  1. As mentioned earlier, yes trades that involve retained salary count towards your salary cap, and therefore salary floor. Once the contract of the player who was traded is over, we no longer retain any salary. As for retained salary helping us once we are competitive again, the answer would be no. Once we are a competitive team, we will want all the cap space we can handle so we can sign free agents or pick up rental players at the deadline. Also we will have some RFA's who hopefully earned some big raises that we will have to re-sign True, so basically a rental plus prospect. Which is the point I was trying to make. Exception being erat wasn't set to be a UFA, though I still consider him a rental
  2. He is going to report to camp, it has been confirmed. To ye of little faith I laugh
  3. Since day 1 the Mikhail Grigorenko saga has been a whirlwind. With the 2012-2013 season being shortened due to an NHL lockout, teams were only given 5 games to play there prospects, before deciding wether they would activate their entry level contract. Which in my opinion is the root of this problem. In those 5 games he showed some promise. With the situation the sabres were in, they decided to risk it and hope he'd be an impact player that could help them through some of Darcy's infamous "suffering”. Grigorenko's entry level should not have been activated to this day, but it has. He was in the NHL playing 4th line minutes with 4th line(or worse) players. I think the only reason this kid shouldn't be in the NHL is compete level. His skills, skating ability, strength etc.. are all up to par he just doesn't try hard enough in my opinion. "I came to North America 3 years ago coming from a home in Russia where I never had a bed, a shower or heat...I work everyday to be the best hockey player I can be so I can provide for my family, have a better life... Because hockey is all I have, my passion, who I am" Facebook post from Grigsby himself, posted earlier today(sorry no link and not the entire post) After reading that, I'm hopeful he will listen to management and do what he is told regardless of what he thinks. What he wanted was out the door when he signed the dotted line. Coming from Russia like that, I think he knows that he has to earn everything and nothing will be given to him. Perhaps he thought they way he played at the WJHC would have earned him that shot. That may be why is did the report to juniors, he may want another chance to prove himself.
  4. I wish I was lucky enough to be McDavid's butt buddy haha(no ######). I have no problem with you in the least, just some friendly banter. "Garbage" was not the correct word. While Loungo didn't have the tournament he'd like to of(exception being gold medal game) he stepped up and won a gold medal. The beauty of numbers are they speak for themselves, I'm not making him out to be a hero but his numbers are terrific! Just because a poster mentioned bernier doesn't mean team Canada's goaltending is weak! It means someone sitting on his couch thought he was a contender. I just disagreed with your comment that Canada's goalies are weak when one of the goalies you named wasn't even a candidate, and minus a couple bad games our other goalies are solid! For the record, when you say "Canada's goaltending could cost them" well with our roster, for our goalies to "cost us" they would have to play TERRIBLE so that's where I got garbage from, it was between the lines. If I did have a problem with you, it wouldn't be over mcdavid. It would be because of your constant derogatory attitude towards Canadians and Canada. I really don't know why you have a problem with my country and I don't really care. Let me tell you this, anytime I'm on here and see you commenting about anything that I disagree with, I will post my opinion, which I believe is the point of this forum.
  5. This is not the world juniors, where Canada's best players are unavailable to them. This is the Olympics, saying Canada doesn't get gold is a leap, saying they miss the podium makes me question your sanity! Miller stole the show last year and that's why USA won silver Wrong on so many levels my friend. First of all Loungo international record is 13-2-2 with a. 930sv%. Next up bernier is not a top 10 Canadian goalie and does have not a snowballs chance in hell of making this team, his not even a candidate. Loungo, price and mike smith will be Canada's goalies! While price has no International experience(excluding world juniors) we all know what he's capable of. Mike smith is 4-2 with a 940sv%. Maybe not the best goalies but certainly not the joke you made them out to be Yes, once you play for a team at IIHF that's the team you have to play for all the time. Even if pominville could play for Canada he would not make the team
  6. Very good point! Usually that's how it's run but Nolan likes to spread it out by the looks of it! And while omark needs to work on the flip side of the puck I believe he can and will contribute offensively! Plus at the very least the change of management and acquisition of players has given us something to talk about in whats been a rough year in Buffalo! Love the fact that we're taking the steps to improve
  7. I know points don't mean everything, and I'm aware 66 games isn't near enough to sample from, but this kid has a better ppg average then anyone on our bottom 6. I believe this was a steal of a deal
  8. Good question! So let's start with this, Flynn has played 32 games, and has 4pts!! Flynn is also 25 and is playing on our nhl team, when he should be in the AHL. So we move a 6 rd pick, to, if nothing else strengthen our Rochester Americans(they're having a decent year). However I truly believe this guy will be playing on our bottom 6. He has more offensive talent then 60% of our sabres! So if he's available for cheap pick him up!! These details don't usually surface for a day or so I know you and every other sabres fan is tired of hearing it! But if this guy reaches his potential(I'm hoping we give him a shot and he does) we got a steal of a deal!! Reminds me a lot of the McBain trade, tons of potential just unsure if he will ever achieve it
  9. Not bad, good bottom 6 guy worst case, possible 2nd line potential(for our boys at least)
