florida imposed their will.

Yes, 2C is a major issue.  However, I don't want JBOT to mortgage the future for a 2C at this stage... he could, but he won't and he shouldn't.

Agree. No mortgaging the future at this point.

Our 2 and 3 line are equally ineffective.

    Top 3 = 9, 53, 23

    Top 6 = Add 37, 21, 43

    Top 6 performers on ice: 9,53,23, 22, 28, 71

dont know why 37,21 ad 43 don’t gell but they don’t?

  10. Dahlin’s play has been nothing short of excellent.  Not only for a rookie but overall.

Phil is playing him So much partly because McCabe and others are out.  Still Dahlin’s play has been solid, yes a few mistakes are made but overall excellent.  Possible Calder Trophy.

Mitts is playing 2C because he is the best we have.  Berglund and Sobotka did not cut it.   2C is a #1 problem  on this team right now. Don’t blame Mitts, if you must assign blame look at Boterill

Buffalo is overachieving so far.  We are not as good as our record.  We lack scoring balance and we lack physical grit.  You saw that tonight and it’s only going to get harder as the season progresses.   That said we look to be a full year ahead of the rebuild and have a very good chance of making the playoffs although I doubt we can sustain the pace we set thus far.

Dahlin and Mitts are learning.  They need experience and more physical strength. One is 18 and the other just reached 20.   Phil is playing his best players, as he should be.  The effort is there, including mistakes.
