  1. Another GM, a real GM would. But one beholden to “their” contracts will not. Just think what it would be like to have Rasmus Andersson on this squad at $4.5 instead of Power. A more mature player at half the salary. Your implication is our hate for Samuelson is past tense. Mine is still there, it’s just on airplane mode. Let’s see how long the flight is before I reconnect.
  2. My Dearest Rachel, I take pen in hand this evening by the dim light of a tallow candle, hoping this letter finds you and the children in good health and safe from all harm. It has been some days since last I wrote, for the fighting has been fierce and near constant, and the noise of the guns gives a man little peace to collect his thoughts. The field here is a cruel sight, my love. I have seen men I marched beside since the first muster now lying silent upon the ground, and others borne to the rear with wounds so grave I scarcely can bear to look. Our company has been sorely tried — nearly half are down with wounds or sickness — yet those who remain stand firm, hearts fixed on the cause and the thought of home. Still, we have not lost our spirit. Word came down yesterday that fresh troops are on the way from the North, and supplies, too. When we heard that Corporal Kesselring and Captain Greenway were en route, the men cheered loud enough to wake the heavens themselves. The officers tell us that with these reinforcements we shall soon strike a final blow, and that the end of this terrible business may at last be in sight. Kiss the children for me, and tell them their father fights so that they might grow up in a land where the West of NY is feared and not a laughing stock of the other regimens. Keep faith, my love — victory is near, and I shall soon hold you again. Your devoted husband, Major General Tage Thompson 100th volunteer infantry regiment
  3. Thelma….Zoiks!
  4. How about combining this thread with the Owen Power thread. Trade Power, Krebs, UPL and a protected first for Andersson, Coleman and Kadri. Add scoring, grit and Right handed two way Defensemen while jettisoning your overpaid #3 goaltender. Calgary doesn’t care as they are bottoming out.
  5. Agreed on this point. I feel like Lindy had the decision on starting Ellis, and made the right one. Unfortunately, injury prevented him from starting. Plan B could have been bring up Levi or Gorgiev from Rochester to take the game and keep UPL in The AHL for the allotted time for rehab (2 weeks I read in another thread?). This is an Adams decision that played out to be ill conceived. What’s abundantly obvious is Lyon is THE number one, but the board sentiment, and maybe even our coaching staff has Ellis as a clear number 2. Especially after Mr. softies -1.9 expected last night.
  6. Somebody is fired up today! Love to see the passion. Did the staff forget to add the salt peter to the mashed potatoes last night at the home? Moody Wretch!
  7. Lyon and Ellis >> UPL and Levi Kozak/Östlund >> Krebs/Dunne Quinn can play. Why does he go multiple games looking like the invisible man? If Kozak and Östlund remain, where does Greenway slot in? Fill in for Zucker if he is injured?
  8. You’re going to disagree with ***** Hall of Fame Dman? Biz (who I can see you questioning his opinion) and King Henry all agreed with Cheli. That’s the problem. Dahlin isn’t getting great coaching to diagnose those plays. That sequence was a microcosm of why this team is stuck in neutral. Controlled the pace of play but small mistakes cost them.
  9. Thanks for confirming you’re not suffering Age related cognitive decline or just plain loco.
  10. Why are you listening to the radio ? There are actual professionals on the TBS broadcast.
  11. The truth lies somewhere in between. Beck had a very good game Saturday afternoon. He played quite a bit as the Sabres had 7 minor penalties. He’s a good second pairing on the PK. Tuch and McLeod, above average and both played elite yesterday. He also had three blocked shots on the PK. Malenstyn also played a significant role in adding energy and providing hits against Florida when playing 5v5. And I’m not talking about stat sheet hits that really aren’t hits. His three registered hits were all solid. We need more of this guy, bc as you pointed out, the super-genius GM overpaid for Beck when Robinson was out there for free. He’s a better option, and cheaper than Zemgus was/is. But your point about his -16 last year is a concern.
