Guys I don’t want to hear being drafted until 39

    1. Musty 6’2 F

    2. Dvorak 6’5 LHD

    3. Gibson  6’3 RHD

    4. Stramel 6’3 C

    5. Bonk 6’2 RHD

    6. Ritchie 6’2 C

    7. Stevan 6’1 RHD

    8. Mackinnon 6’2 RHD

Nice solid list too!  I'd like to say, Chicago is entering my least favorite liked territory in the range of Toronto and Boston.  Hah.

Look at the roster that played in front of Saros the last month of the season when they almost snuck into the playoffs, he may be the best goalie in the league. I'd offer 13OA, 6K, Savoie and VO, for Saros, Parssinen  and Carrier.

Interesting.  I might consider Savoie in that deal.  Possibly.  I'd still rather hold onto him.

For those who are dying to get him back: I was just on a Minnesota Wild site.  Marcus Foligno is a potential cap casualty from the Parise and Super buyouts.

I'd love him back, but he's not a great matchup for the bottom six right now.  Especially if KA re-signs Jost.  Where do you play him?  If he's cheap; sure.  I'm just not sure there's a concrete spot with Girgensons and Okposo re-signed.

Lance Lysowski in His Mailbag this AM purposed a VO, RFA Rights to Brett Murray and 2024 3rd for Pesce. That seems way to light of an offer.

It would have to be VO at 50% retained, Murray and a 2024 1st to get things started IMO

Gross, I wouldn't move a first for Brett Pesce in 2037, let alone next year.  Giving up draft capital for late 20's into their 30's players is useless.  I get it if it's for the right under 25 year old right handed shot defensemen.  But, meh No thanks.

You don't wanna see Bryson. It's bad, like I'd rather play Novikov right off the bat in his spot instead of letting him get ice time. I feel bad because I like Bryson but he's reached his peak.

I 100% agree with you LGR, I never want to see Bryson again.  Just like I'd rather we get rid of Stillman.  Though he's perfectly adequate as a 7th.  As for Pesce, he's alright, but I feel he'd be the third defensemen I'd want out of Carolina. lol

  6. Trade for the defensemen.  This years free agency is a cesspool.  They all have warts, and you'll be overextending yourself for something that hasn't been seen in a minimum of 3 seasons.  Dumba is an adequate 4th defensemen.  He's a decent enough physical player.  However, he's injury riddled, his offensive game has dried up, and he's living on previous seasons.  He's one of the top guys.  I wouldn't touch him with a fork.  I would pay some for Gudas, but he has to want to come here.

Sabres in the market for a top-4 D, goaltending

The Sabres would like to upgrade in goal, but our understanding is that GM Kevyn Adams’ top priority is landing a top-four defenseman.

On goaltending, assuming they don’t want to rush the development of Devon Levi, the Sabres need to get an experienced NHL starter onto the roster before training camp begins. Hellebuyck has to top the list, but he’ll be pricey. The Jets will be looking for young team-controlled assets in exchange. The Sabres do have plenty of those — from Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to Peyton Krebs to even Casey Mittelstadt.

If the Sabres balk at the Hellebuyck asking price, they could also get into the market for John Gibson, who will also be pricey and would likely prefer to play for his hometown team, the Penguins, but might see the upside in the Sabres’ lineup and consider that a better long-term fit.

Of course, surrendering zero assets and shopping on the UFA market for a goalie might be a better option. Even if the Sabres do extend Rasmus Dahlin on a monster contract after July 1 — probably eight years in the $10 million range — they will have cap flexibility.

Gibson headlines Ducks’ loaded trade class

The feeling is that the 29-year-old Gibson (No. 7 on the trade board) would be amenable to a move to a contender because the Ducks are not going to be a playoff team for years. His contract is reasonable — $6.4 million for four more years — especially if you believe he can still be a top-10 NHL goalie playing behind better defense.

Gibson has a 10-team no-trade list. The suspicion, though, is his preference would be one of three: Pittsburgh, Vegas or Los Angeles. He probably would be OK with New Jersey or Buffalo, as well, given their upward trajectories.

I wouldn't touch Gibson for a 5th round pick.  The term of contract, the hot and cold streaks, the injury bug that bites him.  Easy pass on John Gibson.   As is the case with Hellebuyck, he's a great netminder when he's on; but I'm not trading Devon Levi in a package for him, with or without a confirmed extension.
