Well, what we know is: -He has an incredible amount of experience in various NHL front office roles. This alone is a valuable resource for Adams. -He has been a part of the Carolina FO for the past couple years. That group has been among the most progressive and analytics driven in the NHL, so I doubt they would have brought him in if he was ardently opposed to such things. Personally, I would be pleased with any long time NHL FO guy brought in to ride shotgun with Adams, because I think it would benefit him.
-
My take: He is an internet writer, but he is also just a guy on Twitter. Sometimes he says things that are just his opinion/feelings, and that’s ok. When he says he has heard things from sources, I believe him, and it seems quite reliable. In this particular tweet, he doesn’t say anything about sources or being told anything. It seems like its probably just his general feeling without any hard information behind it.

The NBA created it, the NHL copied it. I like it, I think it works. The idea is to remove the incentive for embarrassing tanking (remember what that is like?), and it does that.
-
This would make me pretty happy. He has been a part of a well run FO in Car recently. One that it seems Buffalo would like to emulate to an extent. He has a ton of experience that could probably be a great resource to Adams. If he wears out his welcome after 2-3 years and decides to move on, then so be it. Adams will have had him at the time he needs him the most.

Not entirely addressing you specifically, sorry. Just the whole back and forth with some saying we should be following medical/scientific guidelines more stringently, and others saying that we don’t REALLY know FOR SURE, that would help at all. Come on people, I don’t REALLY know FOR SURE that I’m going to wake up tomorrow morning, but I’m pretty sure of it, and I probably should plan accordingly.

Fair enough, but.......... There is also a Thread called What to do with the 8th Pick? Lol
-
Why is the 20-21 Lineup Thread in the Sabres Picking 8th Thread???
-
Maybe it was magic. We can’t be sure. This is getting a bit silly, I think. Although almost nothing about this virus has been truly scientifically proven, there are a lot of things that we can be pretty sure of. It’s perfectly reasonable that we act upon those things that we are pretty sure of. What else are we supposed to do? Wait a couple years until a sufficient number of studies are completed and scrutinized, then take action?

Stupid Published trade Rumors/Proposals Involving the Sabres
Curt replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Sure, not what you want for a 2C, but he is a center and consistently plays center. I was just responding to Kerfoot being called a LW, which I don’t think he is. -
Personally, for me it would probably be a decision between Raymond and Lundell, and maybe a couple others before Holtz. There would still be good prospects available for sure, but not on the level of Rossi.
-
Maybe, but I wouldn’t think that NJ would be making that hard distinction regarding C’s. Honestly, I think Hughes long term future may be at W anyway, but I don’t know how NJ management feels about that. I hope you are right though! I know who I would fill in that (Buffalo?) with!
-
Those are possible reasons that Rossi may go there, but just because he plays in Ottawa or on a team with some NJ prospects doesn’t necessarily mean that those GMs like him above other prospects. The top 4 picks are the only ones that seem kind of set right now.

A 4 Year Extension of the Current CBA will possibly go up for vote this week
Curt replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t necessarily think that the bolded is a safe assumption. What if they play the whole season with no fans in attendance? What if they end up needing to go with a shortened season next season as well? This season they got 60-65 games of normal revenue. That almost certainly won’t be the case next season. -
I think this thread is a bunch of nothing, because it’s impossible to say trade it or don’t trade it without knowing the specific trade. It’s a pointless exercise. Everyone’s answer to this question is that they would trade it “in the right deal”. Personally, I lean towards Don’t Trade It, but there are a lot of scenarios where I would trade it.

Just listened to Friedman’s post lottery podcast. Sam Cosentino was on to talk about the prospects and where they might go. 1) Lafreniere - whoever ends up there 2) LA- Stutzle - he seemed pretty sure that this would happen 3) Ott- Byfield 4) Det- Perfetti - he was very confident that Detroit would take Perfetti 5) Ott- he wasn’t really sure, but speculated that it might be a D He didn’t have any real info on anything after that, just guesses really, but projected Ana-Sanderson, NJ-Rossi, Buff-Raymond. I remain hopeful that Rossi isn’t closely linked to any team ahead of Buffalo.

Right, and because of his skill set and the game he plays, I’m concerned that he won’t score all that much, and also doesn’t bring much else to the table. If he was able to get himself into high danger areas more often, I might feel differently, but he often seems content to shoot it from low danger areas. I’m concerned that he doesn’t create, or get himself in position for, scoring chances. Even with a great shot, I don’t think shooting it from distance as a go to move is a recipe for success in the NHL.
-
Nah, Ovechkin is built like a bull, plays like a bull, goes hard to the net, in addition to his elite shot.
-
Haha, I didn’t read the article, just the excerpt provided. Obviously. I just don’t like Holtz that much. He can shoot, but doesn’t go to the dangerous areas of the ice, isn’t a playmaker, isn’t a big help defensively, isn’t a standout skater, isn’t above average size. I don’t think anything about him is all that good apart from his shot.
-
That’s not a great look for Holtz honestly. So he will be NHL ready as a PP specialist in 2026? Holtz has a great shot, but he shoots from bad places like E Kane used to and he doesn’t have any other stand out skill. I could see him turning into PP specialist similar to Olofsson, but I want more.

Tampa already has something like 13 players better than someone like Tage/Mitts. They can only lose one player.
-
Because, Cirelli has to agree to sign the offer sheet with Buffalo in that scenario. Whereas with a trade, Cirelli doesn’t get to choose.
-
Yeah, I remember how boring it was when Buffalo drafted Cozens last offseason. Big time yawn. Just kidding! I was pumped! I find the drafting of players to be very interesting. I think the Buffalo Sabres have just broken all hope within you.
-
There will be enough money to add another pretty good forward and also to sign Dahlin. Even if Reinhart and Cirelli each got $7M I think.
-
I’m not completely opposed to drafting a D (Drysdale/Sanderson) at 8, but only if there are other major moves made to improve the outlook at the F position.
-
Here is my layout of how the draft will probably unfold in front of Buffalo. 1-4: Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle, Drysdale They may not go in this order, but these are the 4 guys who it seems are locks to be top 7 picks. 5-7: It’s going to really matter for Buffalo what happens in these other 3 top 7 picks. There is a lot of variation that could happen here. I think the most likely 3 are Rossi, Raymond, and Perfetti. However, I think Sanderson and Holtz, and less likely but maybe even Askarov, Lundell, and Quinn could go in this range too. I just hope that somehow, Rossi falls to 8. Come on NHL GMs! He’s ONLY 5’9”! If Rossi is gone, I would want one of Perfetti, Raymond, Sanderson, Lundell, Jarvis, Quinn. I haven’t decided yet. I would definitely NOT want to draft Holtz or Askarov.
