Montreal and their pundits are so in love with the Levi paradox where he'll be their savior. Sure, you can have Devon Levi, for your top 10 pick, three future firsts, and Nick Suzuki. Otherwise, stop posting your trash.
I think they're moving on from Girgensons, and that's upsetting but part of life. Rousek easily can replace him next season.

It's good to add more youth to a situation which is probably again our weakest strength. While we now have the stability at the top end on the defense core, we clearly need upgrades 4-7. Johnson could easily step in, if he shows anything that he could in the AHL next year. He will get a game in the NHL for sure.

Sorry, soccer in this country, is not a big thing. I love the Premier League, but MLS is not a big market here.

Getting all the Russian players to sign; really show the maturity and evolution of this front office group. 10 years ago, we wouldn't have even drafted one in round 7 outside of Glotov.

Congrats to Sam Reinhart, for making your first finals.

Looks like Eichel vs Reinhart; Stone vs Tkachuk.

At a one year deal, and a realistic salary for a would be 35 to 36 year old. I think it was a fine re-signing. At least it's only for 1 year.

Botterill can have that job and ruin them.

Well he wasn't, so let's move on. Let the Maple Leafs wallow in their post Dubas misery. Shanahan is the perfect jackass for that organization.

Is Hunter Sheperd the goalie that came to Sabres dev camp years ago. I remember the name.
Yes, he was in our development camp in 2020-21; I want to say.

I've read quite a few pens ppl discussing how they just need a retool and can compete for another cup. I don't see it, no prospect pool and they are old and getting older.
Old is saying something. They look completely shot. An injury to any of their top two lines like this season would be devastating. Washington can retool and go for another cup, because they have smartly insulated with players like Strome and a few others, where they have guys in their mid to late twenties to offset Backstrom, Carlson and Ovechkin. I just see too much uncertainty. They have no prospect depth, outside of a very select few. I just don't see it.

Lets get the pick and move on, this kid isn't signing with Buffalo. Moving on, good luck RyJo.

Favourite late-round pick, based on the one game I watched him play.
Him, Kisakov and Neuchev will be an interesting group to watch next year in Rochester as the Sabres continue to nurture their Russian connection.
Simashev at 13?
Totally fine with Simashev at 13; if Reinprecht is not there.

Toronto Maple Leafs news = slow sports news. Onto more important things to care about like mowing the lawn.

It's nice to see that we're signing guys that will improve our long term depth! Good going.

I will say that I'd rather see Sam win a cup than Jack. As petty as that is. lmao.

Pittsburgh needs to start aligning post life Sidney Crosby within their realistic time frame. I love the Malkin/Crosby/Letang loyalty, but surrounding them with other degenerating assets and continuing to funnel out fungible assets is a crock.

Final Four has almost zero interest for me with none of these teams being in a legit hockey town. I do not want Vegas because Eichel (the guy has been playing better in the playoffs than he ever did here). If I wanted one team to win, probably the Panthers. Like others, I wish we still had Montour. That would have likely vaulted us into the playoffs. I hope Adams sees that reality and can land a top 4 defender this off season.
After the Sabres - I root for the Original 6 (aside from Boston) in the cup chase or the Oilers (loved the Gretzky / Messier era there).
Growing up in Buffalo (even before the Sabres arrived) I loved Hockey Night in Canada on Wednesday and Saturday. Never hated the Leafs like some on here do (probably from interaction with Leaf fans). Always enjoyed the Leafs teams of Borje Salming, Daryl Sittler, & Lanny McDonald. Bruins were the team I hated as they beat up on us early (will never forget a 7-2, 80 shot on goal drubbing). Really hated all the Boston teams. Pats. Celtics because they always seemed to beat the Braves when it mattered. I was at a great game 4 win (McAdoo was incredible) and a game six loss on a bad foul call that allowed JoJo White to sink two FTs with no time on the clock (sat just behind the stansion at those games - snuck down to sit by the ball boys!). Crushing. (though they had some amazing players to watch in Cowens, Havlicek, White). Also hate the Flyers for obvious reasons (1975). I digress.
Quite Meh on this final four as I think most of Canada & the US will be.
Montour did almost nothing in Buffalo, and I found his attitude highly suspect. While the right handed shot is missing in our line-up; I still feel like he didn't play to his utmost ability when we traded value for him almost 5 years ago now. To be fair, he came in with the straggling abandonment crowd with Ristolainen, Reinhart and Eichel. So there's that. I have nothing against Montour or Reinhart, but I'm much more a proponent of Joe Pavelski hoisting the cup. I like Heiskinen, Hintz, Johnston and Oettinger as well. Dallas all the way.

If the finals are Dallas vs Carolina one of Pavelski/Burns will get their first Cup. Two old Sharks still have some teeth.
I can never support anything to do with Carolina due to 2007. Meh. No thanks, the Hurricanes can go down with their ship.

And ***** Brind’amor and his butt ugly mug and stupid apostrophe in the middle of his name.
Loved this post. I honestly prefer Dallas to win. If I have to pull for anyone it's Joe Pavelski. This man is criminally underrated. His game has seasoned like a nice red wine.

Love seeing two Toronto teams lose in a week. Leafs the Sabres are coming.
Not just that, but their franchise let it be known that they're not at least willing to listen on Mathews Marner Nylander and company. They're going to implode. Thank you next. Enjoy your golf Toronto.

What a great feeling, to this group gelling in the fashion that they are. Keep it up!

Article in the Athletic about the Sabres' approach to drafting and developing Russian prospects.

Can someone please summarize this article?

Our defense and goal tending side of things definitely needs some more youth injected into it for long term stability. At this point I'm expecting Johnson to leave and get the extra pick out of it.
Would you trade Devon Levi for Connor Hellebuyck with a contract extension?

Nope. Pass. I'll keep the development track and trade with other assets.
