It’s not like there haven’t been any trades. The sabres have been comfortable being an anomaly in the standings for 13 years, we can’t be the outlier on the trade front? Why not? And again, there WERE trades Ullmark moved for a first etc. You make a good point: if you look at the macro there have been many opportunities - but anyone can select a given 2 weeks period and compare against ONLY the move in that frame and moves look scarce

Ya I mean overpaid is doable. Additions will necessarily have flaws, but that’s ok: to win you configure a team that maximizes the strengths you have and minimizes the weaknesses you *have*. You can’t build a team with perfect aptitude

75% of the league doesn’t have a NMC so I don’t think it’s just bottom tier players w/o protection. Sure the top 25% does but that math doesn’t check out as an excuse when we only need to be in the top 50% to achieve success the bar is low - this needs to be compared and contrasted with the “obstacles”

His consolidated ranking was 11. He’s about in the range. Certainly not a steal. You will always be able to pick out a few scouts for anyone in this range that has the guy ranked higher It’s a 14th overall pick - it’s going to be a great prospect. everyone got one

I doubt we trade the first. I feel like we COULDN’T / WOULDN’T trade the one we had, but there’s probably a more modest deal that may require a second, so we pick up an extra one for a small sacrifice and use that second in a trade

It’s fine to do this, you just have a choice between the lesser of two evils, missing the playoffs or dealing with a potential rental, and deem missing the playoffs to be preferable

It MIGHT not mean anything but it’s not a great sign imo I mean, we also have the context of Adams saying, “golly gee I was working on stuff and it fell through”, AND past precedent the move doesn’t necessarily mean anything negative but it makes sense to be skeptical now
