So the FO should keep Kane, Lehner, or anyone else they would trade for future considerations?
Kane is as good as gone, the package for him may include futures and a first.
Lehner may be gone, I suspect he doesn't fit JBot's plans for a 1G. He may return a second or a first if bundled with a sweetener.
If they play their cards right, we could have 4-5 picks in the first two rounds of a good draft.

Odds that Borgen does not go the UFA route and signs with the Sabres? Hope I'm wrong but I'm around 17%
He's playing in the Olympics so he may turn pro after that. I guess his school is doing well so he would probably rejoin them for a run at the Frozen Four.
JBot loves his college guys so let's see what sales pitch he can deliver.

We will be in the lottery regardless of our "winning streak(s)". Let's give our present young guys some confidence and our coaches some reinforcement that they are heading in the right direction.
Don't forget that we should get more picks, maybe a first or two, for our UFAs. This is a deep draft, we will get some good players.

I do agree that Boqvist is still preferred to Dobson/Bouchard but I am a little confused by Boqvist at the moment. He was sooooooo good at the Ivan Hlinka, then started off great for the Brynas J20 team. earning a call up for the SHL. Didn't do a lot there, 1 assist in 7 or 8 games. Was then loaned to Altuna of the 2nd division and still couldn't earn ice time. Recalled back to Brynas last week but barely plays. Yesterday he played a grand total of 2 mins.
He seems kinda stuck. Too good for juniors but not good enough for the men's team. Just makes me wonder about him a little. I'm hoping he plays for Sweden at the u18s.
He also did not make their U-20 team.
I've never seen the kid play so I'm blind on this one. I have seen all of the other top guys play.
The scouts will have to be firm to pick him, he could slide.

Strong draft class, many great players.
Vanek is a definite no.
I see only Getzlaf, Bergeron and Burns as having a chance.

This gives me hope
Good video, I like Taylor. Their idea of development is different than what I expected.
Baptiste being groomed for a bottom 6 role and PK.
Even though they could score more in the AHL, there is a plan to get them playing the right way and fill a slot in Buffalo.

Another strong shift for Sam.
-
Antipin showing what he can do. Sam with the nice finish in his hometown.
Kane seems to care more tonight.
-
Zadina lit it up at the CHL prospects game solidifying his status as a high pick.
-
I wanna see an Oilers jersey tossed onto the ice.
-
Antipin with a good stick on McJesus.
-
How da fook was he a candidate for GM of the year last season???
He drafted McDavid.
-
Oilers in tank mode, they could use another lottery win.
-
Draisaitl invisible tonight, they jumped the gun on that big contract. He is big but slow.
I'm thinking the Reinhart bridge deal will provide tons of value compared to Draisaitl's huge payday.
Jack and Sam will have a beer tonight smiling about spanking their draft peers.
-
I liked watching Antipin as well, mistakes and all. I thought he would be a good fit in Housley's system and contribute offensively.
I hope he has a good game, forcing their hand at keeping him in the lineup.
-
This is an important game for the Oilers as they have 3 wins in a row and need many more to have a sniff at the playoffs.
The Sabres need to embrace the spoiler role and rebuild their reputation one win at a time.
Go Sabres!

They worked hard and beat a good team.
Jack wanted this badly and Risto was solid with the added ice time.
Sam was knocked around but had some good moments.
Johnson was solid.
Nelson looked liked an AHLer, Baptiste like a 4th line NHLer.
Larry has no speed and no hands. Gus is a 4th liner.
-
Definitely wishful thinking. I can't remember who is the parent club of his AHL team (either Anaheim or the Kings I think) but I doubt he's doing well enough that they'd gamble on taking his contract.
He is with the Ontario Reign, the Kings' farm team. 26 points in 20 games, third in team scoring.

I'd retain the max 50% on Moulson. Whatever it takes without extending his cap hit beyond next season.
Moulson's burning up the AHL in California, they may want him for playoff depth. Wishful thinking.

SJ would have to sweeten the pot in that trade. I am not trading Reinhart for Lebanc. ROR and Couture are in the same league so they wash for me.
Couture for ROR sounds good to me, he would look good on Jack's left side. Wasn't he a Sabres fan growing up? ROR could be the third bearded Musketeer.
I wouldn't give Reinhart for Labanc either. I still believe in Sam getting back to last season's numbers.

Not a fan of Kraken but there it is more likely to find a Kraken in Seattle than a Raptor in Toronto.
It may grow on me of that ends up as the choice.
Hail Hydra.

Your username right now accurately and onomatopoetically describes this team. If someone came up to me and said, "make a noise to describe the Sabres this year" it'd be between a long sad fart and "skoggslopp".
Sounds like you would need to change your underwear after that one.

I just did some research regarding schedules for NCAA hockey, the Amerks and the Sabres. Minnesota's schedule end 3/17 at the latest with the Big 10 Tourney finals. If they make the NCAA tourney, the Regionals end 3/25 and the Frozen Four ends on 4/7. The Gophers sit 5th in the Big 10 (of our 7 teams). Unless they win the Big 10 Tourney, they probably aren't going to the NCAA Tournament.
The Amerks have 12 games remaining after 3/17 (including 3 games after the Sabres seasons end 4/11-4/14). If the can get Casey signed and playing, he'll have a time to get great pro experience and then playoff experience playing for the Amerks. The Sabres also have 11 games on their schedule after 3/17. FYI there are no AHL clear day rosters anyone for the playoffs. As long as Casey is on the Amerks roster to end the regular season he can play in the AHL playoffs.
If I'm Jbot, I get him here asap. I give a few games in the NHL as an incentive to sign and then send him to Roch for 8-10 games plus the playoffs.
This should give both Jbot and Casey a clear idea which is the best place for him to play next season. If he plays very well in the tryout, then the Sabres could very well be his destination to start next season.
This sounds like a good plan if Casey is in agreement. I think he enjoyed Buffalo during the WJHC and like most top prospects, can't wait to get paid to play hockey. He isn't a 4 year college guy.
However, he has strong ties to Minnesota and could stay another year if JBot agrees. Casey played High School hockey last year out of loyalty to his friends and coaches.
I think he turns pro this spring.

I saw Cornel quite a bit in the OHL. He didn't dominate there at all. In his last season he was the go to guy for the Petes and put up some decent numbers but he did not impress me in any games. He was a top six player but not a star at that level.

Tavares may bolt over that issue.
