They will fire Ruff a week after another team hires DeBoer and then claim they had to just promote Appert because there was no one worthy to hire from the outside at this point.

Even with this good 10 game stand before tonight they were just one point from the bottom anyways. They will go to the bottom and stay there unless major changes are made. Which of course will not be forthcoming.

What in the world took them so long? And why are they even there?

Steve Ott has managed to stay an asst coach with the Blues through at least 2-3 head coaching changes over the years, probably more than that. Not sure if that’s impressive or sad.

The Sabres could have possibly moved into a playoff spot tonight with a win. Instead they chose to play uninspired hockey against an inferior opponent so that they could stay at the bottom of the standings, where they are most comfortable. Tells you all you need to know about this years team. No different than past years.

You’ve answered your own question. The Sabres are not really a potential playoff team. They lose these games fairly routinely unfortunately.

And Ruff isn’t a smart enough coach anymore to know which goalie to go with. We all saw this coming when they rushed UPL back from his injury and his one day Rochester stint. They just couldn’t wait to go back to UPL. Adams and Ruff have chosen to die on the UPL hill. Would cost most people their jobs. Not here of course.

Yeah but that’s a different animal than making breakaway saves during game time. He never makes those.

How many breakaways has Lyon stopped already this year? UPL isn’t stopping a breakaway. Never can make the big save when it’s really needed.

Sabres need to just punt on OT games. Always the same result.

That’s why they won’t trade him. There is no return suitable enough to convince Adams to give up his #1 draft choice. That’s the dilemma we are in. Once we have a different GM the odds go way up of a trade for quite a few of these guys. The next GM won’t be emotionally married to these guys like Adams is.

Ruff shouldn’t be a head coach in the NHL anymore.
