  1. In a pre tournament tune up, Canada beat Austria 5-2. Cozens and Power get a goal.

Cozens had success at this tournament a couple of years ago  preceding his breakout year. Maybe he gets his mojo back.

  2. I think UPL has earned the starter’s job.

Levi should not be guaranteed the backup job but KA probably doesn’t get a “blocker”.

If UPL struggles then Levi could challenge for more starts. There is nothing wrong with a 1A 1B scenario, I think competition pushes both to be better.

You're right about the media but it's not just hockey. There's a general media focus on Toronto for everything in Canada. Doesn't help that the CBC is located there.

and the rest of the country subsequently has some degree of dislike (or even hatred of Toronto) because of that.

I’ve had two BC people say you’re from Onterrible to me lately. I had never heard that term, probably because I live here. Both had only been to Toronto and had never seen the rest of the province.

Ehlers has a 10 Team M-NTC, the Kings need a retool as well.

Could the most famous Sabre Player in History convince another Victoriaville Native to waive His 10 Team M-NTC to come to Buffalo

3 seasons of Phillip Danault at 5.5 million AAV as the the third line center would be perfect

He is the type that fits 3C perfectly. He could win a few draws for Lindy.

LAK may want to move Byfield to C and they have Dubois signed long term so he may be available.

And honestly I’ve never heard of that dude.

Just the first small, high scoring junior player from yesteryear that popped into my head.

He lit up the OHL in the early 90’s and didn’t go anywhere.

MacKinnon should not be a comparable, he’s bigger. LOL.

I don’t even realise they’d did that. Was just figuring out how to keep score when I run out of fingers and toes 😀

Does GB have some ex pats from Canada, USA or Scandinavia?

I’m the fat guy in the blue and white football shirt.

Cool, you have to be careful not to get punched or kicked if you venture onto the “dance floor”.

They have parachuted guys in after 2nd round loses in the past.

I’ll not bore everyone with the GB roster, lol. We’re plucky!

    Canadia announced today:

They often keep a roster spot open in case some big name is eliminated and wants to go.

A real rivalry requires hate going both ways.  Maybe it’s the Norris thing, or maybe it’s because we’re just that poor city over the border, but there has never been any real emotion coming back from Toronto.  Buffalo is just another team in the league to them.  It’s hard to have a rivalry when the other side is like, “who”?

Gotta kick their butts in the playoffs for the next few years to get their attention.

Sabres have to get there first, though.

Starts next week in Czechia. Who have you got winning? GB first game is against Canada. I presume we will have at least a touchdown against! Hopefully see a good performances from Sabres over the course of the tourney.

It is tough to say who will have a strong team as rosters have not been announced.

All of the prominent non playoff players get asked but most do not go due to nagging injuries, length of season or other commitments. Hedman is a pleasant surprise for Sweden.

Canada usually has a team of young guys wanting to keep their season going, see Europe and impress Hockey Canada and a mix of journeymen players. They are lucky if they can get one or two guys good enough to make the Olympic team.

Bedard is slated to go, so that will be interesting. One rumour has Crosby going as Dubas is co-GM and trying hard to recruit him.

I will be there with my son for some early games and to visit Prague. I hear the beer is good.

Is he here? I could be wrong, but I think if you go back to Russia you still have to do it. This was part of what was involved with the Flyers and Fedotov. He didn't want to go to the Ukraine but there were some weird negotiations there as well.

Still here but is going back next week because of his visa. He has until the end of the year on his tourist visa so he’s hoping to return for work or school. He’s still trying to get anything.

The media here severely oversaturates the market with Canadian team content under the guise that folks support these teams for no other reason than their geographical location. It’s hard to explain if you are a buffalo citizen (if you are) because you aren’t exposed to that narrative. Imagine being bombarded with Rangers content because they are representing your great nation’s cup pursuit.

I feel like you wouldn’t give a shite and ultimately come to resent the narrative

In Ontario, the Leafs get almost all of the oxygen. The other Canadian teams combine for a small percentage of the coverage.

There are people who look at me funny when I say I’m pulling for the Avs when there are Canadian teams left.

They have mandatory military service over there. Did he skip that by coming over?

Probably. I think they can be exempted for hockey or studying.

My son has a Russian friend who is 22 and hasn’t done his military stint. He has played junior hockey and taken college courses. I am not sure if it is required once his studies are done. He is trying to get a work visa to remain here.
