Is anyone else enjoying the Rangers drama? Losing 5 of 6. Players turning on Drury. Good stuff. The eastern conference is wide open right now.
"Players were reportedly really upset that Chris Drury had leaked to reporters his desire to move on from the core. The Rangers have responded by getting humiliated in nearly every game since. The players are not making compelling arguments to keep them together. They are getting outworked, out-skilled, most times outshot, and are going through the motions out there"

I’m going for the same reason. I figure I’ll have a good time either way.
Same. I will be keeping a Makar vs Dahlin scorecard.

I have no idea how the Bruins do not have a goal in this game. I don’t think the Canucks have had possession of the park for more than 10 seconds in 2 1/2 periods
The boo birds are out again. Love to hear it.

Good looking out, Biz. Here's part of his quote about the incident:
"I go to dinner at this place called Houston’s. I go there three, four times a week. The staff’s incredible, the food’s incredible and just like good people and I love going there. And, um, the bar where I normally sit was packed. I sat in the dining area and at one point there was a bit of a ruckus going on in the bar. It was a bunch of drunk golfers. Things continued to escalate. They asked one guy to leave and then one guy kept getting in the manager’s face, put his hands on him and that went on for about 30, 45 seconds. And you could tell he was a little shocked and surprised and stunned. It’s a family restaurant.
I don’t think there was anybody in there who could maybe help them out, so, I went over and I just grabbed the guy’s arm that was on him. I said, ‘Sir, if you continue to harass and assault the staff, we’re going to have problems,’ and then they just started chucking."
He's not everybody's cup of tea. And, lord knows, he's not some sort of perfect guy.
But I really like Biz. I think his heart's in the right place. And he's got a good sense of humour.
He was at the Keybank center for an appearance a couple weeks ago for the Blues game I believe. He hung around beyond the allotted/published time to do pictures and autographs. We chose not to stand in line, but it was definitely good vibes all around. Also he's larger than I expected.

Update - Gotham App (the replacement for MSG, which is $280 for the year) doesn't work on Roku TVs, arguably the most popular TV operating system. Unbelievable, but also not.

So is this on the Gotham app for those of us without cable provided MSG-B? I got my money back from MSG on Monday, but also an email from Gotham that they couldn't create my account. Suppose I'll try again tonight if still awake and sober enough.

I don't think it's coaching. They've reached the end of their run; time for a fire sale and rebuild. Which the Bruins will probably carry out in short order and once again leave the Sabres behind.
A coworker of mine is a Bruins season ticket holder. He's still convinced they will make the playoffs. Their goal differential stinks, but Caps shrugged it off last year. We'll see!
5 hours ago, DarthEbriate said:This poses a hypothetical situation (which we could easily see): If the Sabres and Bruins both miss the playoffs this season, which team makes the playoffs first? If I could be completely objective, this would be pretty interesting to see how each franchise were to go about it.

The Red Wings are preceding the Sabres through the California road trip. They earned 1 point combined vs. the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings.
And good job on the Habs shutting out the Oilers.
Boo Habs! Hoping Ullmark gets lit up tonight like his buddy Swayman has been.

Simple math:
6-on-5 (end of game with goalie pulled): 1.2 times the manpower
5-on-4: 1.25 times the manpower
4-on-3: 1.33 times the panpower
3-on-2: 1.5 times the manpower (doesn't happen in the NHL but just to show the trend)
2-on-1: 2 times the manpower (ditto)nicely done!
Lindy's presser from last night. I love the end where he talks about the A word without saying the A word. Relative to Dahlin and his bad elbowing penalty in critical moments of the Montreal game.

How anyone who has watched the Sabres power play this season NOT endorse what the Sabres did at the end there is beyond me.
His point was turn it into 3 minutes, to be fair.

Gives team a bit more space to work and recover rebounds... I was wondering about this too... seems like less chance of defending team able to dig pucks out of the corners and get help...
Yeah makes sense for sure. Wonder if the team has their own data. Guess we should assume so if Terry is throwing $500k in salary at it if a couple / three people.

Buffalo played smart at the end of that game... feels weird.
I was honestly confused at the moment. Does anyone have the stats on this? 4v3 odds vs 6v5 & 5v4. Also securing the point was likely a factor.
Listening to post game on the way home Hamilton said he didn't like it. Kozial said he thought it was smart. Neither had any data, which surprised me given it's their profession.

The Tweet is poorly written and doesn’t use quotes, so we don’t know what he said exactly. Even the word “maybe” could be the writers opinion.
All it tells me is that the culture change has not taken hold yet, and there are more changes needed to this roster. It’s going to take time and there will be updates and downs.

