  1. NS you are kind, but please no slack, my schedule only allows a few months a year to enjoy this type of communication for a sport we are all passionate  about.  I may old in years and young with computers,  but  I neither ask nor expect  quarter for posting my views, a passionate truthful answer is always the greatest response. If you can fill it with sarcasm, a few digs, and a little comedy and I will bow to your greatness!!

d4rksabre...I totally agree, it's all Ennis, he has earned everything this year almost on his own on the worst team in the league. I just think it's more than a coincidence that Nolan is coach when he finds his breakout season.

  2. It's been called a "system", but I think it's more a mentality, defense first.

    or

It's simply, five men up the ice on the rush, five men back down the ice in their respective lanes.

Either scenario is not good for skating playmakers, the Ennis type.  Probably why Ruff has/had the tag of offensive talent killer. The players he was given dictated the system.  Rolstan (even worse than remembering names is my spelling) in my opinion was even more system first type of coach, the players hated it and gave up.

What is most surprising to me is that Hodson has not shown something, anything, of what got him to the NHL. It's obvious why he is a healthy scratch, the coach just wants you to skate and make plays, do what you do and do it good. And he ain't done squat...

  3. Ennis has really broken out this year. I've mentioned it before but it seems to have clicked for him what style of play he needs to use to succeed. He just bounces around out there like a bouncy ball.

I don't think Ennis ever forgot what he did to get to the NHL, I think it's more the previous coaching staffs tried to adjust him to a "system". Their systems made players like Ennis "think" to much, be in certain spots on the ice, defense first type mentality. Which keeps below average teams in games and a better change at winning, which is what a coach is paid to do, give their team the best chance to win. Nolan doesn't have that restraint, he's not expected to win, so he just lets players play.  Perfect for players and GM's especially this time of year, you want a chance to be traded to a playoff team, just play your game the best you can and see what happens.

  4. Careful there.  If they end up eligible for the lottery your malice may come back to bite you in them receiving the number 1 pick.  Rather they make last seed and lose in the first round.

Indeed. Ideally April 1st cements the Laffs in the playoffs AND Buffalo in last place.

Sorry, emotions got the best of me, you both are totally right. Spock type logic right and it's impossible to refute with anything other than an emotional response. I don't hate the Leafs as a team so much as I hate the fans that will invade April 1st. And you are both right, a win could doom the Leafs to another decade of mediocrity, hanging on to that eighth seed and the draft pick that comes with it.

  5. During the Dallas game they high-lighted Weber's play again, showing multiple replays of him, are the Sabres shopping him? If he is playing his best hockey right now then the timing is perfect, personally I like him, but see him as 7th or 8th defensemen starting next year. A bubble team like Dallas could sure use him, he would be in a top four pairing there, how much does Murray ask for back?

  6. Last night looks like games from December...facing a back up goalie with a .8? save percentage....corsi number at end of game negative twenty something for the Sabres... Sabres goalie could easily be first star of the game for each loss (nhl win).... Benoit and/or Mess are healthy scratches.

One note that I took from the game, they highlighted Weber's play for at least the second game, nobody has talked a Weber trade, are they shopping him?

  7. No Taylor Hall or Benoit Pouliot for the #oilers in Toronto tonight.

I have a feeling we're going to be looking at just a two-point edge at the end of the night. Facing stalwart Anders Lindback. Oilers facing the unbearable Laughs. Not feeling great here.

Just piling on the bad news, someone give us a positive!!

  8. The Sabres are going to face a gauntlet over the next two nights, as both their opponents are also playing back to back games. It's possible the Sabres will face CHL Stalwart Backup Goaltenders for both games. Andres Lindback who is 7-2 with a dominating .875 Save Percentage and 3.79 GAA could face the Sabres Tonight. Then Garth's Goobers could have Chad Johnson who is 6-6 with an equally dominating .865 Save Percentage and 3.43 GAA.

Toronto needs to continue their winning ways or there could be a tie atop the CHL Standings come Monday Morning

Wow, go 15-1 over the last month, and still, one weekend off and it could be the Sabres are ousted from the CHL's #1 slot.  Tough, very tough league!! The worst is Mess and Benoit are out, making a CHL win more elusive.

  9. The Blues are only 11 points out of eighth place. Sabres could still end up with three balls in the lottery!

    Yuri,

I demand that you unhack PA's account immediately, if not sooner.

    Oh yeah,

    GO SABRES!!

I'm missing something, It usually takes me a while to decipher Yuri's sayings, I thought I understood this one, and it was a positive thing. But then NS had this and I'm once again needing a translation....

  10. He made some reckless plays early in that game. Right in front of his own bench to boot.

Or maybe Meszaros is a low return trade showcase. He'd probably be a good depth defenseman on a playoff team.

I'm alright with those scenarios.  I was assuming that it was being implied that inserting Meszaros was trying to improve the chances of a CHL win, which I will say is much better with Meszaros, but I was hoping that wasn't the teams reason behind the move. I still have some fan dignity, and I need to deal with that during the Tank.

  11. I wasn't questioning the realities of the tank, logically it's the path with the greatest chance of success, my wavering was whether I could keep faithfully watching such a down and out team. They are wearing down my good karma, then, Connor spoke to me while driving.....

  12. Connor McDavid just did a live interview this morning, if any one can find the audio and post it it's a great interview.

Rocket 101 Erie, PA 9:00 am

If you can't, he is a great young man. When asked about playing in Buffalo earlier this year with the Erie Otters and the Sabres fan base hoping the Sabres are able to draft him..

"....that be cool !, I grew up a Bills fan, the Pegula's are great owners, they treat their players great, they really got something going with the Harbor Center, and the hockey facility is great...."

I listened to the whole interview, this was not scripted, this was just an 18 year old letting everyone know how he felt.

The recent win against the Hab's had me wavering on the Tank, but his 10 minute interview hardened my resolve, I really like this young man.

  13. Leaf fan makes a good parody and I gotta say I feel his pain.

Sorry, even if you strip a leaf fan naked and drag him behind a snowmobile around the great white north, still, NFG. Their Leafs fans.

My Dream, April 1st 2015, Sabres will win to mathematically eliminating the Blow Leafs Blow from the playoffs. Thus relegating them to hockey purgatory of picking a draft pick that should keep them average.

  14. The good part of the Islanders tank is I can openly root for the Islanders to loose and loose big.  The part that is foreign to me is rooting for teams I hate way more than the Islanders...Filthadephia....Boston...and the worst..Shitzburg.  Put I will try and catch those games and hope The Isles loose.
