Out of more than 2000. Listen... I'm not saying he was a contender, just that he was noted for his defensive skills as a forward and earned some votes. It's really sad that the only other Sabre to even get a vote last season for any major award was VO. 28 votes for the Lady Byng. He finished 23rd. https://www.hockey-reference.com/awards/voting-2022.html

But this year will be quite different.

I think 2000 is the points based on The Professional Hockey Writers votes 1-5. And the association has like 200 members.  So even less impressive.  Based on the writers from Buffalo they could have colluded to get Ras a few more #5 votes.   Here is the link for the Buffalo “chapter”.  You think they have a year end party?  If so, does it rival the Tri Lambs?

  2. Quinn meets expectations on FL#1.   Like Mitts as of late but Quinn is clearly third best winger.  Another vet on the left with Cozens and the FL#2 will be something to watch.

UPL sliding into the third slot.

Vinnie had a sneaky good game.

JJP needs to watch the next game from the press box.  Not sure Asplund will make that much of a difference but dude has been invisible.

If all it costs is a third round pick, do not let Jensen get on that flight out west with the Caps.  Keep him in the 716.  Not sure I can watch another Clague and Bryson start.

The Rags picking up somebody from Vancouver too?

That move doesn't make sense on 1st glance.

    From The Post…

WASHINGTON — It is all falling into place off the ice for the Rangers, who on Saturday took the required preliminary steps to clear enough cap space to accommodate the acquisition of Patrick Kane by waiving Jake Leschyshyn and trading Vitali Kravtsov to Vancouver for spare parts.

The savings through those two maneuvers should allow the Blueshirts to add Kane to the roster before their game Wednesday at Philadelphia, per CapFriendly, though they will have to do without Kane on Sunday when the Kings visit the Garden for an early evening start.

They suggest the Sabres should be in on this trade. The ask, 2023 1st, Ryan Johnson and Rasmus Asplund.  The AAV is bigger than Chychrun, but not that much more.  Risk is the 7 years remaining and taking him until he is 36, but the cost (if accurate) is much less for what could be a more stabilizing force for a guy like Power, than Chychrun.

Parayko is low - #30 on TSN trade bait.

It's difficult to summarize because there were so many potential trades commented on. One interesting comment dealt with Arizona and the trading of Chychrun. There was the thought that Arizona overplayed its hand by waiting to trade him. It was felt that the trading of other defensemen for more reasonable prices devalued the return on Chychrun. The Shayna Goldman segment was worth listening to. The Dreger segment wasn't

    Is it ever?

Somehow, despite everyone in the family being huge Sabres fans, my in laws managed to schedule a bday party for a one year old at noon today.  Thankfully I am recording the game.

Is “a” one year old the same as “their” one year old?  Not saying it matters on attending the party, just asking with respect to the age of you wife.  Maybe your father in law is the Alec Baldwin type that spawns until his mid 60’s.

    Go Sabres!

I'm unsure how you fit Meier into our long term cap

    In your ‘24 projected cap:

There is almost $3m in space.
Mitts isn’t there.  Replaced by one of Savoie or Ohstlund on ELC minimums.  Thats another $2m.
One of your 4th line contracts could be Kulich on an ELC.
Owens bridge is closer to $6.5m not $8m.

The back up goalie could be an ELC.
All of your scratches could be vet mins or ELC and/or waiver eligible that would not affect the Cap.
Meier would replace one of those $2.5m 4th line salaries, thus requiring and incremental $6.5-7m.  I think the changes I suggested saves $9m.
