  1. In a sport that is made up of almost all white players..

With a fan following of almost all white fans...

Something had to have been said or done that was racially motivated.  He had a long career, a great attitude. I would suspect that the only time we may hear of anything from Mike personally is if he thinks it will help others. My take on a good person...

I can only hope no one has a story...

  2. I think Reinhart starts the year in Rochester because he'll be eligible to and because Nolan would probably prefer to avoid breaking in 2 green centers into top 6 NHL duty at the same time. Grigorenko takes the 3rd center spot because he's no longer waiver exempt and he seems to be a much more natural fit at the center position than on the wing. McEichel gets put between two guys with talent, speed, and the toughness to protect him and produce offensively. I think they re-sign Kaleta and McCabe stays in Rochester another season (at least to start the year).

    .

I would love to see a McEichel vs. Reinhart 'who stays with the big boy team' start to next season, that would bring a great element to the first 9-10 games. Just imagine, taking about who gives us the best chance to win, not you gives us the best chance to tank... I may have to see a doctor in October, my erection  may last longer than 4 hours!! :w00t:

  3. I don't understand that.  He's 6'3" 219lbs and he digs in corners and doesn't get pushed off the puck.

Fair enough. I should have broadened my "heavy" to include with attitude,  fire, or passion,  which this team has been so lacking. We've had Darcy heavy, I'm going on GMTM heavy, heavy with attitude.  Do you see Griggs with that?  If he has that he will be a fan favorite,  A Foligno with skill?

  4. I'm far from there yet -- but IIRC he needs to clear waivers to be sent down next year, which ain't gonna happen, so I expect him to be with the Sabres next year -- and for it to be pretty close to a make-or-break year for him with GMTM.

If he plays well, better than expected even, does GMTM trade him?

Griggs doesn't seem to fit GMTM profile of a heavy player team he is building.

    And, would you be upset?

  5. In terms of fanhood sins, being a team swapping w.h.o.r.e is far worse than openly rooting for a tank IMO.

    Edit: damn gefilter

Yesterday was one the more historic days in Sabres history in, what, 19 years?  Hell, I look forward to Sunday's game just to see our latest additions, it's been at least a year since I was this exited about a Sabres game. I don't understand the logic of not wanting to watch.

  6. I think Ennis might get traded but I understand what you are saying.  Just remember that our defense has so much grit now they might be able to assist if liberties are taken.  Zadorov, Bogosian, Gorges, Risto, Weber... those guys all seem to be willing to jump into a scrum.

I'll take your thought one step further, this team will be made up of enough type A personalities that if a liberty is taken with a team mate,  there will be at least  3 guys on the ice during any given shift that will start a scrum.

  7. STAFFORD FIRST.

    Are you ready now?

D4rksabre, you like messing with old guys! I finally find Hodson must go under Dirty crusty handkerchief must go. Then as I'm flippin through all of a sudden it's called Cranky Hangnail needs to go.

  8. You mean like when Regier brought in Moulson and then Murray brought him back?

Yes! tank fodder, and tradable when ready again. Good with helping young ones (Tavares/Reinhart/McEichel). Great trade, got a pick and he's back. Same with Enroth? Good move by Darcy with getting Islanders 2015 first, made great by GMTM.

  9. What the heck is Murray doing? Maybe he has a master plan, but I don't understand it.

If you add up all the 1st and 2nd round players and picks he has discarded via trade over his tenure it is staggering. Myers (1st), Stafford (1st), Armia (1st), 2015 1st round pick, Lemieux (top pick in 2nd),  2-2nd round picks to LA,  Enroth (2nd).

Just on these three deals he has traded (4) 1st round picks and (4) 2nd round picks!

He is really spending like crazy and I don't believe he is receiving fair value. Murray has a lot to prove and he is scaring the crap out of me.

All but Lemieux where the products of the Darth Sidious Regier regime. The purge must be done in order to move on. In GMTM you must trust!

  10. ...and it sounds like Enroth is half-way out the door already.   Once he's gone, this team might not lose another game the rest of the season.    Put a bow on The Shart.

Remember, this is Buffalo sports, never ever count out the most improbable of scenarios. When I here the words "and with the first overall pick the Buffalo Sabres..." , I will put a bow on it. Till then, I'm nervous..

  11. For a fan base that has been forced to watch ###### for the past two years, there's a lot of crying going on.

Our pipeline is still among the best in the league. We still are leading the race to McEichel.

We used our wealth of picks to get real NHL players, ones that are still young.

GMTM showed he's got balls. The fans need some too.

Ding Ding Ding We got a winner...Name one Darcy trade that evoked this much emotion, we could possible argue GM career threatening or sent to god like status for making this trade.

  12. I guess it's appropriate that he brought Alamo mode to Texas.

I really think these past two seasons have completely warped some memories around here.

How true! But each must deal with the trauma of the last few years in their own way. We have been watching the worst hockey any fan should endure, any previous memory of Sabres hockey, in general, has to be better than what we are currently made to digest.

  13. The exchange between Woods-Racer and Qwk is priceless.

I was only funnin' ya' all by bringing up that whole nonsensical Ruff System stuff.  I think that whole thing is archived for posterity.

And as for The Clash ... my feelings on the only band that ever mattered is well documented ...

*you better leave town if you only want to knock us*

AAAHH!  I see now, the Halifax Instigator, I like your style :flirt:

  14. :w00t:

    You're a good sport.

Just recalling a thread for the ages.  I don't remember it the same way 11 does, although I don't think he was serious in his comment up-thread.

And, according to nFreeman, chicks dig scares.  So, that scar of yours might work out just fine.

Sarcasm, a few digs and a little comedy, if I can't use them on myself what fun would life be!

nFreeman is 100% right, chicks dig scares especially with cool stories! But for some reason right after I start showing my scares and telling stories to a chick... my wife always tells me I've had enough to drink and it's time to go home, go figure?

Man if Edmonton wasn't the worlds largest dumpster fire we would be running away with 1st place.  The moral of the story is you need to draft 2 way players and defenders, yup yup yup.

Scars are just Tatoo's with cooler stories

  15. Anybody else catch the Erik Cole (?) interview on NHL network during post game of Stars-Boston game? Said the players are having fun, playing in a great system. Good for Lindy, hope he is having fun. But dam you, why Dallas, I just can't bring myself around for cheering Dallas anything.

  16.

Robyn Regehr played his two worst statistical seasons while in Buffalo. http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8467344. My point is good players will have crappy stats when they play on a crappy team.

Do you remember when Luke Adam centered Vanek and Pominville for a 10-12 game stretch? He put up crazy numbers. And when that cooled off, he dropped to lower lines, until he ended up back in the AHL, and then out of town. An average player (or even below average player) may look good with talent surrounding him. But I cannot think of many instances when a good player looks good when there's no talent surrounding him. It is difficult to perform well on a team that lacks talent.

I think Cody's bigger issue is that he is being forced to play a system that does not fit his style. When last season ended, Cody played in the World Championships as a winger and was an absolute stud. Fast forward to Buffalo this year. He's been on a 3rd or 4th line, expecting Flynn, Kaleta, Mitchell, or Deslauriers-type players to support him. Geez -- I wonder why he looks lost out there.

I am frustrated that he works out with Gary Roberts to get big and strong, yet he never finishes a check. But that's his game. Just as it was for Ales Kotalik, and many, many other players in the league.

I'm frustrated the Matt Ellis an Brian Flynn are still in Buffalo, and look better than Cody. They should all be riding the AHL bus next year if the Sabres expect to finish in anything other than 30th.
