It feels like the rest of the league is feasting on meat and potatoes and the Sabres are fighting for the parsley garnish.

This is not an NHL move. Depth goalie for Rochester. Who cares at this point?

Sabres Sign Jason Zucker to a One Year 5 Million AAV Deal
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
As I expected, the Sabres overpaid for a middle six forward. Wash, rinse, repeat. Kevyn Adams probably feels he just replaced the hole created by dumping Skinner and he bought another year to find someone else. -
Jacob Bryson will not receive a qualifying offer from the Sabres
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I just have a feeling Kevyn Adams thinks Girgensons is a key player. And you wonder why this team has sucked for so long? If he lets Zemgus go, I will change my tune and get more optimistic. -
Sabres Trade the 11th pick to San Jose for 14th and 42nd Overall
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I feel another trade is coming. The Sabres are going to package a couple draft picks and a player for an established forward. Just my guess. -
Seth Appert to join Sabres Coaching Staff
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
IMO, this team was in desperate need of fresh ideas and fresh voices from outside the organization. These incestuous hires are not what this organization needs. What exactly has Seth Appert accomplished? He may be a fine person, but this "more of the same" attitude is not helping. Where are the new ideas? Where are the new perspectives? The organization has lost all objectivity when evaluating the roster? They have fallen in love with these current players and have lost sight of the big picture. The team needs a new direction and not more lipstick on a pig! -
Lindy Ruff, reintroductory press conference 1pm, 4/23/2024
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Can Owen Power be converted from the softest defenseman in the league? If so, Lindy deserves to be made King of the World. -
Lindy Ruff, reintroductory press conference 1pm, 4/23/2024
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Lindy Ruff from 1999 had fire in his belly. Fast forward to 2024 and I don't see it anymore. My guess is that in three years, Ruff won't be coaching anymore. I hope it works out for the best, but today I'm skeptical. Time will tell. -
Adams press conference post trade deadline
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
Adams said in the presser that he drafted Peyton Krebs because we know he has offensive abilities. Attention Kevyn Adams: you didn't draft Krebs!! He was acquired by trade. I'm glad KA is on the ball.. what me worried? -
Sabres sign Defenseman Connor Clifton to 3 year 3.33 AAV Deal
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
This is the end for a couple players for sure. They didn't sign Johnson and Clifton to bench them. Bryson is almost certainly gone. Stillman is very doubtful. Jokiharu is not sleeping well. Something has gotta give. Hopefully, they can get something in return for them. -
Jeez! Another small skilled forward. The only thing he's missing is that he's not Swedish. Why does Buffalo hate bigger players who can win playoff type hockey?
-
As of Monday March 20 the Sabres have a better chance of drafting Connor Bedard than making the playoffs. (source: moneypuck.com) If history is any guide I can see it now. At number 11 in the 2023 draft the Sabres draft a highly skilled skater from Sweden who comes in at 5'8" 162lb. The Sabres scouting staff loves him.
-
Don't start a fight when your team has no fighters! The Sabres have no answer against physical teams. It's a preview of playoff hockey. If you can't handle the rough stuff, then your team is in trouble. Hopefully, Kevyn Adams has realized that this team can be bullied. He even said so. It's time to add more toughness. At least 4 players are needed who can stand up to teams like Boston, TB, and others.

Rasmus Asplund traded to Nashville for a 2025 7th Round Pick
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The Sabres obviously saw no future for him in Buffalo. They also wanted to make space in the roster for Greenway I believe. A 7th rounder for him tells me they just gave up on him. RFA next year. -
Sabres trade (D) Priskie for (D) Austin Strand (AHL deal)
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Strand is bigger than Priskie. Strand played on the worst team in the AHL. Maybe he's better than his numbers? -
The East has the top 6 teams in the league. It has been an absolute arms race in the trade market. It wouldn't be the worst thing if the Sabres miss the playoffs this year. The Sabres are seeing a blueprint on how to prepare for the playoffs. The real contenders are loading up on tough competitive players who are necessary in the playoffs. The Sabres are so ill prepared for the playoffs right now. The team has very little toughness and will easily get steamrolled in the playoffs this year. Kevyn Adams needs to makes this team tougher and harder to play against. They need some bottom six size and muscle up front and some much stronger bottom three defense. The future is bright if the team (KA) recognizes that what works in the playoffs is a much different animal than what works in the regular season.

Sabres Sign UFA Goalie Eric Comrie 2 Years 1.8 Million AAV
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Two excellent signings. A tough right shot defenseman and a solid goalie who will bridge the gap until Sabres goalie prospects are ready. -
Welcome to Team Sweden Linus.
-
I was thinking the same. He is going to be expendable sooner rather than later.
-
Maybe the Sabres think "undersized" is the key to success?

Senators Goalie Matt Murray says No to a Sabres Trade
PotentPowerPlay21 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It would have been a very good trade IF Murray wanted to play in Buffalo. He doesn't, so it is time to move on. No hard feelings. However, there are more options out there. KA is trying to use the cap space wisely I think. We'll see if he finds another option in the top 6 of the draft. My guess is the Sabres want one of the top 2 right shot defenseman who are projected to go before pick 9. -
For those of you who are analytics geeks like me, the following pdf creates a statistical analysis of the value of all draft picks. It's a handy reference to evaluate trades involving draft picks. It gives each draft pick a numerical value for comparisons. http://myslu.stlawu.edu/~msch/sports/Schuckers_NHL_Draft.pdf

I have no confidence in the current GM to get a fair trade for Eichel. None. He is a perfect example of the Peter Principle. He has risen to the level of his incompetence. What a sad state of affairs. I don't blame players for bailing out of this pathetically managed franchise.
