  1. KA say be patient, I'll have an answer for you
  2. He'll just call him JRB.
  3. I'm not a big fan of Bader's work.
  4. Again, then you can't "count" on any draft pick, because all picks can tell their NHL teams to F-off after a certain period of time. Savoie can say he doesn't want to be a Sabre and return to the draft in 2 years. Is that going to happen? Unlikely but it could. Odds are he signs in the coming days and goes back to the WHL for next season. Euro's can also sign and return to their current clubs. This is probably why KA and his staff are concentrating on Euros in their drafts. They get 4 years to develop the player, but can still sign them. That's my biggest gripe with the college thing. Now with NIL, I think teams in all sports should be able to draft a college kid and return him to the school depending on the kids goals. It would eliminate this alleged problem.
  5. You can say that about any drafted player. Euro can walk away after 4 years just like the college kids. Teams only have 2 years to sign CHL draftees. Guess what, how many drafted college kids in the history of the Sabres walked if the Sabres offered them a contract? 1, Cal Petersen. Levi was very clear with KA. He had zero problem with signing with the Sabres but wanted to go back to school for a chance to win a championship. Portillo is in much the same boat. He is in Michigan's excellent business school and wants to finish his degree and try to win a championship. There is no indication that he won't sign as well. If KA felt he had little or no chance to sign these guys, their rights would have already been traded. Sabres put together another improved year and the likelihood they don't sign further decreases.
  6. Please see above.
  7. Not exactly accurate. As long as the Sabres hold his rights he is counted against our 90 player Reserve List. There are 3 important lists. First, the NHL roster of 23. Second the Contracts list limited to 50 players. This includes all 23 NHL players, plus injured players and minor leaguers in the AHL or ECHL signed by the Sabres. Signed players in the CHL don't typically count toward the 50. All of draftees or players we hold the signing rights to (like Pilut) count toward the 90 player Reserve List. So yes, Levi is in our system.
  8. Probably and then a late season visit to Rochester if they don't go deep into the Memorial Cup playoffs
  9. Kevyn, just because of team colors are blue and gold, it doesn't mean you ahve to draft every possible Swede.
  10. Not at all. Tobias was the top goalie (and only goalie) on my draft board. I had him at 81. (My consensus board had him at 86) Like I said, I don't have a problem with the player, just where he was taken. Brennan, who many thought was the best goalie, went in the 4th round to NJ at pick 102.
  11. Devin Levi just turned 20 in December.
  12. Maybe the next Vyacheslav Buravchikov. Yuri was a forward and a pretty decent player. I doubt Komarov ever plays for the us.
  13. My biggest gripe isn't with the player, but the feeling that there was better value at 41 with an RHD which we lack in the system. The Sabres haven't invested a 1st or 2nd rd pick on a RHD since Risto in 2013.
  14. That would be great. I hope he becomes a star.
  15. That's kind of scary
  16. I was talking about the 155 games and 62 total points he gave us. A 52 goals playing with the Stastnys isn’t really relevant to Jacques time in Buffalo.
  17. No, Bader has no idea what he is talking about. 2020-21 Östlund played 10 games at the U20 Swedish team and had 15 pts in those 10 games. He also had 2 pts in 5 U18 WJC 2021-22 He played 32 games for the U20 team putting up 42 including 33 assists. He also exploded at the U18’s w 10 pts in 6 games. Byron can you say small sample size for the 10 games on the U20 team in 20/21?
  18. 31g in 41 games in Swedish Jrs
  19. Matt Seminoff at 179 is a huge value pickup for Dallas. He was ranked by Mckeens at 62 and Dobber at 70. Come on Sabres take Mittelstadt with the next pick.
  20. No pressure kid, but you are now the 2nd best RHD prospect in the Sabres system and the top RHD can’t actually defend. Congrats that is quite a distinction.
  21. Hopefully he’ll turn out better than former Sabre great Jacques Richard.
  22. Novikov or Komarov, whatever. The odds either ever play for the Sabres are a out 10%. KA had a chance to get a solid RHD prospect at 41 and took another large Finish goalie with a 4th rd grade instead.
  23. Another value pick. Still want Luke Mittelstadt.
  24. Laaksonen and Novikov
