Leg wand was a #2 overall pick. 2 breakaways missed.
-
Strong play ROR.

All of that space and Weber hits shin pads.

Double shifting Eichel?

Poor shift by Gionta.

I like Ullmark, so far, and was hoping he could see some NHL action. Unless he is lights out, Lehner will be given the opportunity to be the #1 guy. As TBJ stated, he doesn't need to clear waivers so he's the easiest to send down. A solid, extended showing would make Johnson expendable, muddying the waters. The Dominator played parts of 2 seasons in the minors, for the Hawks organization. He was behind Belfour, who had won the Calder and Vezina trophies.

He's probably loving the role he's been given here, compared to being behind Duchene, Stastny, and MacKinnon. He can contribute a bit more offense and provide leadership than he would have with the Avs. The money and term are good too, but he seems the type to want to earn it every year, not just when he is a pending UFA. That's the culture you want to instill in the young guys.

Big Jack, with AC/DC song of the same name as an entrance song.
-
He and Kassian may be out of the league soon.
-
Our 2 NCAA goalies both win.
Cal Peterson (Notre Dame) and Jason Kasdorf (RPI).

I think Johnson goes against his former team.
Going forward I see a split until Ullmark takes the lead and gets 2/3 of the starts.

We have a 50 page thread on the Kane trade, it's time to recognize how good this trade looks.
Zadorov will probably be the best player on their side. He may end up as a #2 or 3 D, if he gets his s:($& together.
Grigo is getting 6-9 minutes a night and will always be behind Duchene and MacKinnon. He may be in the KHL in 2 years.
Compher, I haven't kept track of, but he may become a bottom 6 guy.
Draft pick is an unknown at this point.
ROR is worth this plus we got McGinn.
ROR rubbed them the wrong way with his contract issues.
He's a more complete player than anyone they have left. Our gain.

Frederik Andersen from Anaheim is the goalie rumoured to be available.

I've watched Chychrun play a few times. He doesn't stand out like Ekblad did in his draft year. Plays a solid all round game, didn't notice any weaknesses. Watched him closely the last time I saw him live. Nothing he did jumped out at me but he was good. Seemed more like a Lidstrom style d-man, quiet and effective. However, he is not near that skill level yet. I could see him falling to 4-5 as Seth Jones did. Would be a great pick there.
My point is that Matthews would be my choice, hands down.

At least both teams played last night. I don't know the stats but the results of fresh vs 2nd game in two nights probably favours the more rested squad. League schedule makers hopefully look at all teams' back to back schedules and balance it out.

Fleury has started all 9 of their games this season. Maybe we see the backup, Zatkoff??
-
Only caught the third but was amazed at O'Reilly's hard work. Even when they get the puck off of him he doubles the effort and gets it back.
-
D-man Anthony Florentino has 4 pts in 5 games with Providence Friars.
-
During the 2nd intermission on HNIC, Friedman talked about Ducks poor start and added they have been scouting the Sabres last 2 games.

Let's get a win. These guys are no Habs and Ullmark's debut will hopefully give us a boost.
Ennis needs to get going and Zemgus needs to be the Latvian Locomotive.
-
I think I'm the only one who picked Ullmark. Hopefully gets a start and makes the most of it.
-
I read that they had split up Getzlaf and Perry. Many people, myself included had them as the top team in the West. Lots of time to turn it around.

Tons of Habs fans where I live, nice to be able to tell them our third stringer broke their streak.
Canadian head coaches dominate an international league
in The Aud Club

It's an old boys club that is recycling guys all of the time. New guys come through the junior ranks and have old boy contacts.
My experience is that the journeymen tend to make better coaches and Canada is full of grinders. My first point is the main reason for Canadian coaches.
Richard, Howe, Hull, Orr, Lafleur, Perreault, Gretzky, Lemieux were great but could not explain and teach the fire in the belly and creativity required for greatness. They probably cannot understand why the average guy can't see the game like they did. The plumbers relied on tactics and can teach this.