That this is still a discussion proves the wrong players are still here. Effort should never come up to a professional paid athlete. If you are paid to do a job, and if you cannot do it you are fired/let go. Stop giving out premature contracts and get players that want to play HOCKEY!!! Backcheck, forecheck, then paycheck!!! (From the instigators! LOL) The only reason we are still in any playoff hunt is that there is a ton of teams in the middle this year. But that herd will thin!!!!
How does this reconcile with "it's an 80% league"?

Is the hypothesis that they are hungover or depressed or both?

That lot's been where we park since literally the 90's. Stupid easy access back to the Kensington and Ra-cha-cha after the game and also the Union Pub before heading back.
Fun game. But so tired of getting 31 reffing our games. He's done at least 4 home games so far and he is not good. Waiting until Calgary scored to call the wrestling match outside the Sabres blue line was par for the course. Had Gilbert not been pinned there, there would've been a D covering the left side of the zone and clearing the puck away after UPL's initial save.
That guy is a joke and we seem to get stuck with 13 often too. (Pretty sure that's his 3rd game in Buffalo.) Don't they make these guys travel the full league footprint anymore?
Yeah seemed like interference on Gilbert to me. I haven't noticed the refs #s but someone near us was going off on 31 so maybe that explains it. They were naming names "thirty one!!!"
Funny re: parking lot. I sniffed it out 3 years ago when starting w/ the seasons and agree. You get a few steps in en route to the rink, but beat the traffic and keep a few bucks in your pocket.-

Took this one in today w/ the wife. Saw @Taro T in the parking lot to start, good omen. The Sabres were dominant through that PP in the 2nd and then another minute after, then things fell apart. During that 2nd period I thought Malenstyn had one of the best shifts I've seen from a Sabre in a very long time. Take-away, shot, big hit, huge hustle. I agree that 2nd goal was rough though. Most impressionable was Benson, what a joy to watch play. And then there's Greenway. My seats are on the bench side where Sabres defend twice. For the third Calgary shoot-out attempt Greenway was facing the fans w/ his back to the ice. He stared in our direction and couldn't watch. He celebrated with the roar of the crowd. Good stuff! We're definitely a damaged fan base, as damaged as they come, but these guys want it. On to 4 in a row!

Was lucky enough to go tonight, in town for work and then a flight delay. Sabres fans spread around and some obnoxious ones behind me. Felt pretty good, having been on the other side of it many times at KeyBank. UPL had the rags fans oohs and ahhs in frustration. Great night!

As long as I don't have to hear the "Woo" Birds throughout the game I think I will count this as a victory, at least personally.
The only thing more annoying that the people who love to do that throughout the game are the MSG producers who insist on having those microphone volumes mixed into the sound at a level that dominates the overall mix.
Anyway... hope they win. This is one of those games where they could play down to the Isles level. I hope not. I'd like to see an absolute stomping.
It's brutal! Pittsburgh seems to own this behavior and seeing/hearing it creep to Keybank is irritating. Actually had one near me Monday, but just once before puck drop.

Swayman 4 goals allowed on 10 shots in the first period tonight. A terrible shame. All my best to perreaultforever in this most difficult time.
Make it a half dozen in ~30 minutes of play. Bruins are getting clobbered.

Regarding new coach, you'd hope Appert would have familiarity from their time together in ROC and be able to assist. Another piece is potentially what's going in their personal lives. 23 years old, both him and Cozens. Girlfriend problems? We all know from our own careers it's pretty easy for some one to suck at work when going through stuff at home. Not suggesting it's any of our business, just throwing it out there.
Quinn Scratched…Who’s next?

Good conversation in here. On Quinn, I didn't notice the soft play last year. Not that he showed grit, just maybe all the awesome skilled play masked its absence. And I agree that Foligno's hit was awkward, I see it the way you describe it @PerreaultForever Like - that's it? You are standing in front of the crease, and you went down that easy? And now you are just sitting there? No response?
Pretty sure Quinn's year with ROC he was over point per game, and then disappeared in playoffs (while Krebs went down and lit it up). "He's gripping his stick too tight" was the primary narrative. Maybe it was the increased intensity instead? Ugh. Really see this guy as a key to the Sabres having success. Hopeful he works through it and can at least stand up for himself when needed - maybe like Reinhart or Pommers. Samson is as soft as they come (one of the reasons we sucked again in my opinion), but now he has the big D teammate mojo all around and it's not a problem.
