  1. Florida pretty much coasted to that win. Easy game for them. Sabres were never really in it. You can see that the Sabres are nowhere near the true cup contenders. Not much to say. They skated around for a bit. A couple of them worked up a sweat.
  2. The timing allows Davidson to put all the blame on him and to clean house in any way he wants before bringing in the "new era" with whoever the new guy is. He's pretty much free to do anything so if I was a GM I'd be talking to him.
  3. On a back to back after Pittsburgh I'm not sure we will see Florida's A game tonight and we might luck into them taking us as an easy game but if they bring their game it'll be a massive test on our D that I think Power and others will fail at. Heavy heavy forecheck when they want it. It's a true test.
  4. I want to see what he does NEXT year AFTER signing his big contract with whoever (maybe Florida). I doubt he puts these numbers up again but we shall see,
  5. Might I suggest that if Skinner was like "most players" than the idea of trading him wouldn't be there.
  6. Oh I think that's absolutely definite and that's our biggest problem. Any owner who takes the time to sit in on scouting meetings is definitely meddling. Anyone who has worked in a big company or corporation knows that nobody is themselves when the CEO or President comes to the meeting and most everybody will tell the guy what they think he wants to hear. Just being in the room influences the dynamic.
  7. Oh I think it's a fine statistic to look at but in the end there are always exceptions to almost every stat and the only one that matters is win percentage.ti I think Washington definitely drops. NYI probably but they are a veteran team, might still pull off a deadline deal and the Roy effect is unknown. Montreal is an odd one. I didn't expect them to be (relatively) even with us and thought they were in for the multi year rebuild but they seem to be doing a very good job. They are less skilled but also a much tougher team than us and they might (stress "might") be better than us down the stretch if grittier playoff style hockey comes into play. Ottawa is playing better as well so even with improved play, we could still finish dead last in the division.
  8. Ya, but he'd also know exactly what's missing, and it's really not that many players. If the GM was on the same page and they made the 3-4 moves needed, Peca could mold the rest in his image. Berube is similar and proven so I'd be fine with that as well. Or Gallant. MacLellan I am less excited about but would be willing to try. My dream scenario is Carolina does not keep Brind'Amour and Kev has his private number. Now I personally think it'll be Granato next year and I won't like it, but if they do make the move whoever it is has to someone who demands a work ethic every night and full accountability. No fun times without winning first.
  9. Simply because you do not ever trade away youth with as much upside as he shows. Not unless the return is so incredible you can't say no (which won't happen). There's a sweet spot around the age of 20-21 where you decide for your own organization if you really think your prospect has "it" or he won't, and if you think won't you move him while some other GM might still think he has an upside to him and before he reveals himself to be a meh or even a bust. Benson, for his age, appears to have "it".
  10. Or, if we string a bunch of good games together like the LA one, KA will decide NOT to trade anybody and will bring Kyle back again next year.
  11. Another example how stats out of context mean very little. Lots of one goal wins and bigger GD losses. Win 3-2 and then lose 5-1 you've got a -3 GD but you are .500, that's Washington. Veteran players better at holding a slim late lead (when they have one). Same for the Islanders. I'd guess same for Montreal but I'd have to look that up and I'm lazy 🙂 They are losing more lately though and likely will keep dropping.
  12. Whole mess of scouts at the Bruins Tampa game and I'm thinking they were not there to watch Marchand play his 1000th game. Bruins obviously talking to a lot of people and want to do something. No idea what.
  13. Well, given the usual, idk what you say about this game? Most unexpected. They actually played pretty damn good hockey. Now in fairness, LA was crap and they had some Comrie level goaltending but Sabres were still playing well. I'm starting to wonder if that Pierre Luc Dubois is in fact an actual cancer. Torts was right? Something definitely wrong on that team and the coach was not the problem obviously. Sabres played some good hockey though. Even went to the net. A one off? Too late? Another after the fact late season rush that leaves us just outside? idk, but I'm very interested to see what they bring against Florida.
  14. Where he would play and what ice time he would get on a good team is a hypothetical that can't really be answered, but what bothers me is this coaching staff rarely if ever talks about the need for improvement and they don't sit any of these guys even when they suck in a game. Zero accountability and a very low standard. Power just gets to play and learn (?) from his mistakes. I contrast that with Torts who has had Drysdale sit several nights since they got him and although Torts has also praised him he's said quite clearly "there's a lot of work to do on this guy". Now I know Drysdale wasn't a first overall and they are not the same (Power should be better) but the standard and the development path differences are huge and significant.
  15. I really like Lauko but I think so do the Bruins. He would be good for the Sabres though.
  16. No. Definitely no. Those guys are pure AHL roster fillers and nothing more. On a good day maybe Clague level but definitely not NHL players. I could see Adams wanting Lysell. He fits the (dumb) Sabres ideas on young picks but I see him no better than our former Nylander. He also might want Mitchell as he's a "puck mover" but it would be a mistake. If Adams wants Zboril, it's time to find another team to cheer for.
  17. I know the Sabres suck. It's easy to keep up on Bruins prospects because there aren't very many of them.
  18. Lohrei is their best unless you count Poitras but they won't give him up easily if at all. Merkulov is better than Lysell. Beecher is the most NHL ready. Locmelis is a maybe, and that's about it.
  19. Lysell's been garbage. I could easily see the Bruins ditching him but he is NOT what the Sabres need.
  20. I read your comment as saying it's value was up because of Pegula. I thought I stated that clearly. It's VERY easy to misread internet comments. I'm sure you know that and it happens often.
  21. In person hearing offered so there will be a suspension after all I think. https://www.nhl.com/news/maple-leafs-morgan-rielly-offered-in-person-hearing-with-player-safety
  22. Just as an addendum, Bruins fans seem to think this might involve Mitts and are worried that the return might be Swayman. Fan talk though, not facts. Funny to read though.
  23. I mulled this over in my brain and have no idea why this might be a rumor. Now I could see them looking at Zemgus if he was offered cheap as there is a 4th line spot that Montgomery can't seem to settle on or be happy with but I'm not sure what they'd do with Kyle. He'd fit the style and they might even think he could play with Marchand or Coyle but there's no open spot. They have to be moving on from DeBrusk or making some other move like Hanifin that creates a hole. As a Sabres fan the guy I'd want is Trent Frederic but I really doubt the Bruins would give him up and Bruins fans would scream. If the Bruins don't value him the other good snag would be Jacob Lauko. Super high energy, great locker room guy, pretty tough and very popular, but Bruins don't seem to value him as much as the fans. The other possible would be John Beecher who they sent back to Providence. Could be a solid 4th line center. Big and fast and very good on face offs, but unlikely to score much. An upgrade from Krebs though. Otherwise I think you are looking at 3rd round picks and lower and probably salary retention on Kyle at least. One other thought on Zemgus, Bruins have a promising Latvian prospect in Dans Locmelis so we could get a younger Latvian or maybe the Bruins want Zemgus to mentor him. idk. Just a thought.
