  1. Should be pointed out the advanced stats suggest Anderson was our best goaltender last year. So, people saying Levi is strictly plug and play improvement aren’t exactly accurate. If he improves his performance a bit from what we saw to end the year (I assume he will) he can match the 26 game output that Craig Anderson gave us. If we can get him to 40, that should be 14 more games of at least Anderson like output over last season. There’s a chance Levi is even better, but I’m not sure adding 14 more Anderson games last year would have been enough. I’m bullish on Levi, a guy who has never played more than 41 games in a season, once, to play maybe around 41 NHL games this season, and a good level, perhaps surpassing Anderson. That’s a high expectation in and of itself. He could really, really use a helpful vet backup. More so, I think it’s likely the team and it’s record benefits from it. Again, maybe that’s UPL. It’s just a little bit more expectation saddled onto a player who hasn’t yet proven what you are betting on happening. Degree of difficulty is manually increased the more best case scenarios you are counting on congruently
  2. Makes sense. I’ll add that UPL and Comrie COULD be that support system, just seems an awfully risky play from this vantage point
  3. Not all all. “Fine with Levi/UPL” “not fine with Levi/UPL” is officially this summer’s “Team Jacob/Team Edward” on Sabres twitter and elsewhere
  4. What’s the goal of the thread? To prove it can’t be done? Actually asking. Maybe, to be convinced of options because you aren’t seeing any? I believe this to be your subtext, correct me if I’m wrong
  5. Is your opinion that if a fan, without KAs vast array of contacts, can’t provide the perfect name that none were available? Do you yourself believe there are simply no good options available? If that’s the case, does it not stand to follow that, if the goaltending output is again sub par, we can’t blame Adams because there weren’t reasonable options available anyways?
  6. Capable? Yes My number one thing for the wish list however is adding a guy who is much more likely capable of producing the desired output at backup
  7. But the Venn diagram of goalies better than UPL and Comrie is.. considerable Suppose that’s the other thread
  8. He might not make the most sense, but he certainly makes more sense than doing nothing at the position and hoping for the best
  9. This just isn’t accurate. The President’s Trophy winners iced the vezina winning goalie and *still* heavily relied on Swayman. Rookie Devon Levi doesn’t make the second goalie issue for the Buffalo Sabres moot. Not even close
  10. Not at all. The comparison is a poor one. Timing different, asset pool different, NHL need different. Murray’s reputation far exceeds what he ever actually did here, too. One GM made 2 win-now trades and now “trades bad”
  11. Please just do something worthwhile. It would seem to be close to neglect to do nothing there when so much of the rest of the roster looks ready
  12. Thank you. Goalie is the only position people continually talk about improving by improving other positions. No one talks about the other positions this way. It’s actually ok to roster a good player or 2. You don’t merely need to be content with bumping up poor goaltending into mediocre through additions elsewhere. You actually can look to supply good goaltending outright A broken record. The time frame is 4 seasons, there’s simply no room for excuses anymore
  13. What about in net? Chad at least seems to be saying they are/will be (maybe just hoping) they are still after one
  14. Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mittelstadt - Cozens - Peterka Olofsson - Krebs - Greenway Girgensons - Jost - Okposo (Rousek) Samuelsson - Dahlin Power - Clifton Stillman - Johnson (Lyubushkin, Jokiharju, Bryson) Levi (UPL, Comrie) That’s what we are looking at right now. Could just see the removal of 1 or 2 of the bolded D men, and 1 of the bolded goalies, and a run back with a modestly improved D unit
  15. Ya if that’s what results it’s a status quo offseason with a couple moneypuck D adds. Not exactly unexpected, but nonetheless would be disappointing I think Kevyn has made all his plan B moves. I could see him being ready to roll with this crew of if no deal strikes the value he wants
  16. Could be a run back at F, and in net, with a couple modest additions on D Or, could see a revamped G position, a couple modest additions on D, and maybe even a F add or two through a big swap. So, more of a sweeping change. we shall see
  17. We can certainly afford one and we certainly need one
  18. “We got him? We got Dustin Tokarski?!”
  19. Yes, I got a kick out of our top 2 D draft picks and top 2 D roster additions being right shots Thanks for asking
  20. I really like this signing if we add a good goalie. Improve the goaltending a little bit with these reasonable additions to the D, nothing splashy, and improve the D a little bit through a goalie addition. It’s the one more move I need to see before the rest is arguably gravy
  21. I think we’re about to see a trade for a G
  22. Yes I know housekeeping or whatever but I’m so tired of these seemingly endless groundhog day goalie signings for Buffalo I just want to finally see that good addition
  23. We’ve moneypucked the D, which shouldn’t really be unexpected Hopefully this allows us to use assets to shore up in net I think it’s Stillman, Johnson, Bryson, Jokiharju, Lyubushkin for spots 5-7. Stillman and Johnson with the inside track I believe
  24. Ya, so our top 4 is looking pretty set
