  1. surprise, surprise, I don't know many of these songs. Gonna have to learn them as we pour in the goals.
  2. I agree with you, it is not easy to hire people and bat 1.000. That is not realistic that anyone can do that. However, the FO turnover under Terry is a continuous thing. It is noticeable when normally it would not be. Sabrespace is a Sabres forum and should stick to Sabres dialogue. This topic is definitely Sabres related.
  3. He did know him. Roth was his investment guy at Fidelity. He actually knew him for quite awhile. Terry hired Roth, with no Sports Management experience, to run the Sabres business. Then he handed him the Sabres and the Bills only 6 months later. He also hired Ted Black, Pat LaFontaine, Joe Battista, among other failed execs - and he embraced and promoted Russ Brandon too. Stability is not his thing. No other Buffalo Sports franchise has had this kind of turnover.
  4. Well, it takes two to tango, so there is that. If Roth and D'Angelo signed an agreement that included no office hanky-panky then they should have honored it, and if they didn't he has every right to fire them and that is a what he should do. So to your point, Terry did his job. He probably lost two very talented execs, but he held them accountable so that is good I guess. My problem with Terry is the turnover is happening far too often. There is certainly a lack of stability in his business organization(s). There are just too many re-orgs for my liking. Change can be good but constant change just looks like bad leadership, lack of direction, AND disfunction. Terry gets "blamed" because he brought Roth in to run both the Bills and Sabres and Terry touted his credentials which included his leadership/decision making skills. What was wrong with the work that Ron Raccuia was doing? The guy that helps get us the stadium and then gets released right when we get the stadium approval. He gets replaced by someone with far les sports management experience, who was essentially doing OJT with the Sabres, - what can go wrong? There have been more FO changes in the Pegula era than I can ever recall under Ralph Wilson (Bills) or Seymour Knox (Sabres). It spells poor management and lack of leadership. Keep him away from Beane and Adams - they are competent guys that have serious work to do. The one thing I thought that Terry could do was run a well organized, disciplined, and efficient business. Instead the FO on the business side is always in a state of flux. These are all people he picked.
  5. I am excited. Are we better than last year ? I think so but a lot hinges on Levi and we really need better home ice performances starting tonight!! Levi is the key addition in goal Clifton and E Johnson are hopefully >> Boosh and Bryson and Clague Quinn is replaced by Benson for now Greenway with fresh start Need to see incremental improvement in Power and JJP Need another big year from Tage, Dahlin, Cozens, Tuch, Skinny and Mitts I think we could see a goalie trade this season. Go Sabres!!!
  6. Bumbling is pretty accurate. The problem I have with yet another high level organization shake up is that the truly well qualified people stay away from this kind of disfunction.
  7. Wow. That inspires even more confidence in how Pegula does things.
  8. Well, they were apparently horizontal enough to create a problem. If either are married, it’s an affair. If they are not married to other people, then ethical business issues are possible - so this could have been fixed by simply changing the org structure to have both report to him. There must be ethical issues to consider that are only known on the inside. Terry has gushed over Roth in past interviews, citing his skill and leadership, and now this. The AP reports that Roth and D’’Angelo reported to Terry, and Kim, and Laura Pegula. Why Laura? What is she in the organization? This is not the first flawed organization he has set up for his teams. His first group to run the Sabres was a mess. Terry does some weird and stupid things. Right now he generates zero confidence that he can run a successful and winning organization - in my opinion. I sure hope Beane and Adams are shielded from all this.
  9. Incredible. He is infecting both teams. Pegula is quite a character.
  10. There is no comparison between Benson and Bryson, they are not at the same level. Benson looks like he could be a impact player, Bryson has been stinking up the joint for a few years now. Bryson "earns" a spot, Stillman does not. I can get on board in trusting in Granato, and Bryson plays the kind of game that DG likes, so Bryson is in. Lets all remember that kind of game gave up 300 goals last year.
  11. Ten games are not enough. Ask the Florida Panthers.
  12. I put this in a Lotus spreadsheet on my IBM XT and I came up with 24.
  13. Only surprise to me is Bryson beating out Stillman. I did not see that in the preseason.
  14. Hated by refs? Not seeing this. He draws penalties and he takes some penalties. One way he can reduce taking penalties is to see other players, rather than Dahlin, respond to the BS that teams lay on us. As far as players with good relationship with the refs, that is not a thing, but the older cagey vets will probably get more respect and more benefit of the doubt than others. I like seeing Dahlin get nasty and want to see more of that from the defense. I expect to from Clifton. Muel should start to do that more.
  15. Parkinson’s is rough. Hope to see more progress treating it someday.
  16. Overpaid? He is the best guy on the team. This will be a deal. Dahlin will have a long and great prime, he is young and he is still getting better.
  17. Bob Rich is moving a significant portion of his operation out of Buffalo. A major downsizing is taking place.
  18. We shall see.
  19. Clifton will not be a problem if he is used correctly. His ceiling is a 4, but most likely a good 3rd pairing guy with PK ability. I seriously doubt the Bruins failed to see his true potential.
  20. Pegula’s opinion might differ. With the Bills being bonafide contenders and the new stadium in work, what are Pegula’s goals for the Sabres? Adam’s is on a slow, steady rebuild, and has been given lots of leeway. When does ownership press for more results? I don’t see that KA or DG have any risk right now, even with their self proclaimed higher expectations to make the playoff. On top of that I don’t trust Pegula to find and hire someone better.
  21. 6K is a nickname that is not sticking.
  22. I am concerned about the goaltending for obvious reasons - a rookie and two unproven backups is a high risk situation. Only slightly concerned about the defensive players because the pairings will be tweaked until DG finds the optimal combinations. Talent wise we have some very good players on the blue line. Very concerned about “the system” when it comes to playing defense and protecting a lead. This includes the play of the forwards.
  23. I missed the game. Didn’t see any of it. Sounds like some of the vets are not in full gear yet. Time to move on and start the season. For 2023-24 we brought in Devon Levi, Conner Clifton, Erik Johnson, and Zach Benson. Will it be enough to get us to the playoffs? I am ready to see and looking forward to it.
