I didn’t think Vesey was awful. His play reminded me a bit of Evander Kane’s, in the sense that it stuck out as being different from the way the rest of the team was playing. I’m sure RK will work to get him in sync.

Yeah - that’s the downside of RK’s approach - Eichel was out of gas and Dahlin wasn’t far behind.

Seems to me they’re having trouble with the ice. Ice looks heavy/slushy and it’s affecting the passing.

He looked and played stronger last night.

That was... highly watchable. What stood out to me? I couldn’t tell the difference in the lines. Everyone was playing the same style of hockey at the same high tempo. Impressed.

It sounds like the physical and mental toll is sucking the life out of McD. Apparently his knee injury isn’t healing very quickly - perhaps because he’s too unenthusiastic to rehab it aggressively. From the quotes in that article he sounds downright miserable.

Interesting article - McDavid sounds worn down and ready to quit. I wonder if he’ll be the NHL’s version of Andrew Luck. Shame, he’s a generational talent. McDavid is depressed

I mentioned the same thing about Risto during the season - his issue to me seemed to be overuse.

Eh, I like McCabe, but Laine did it to himself there - McCabe just stood his ground as Laine skated right into him.

Player development has off-ice components, training programs, leadership aspects - it’s a lot more than simply picking good players and letting them marinate in your AHL affiliate.

Maybe. But I think the folks who think we’ll be able to unload Risto and some expensive spare parts (Bogo, KO, Sabotka) and somehow get something really good in return are setting themselves up for disappointment. For a real hockey trade, we will need to throw value into the pot - like Casey or Sam.

What about adding Sam as part of a package to get a real 2C? Would Botts do it?

He plays like someone who can’t complete a pull-up. It’s obvious. He is weak on the puck.

Seems like each player they’ve added is good at pressuring the other team’s defense and generating chances. They are not going to play passive hockey. Just my very unskilled observation.
