    Nice breakdown.

Someone made the argument to me that Thompson-Eakin-Reinhart could re-create Tuch-Eakin-Pactioretty, and I buy that.

Unlike a lot of Sabres twitter, I will buy into non-analytical reasons to sign a guy (good leader, experience, will punch someone) at the right price, and while high, Eakin's deal isn't back-breaking.

we're basically out of forward spots. (LD is an option though)

After seeing Dahlin's photo, I don't think there will be a re-occurance without justice.

But the argument is this gives them a permanent advantage. Yet if we review things, they aren't always good or even in the conversation. Clearly the advantage is highly limited if at all.

5 of 20 teams from low income or no income tax states. Again, if this were a real advantage why don't we see it more and why is it that half of the teams from those low income states continually suck. Coyotes, Panthers, Dallas has only been good once through this.

Where I can see the advantage is 50% of their games are at home.

50% of games at 0%in Fla as compared to 50% at NY tax rate could be significant.

That hasn't stopped Mon, Pitt, Ott, Min, and many others from getting deals done.

Many of the trades weren't made months ago.

On a separate note...some are pointing to Mitts as the 3C as of now. I think that could be that we might be forgetting we might have an upgrade to Mitts in Routsalainin(sp). I'd like to see what he's got.

I also wonder if Z won't be moved up to 3rd line and 4th line be Asplund/Lazar/KO.

    Skinner/Jack/Sam

    VO/Staal/Cozens

    Z/Routs/Tage

    Asplund/Lazar/KO

Any upgrades to bottom six would be welcome but this is better than depending on Mitts.

What does "Here is the plan so far" mean to you.  So far except the Staal move, everything is just status quo for a team that can't do status quo any longer.  That doesn't mean he can't make a big impact in free agency or through a trade, but as I and others have pointed out, his cap space will be down to 10 mill or less given the internal cap after re-signing RFAs Reinhart, Ullmark, Montour, and VO etc..

And no the off-season hasn't just started.  Ours started months ago.  KA has had plenty of time to move on from Montour, Risto and/or Miller through trade.  He has time to buyout Hutton and move on.  All we have to show so far is Staal, a move I love.  This isn't about JBot.  It's about being aggressive now and improving this team.

Also now that we are a budget team, regardless of whether it's 76mill or 72 mill or even less, the tighter the budget the more important it is to make every penny count.  The Thompson and Z contracts may represent that the budget constraints aren't a much as feared, or a symptom of our inexperienced rookie GM or both.  I'm inclined to believe it's the latter.

Although this may be true our trading partners were very limited.

Wouldn't you rather pluck a player off Tampa roster than Detroit's. Plus, QO for RFA's and free agency just arrived.

The fact so many on this board are so high on Rossi means other gms will likely feel the same and I’m assuming he won’t be there.

Because of this.... I have a good feeling that Stutzle could be the one to drop.

I've seen Ott taking Rossi at #3 and either a D or Askarov at 5. I think the D is more likely. Have also seen where they take Rossi and Raymond.

The link is much stronger than that.

“The Red Wings, of course, have the fourth pick despite having by far the league’s worst record this season. The team already has a relationship with Perfetti.

Detroit’s amateur scouting director, Kris Draper, is partners with Brandon Bordeaux, whose family has billeted Perfetti for the last two seasons, Wings senior vice president Jimmy Devellano and former Detroit goalie and Red Wings TV analyst Chris Osgood have an ownership stake in the Spirit. And Perfetti has been working out with former Detroit conditioning coach Pete Renzetti.“

So if they don't take him are we to be concerned?

The problem is whom and how do you protect as far as the vulnerable? A 60 yr old who works for a living to make ends meet but has underlying conditions still had bills to pay and needs food to eat. How do you protect the younger people with underlying conditions?

What is back to normal? Does the 40yr old still go see grandma at the nursing home every week?

There needs to be some kind of plan other than just back to normal/ shut down everything.

Eichel can ask but he is under contract. I believe with a few smart moves we can accomplish the improvements without trading #8. I'm not against trading it but not sure who's out there to make it worth #8. The cost constraints we're under now will dictate a lot about how we work this.

I tend to agree, don't trade the pick. There is going to be someone available that should help soon enough. I know people don't like to wait but I'll state my concern.

If we trade #8, add a few players and make the playoffs, then Jack and fans are happy. We lose in the first round then what? We still have the same pipeline without that pick. Now we're picking in the area of #20 and that pick is even less likely to be immediate help. Do we keep trading to better the team because we have no pipeline? Groundhog day.

  10. I think the link to Detroit/Perfetti is in part that he played @ Saginaw Spirits. Yserman likely had more opportunities to see him in person for evaluation.

I saw some reports where people called him a "local boy", even though he only played 2yrs there and is from near Toronto.

If Adams signs Fast I will reveal myself as Kevyn Adams.

Day 1 - Be more like Kevyn Adams

Day 2 - Be more Kevyn Adams

Day 3 - Be Kevyn Adams

    Day 4 - Kevyn Adams

    Day 5 - Pick up dry-cleaning

After all that, we'll add your accomplishments to your Running Record...thread.

Honestly you still missed what I was trying to say.

Jack Quinn should not be picked in the top 10. I am not sure he should be picked in the top 15 but definitely 20. If we were drafting 18th... yea I think I would love Quinn there. At 15... eh maybe. At 8... no. There are players that are simply better. Better skating, better passing, better hockey IQ. I don't hate Quinn which seems to be something you are driving at, I just don't think he's worth the pick. Seth Jarvis does everything Quinn does but does it better.

For the record I had Arthur Kaliyev and Nick Robertson in that 15-25 range last year. So your point about players falling to you etc... was not a good one. My point with mentioning them at all was do demonstrate how in a deep draft (I still think 2019 was deeper than this draft) you can find these types of guys because they will slide. Buffalo missed the chance because their GM was one of the dumbest drafting GMs in league history. Quinn would be in my 15-20 range and if he fell to 31, that's why I would have taken him there. I was simply showing how last year you could have had an equivalent player to Quinn without wasting an 8th overall pick on a player like Quinn. Quinn should be taken in the teens, he probably won't but I find the juxtaposition of him especially with Roberston hilarious. I was the one who said the Johnson pick was dumb and here we are 1 year later talking about drafting Nick Robertson's point equal at 8th overall. What a world. It is funny and shows why excluding the CHL for 3 years was stupid and shows why you need to create a draft list that isn't based on BS. Because some years the Quinn's slide and you can get a steal.

Marco Rossi would be the perfect player for Adams first draft.

I've been seeing a lot of mocks where Rossi is going to Ottawa, Detroit, or Joysie with Perfetti dropping. What's your take if Perfetti is there? I assume he's the pick? Is size the reason for the drop or is there something else?

Not sure where you're going w/ this.  The comment was that it could be difficult to stay positive & focused.  Keeping their people focused with a positive mindset; THAT is something leaders do - especially those that are world class.

He might not have the horses he needs, but he darn sure better have the team focused and in the right mindset.  Pretty sure he'll accomplish that; if he doesn't, he can hit the bricks.

The only real constant with the Sabres problems the last 9yrs is the owners.

That's where I was going with it. One GM wasn't the mistake nor made the only mistake.

Other than that... I agree with you.

They terminated his contact so he could do that. And they only terminated his contract because no one would trade for him. And they were attempting to trade him because he requested a trade this season officially.

Correct...they terminated his contract because he didn't report to Roch. He later signed w/Tampa as FA. There was no trade.

Just wanted to clarify that. No doubt it turned out to be a bad situation and hate to see that happen.

    We good?
