  1. Sure. I don’t mind being wrong on prospects, just call it as I see it. I doubt it’s too common for a prospect goalie to go from being the worst in the AHL, for a sustained period of time, to NHL goalie. But we’ll see.
  2. No, but I’m not whining. I’m stating facts. Twitter was a cesspool when Dell started. What exactly did people expect? If Dell is your 3rd goalie, he needs to play more often. This isn’t a controversial thought. UPL will get plenty of games regardless. I don’t even know what you think I’m whining about. I’m fully resigned to UPL playing and costing the Amerks points this year. It’s a reality of the league.
  3. Then Sabres fans shouldn’t bitch when he stinks in the NHL. That’s my point. And UPL is hardly the number 1 priority. He’s never going to amount to anything. The priority, from a development perspective, is developing Quinn, Peterka and Krebs
  4. Sure, but Dell still could’ve played more often. If you’re depending on him to step in and play in Buffalo, he needs to stay sharp in Rochester, not ride the bench.
  5. They were, but the Sabres were also wrong in how they handled Dell. People are shredding him for how he played, and he was bad, but he’s barely played in Rochester. 3 games I think. And then you call him up and expect to play well against a team with all that talent? If Dell is you 3rd goalie, he should be playing more often in Rochester.
  6. The Amerks haven’t won a playoff series in 16 years. 16!! What you described is not winning. It’s nothing. It produces no excitement, generates no new fans, and has rendered a once powerhouse franchise mostly irrelevant.
  7. The Pegulas run everything afar from Buffalo as far as pricing, and from what I’ve heard they don’t provide much of a budget for marketing and promoting the team. Most importantly, the Amerks haven’t won in forever. Winning brings in new fans and keeps them.
  8. This being said, you have to be better than 2 goals on home ice. They had 4 power plays in the first period. You have Quinn, Krebs, Peterka, Jankowski. That’s just not good enough.
  9. That’s what he does. I’ve watched it for 3 years. He’s always letting in some soft goal that absolutely kills the team. It feels like every game.
  10. The 3rd goal was banked in off of him from behind the net. He’s still awful.
  11. He’s waiver exempt for 2 more years or after he plays 60 NHL games.
  12. They only called him up to have an extra forward on the road.
  13. If Utica wins, they’ll tie the 1984 Amerks who have the record for the most consecutive wins to start an AHL season. Hope it’s a little extra motivation.
  14. Because they had no choice. They ran out of goalies and needed to sign him. That’s unlikely to happen again.
  15. No, it’s not better. He’s on an AHL contract. They’re not calling him up. Not only because they literally can’t contractually, but also because he’s not an NHL goalie.
  16. I think people really need to take a step back with Dell. He’s played 100 NHL games with respectable numbers. He has elite AHL numbers. Michael Houser has barely played above the ECHL. Please, people, get a grip. They’re not calling Houser up, who is on an AHL contract anyway.
  17. Connor Ingram was on waivers, and I think he would’ve been worth a look.
  18. .887 save percentage in 33 games. The sample size could be bigger, but that’s bad. Those are 1980s numbers. Even a .900 save percentage these days is pretty bad, and he’s well below that.
  19. Aside from the last week, UPL has been one on the worst goalies in the AHL over the last 3 years. Calling him up would be a terrible idea.
  20. I’ve been hard on him, but haven’t really changed my opinion on him. He absolutely had a great week, and earned the award. But I need to see more out of him consistently, and longer term. Happy to be wrong on him.
  21. As I posted the other day, I don’t get this team. Tons of talent, but they actually kind of stink Their record is a bit of an illusion. Appert needs to get it figured out, because they should look much better then they do based on their roster.
  22. On a relative basis, yes. But even the worst NHL teams would smoke AHL teams with ease.
  23. Davidson and Schuldt are both hurt. Edit: Davidson didn’t dress, but Schuldt left the game, so he may be getting extra ice time.
  24. I’ve noticed a bit of a regression with this offense. Not as explosive, not finishing. They are fast, and they’ll produce chances on the rush, but they’re always getting dominated when it comes to puck possession. Strange team, they have a lot of talent, but don’t seem to really play to the level of their talent.
  25. We’ve seen it, sadly. They get blown out. UPL barely gives them a chance to win.
