Lock your S-foils in attack position. We're going for the power play goal.

Good use of the deflector shields, Rodrigues. We'll get one soon enough. Bob is about to crack.

Wow. I hope they stop calling that. What happens in the playoffs with calls like that?
A playoff power play? ?
Nice stop, Ullmark!

I amend my previous comment (in a Roger Rabbit voice: This isn't it!)

Once it became clear that Ennis was protected because Minnesota wanted him as part of the Scandella trade, the anger evaporated, as the move then made a lot more sense.
But that was with the gift of hindsight. At the time we were eager to feel our anger and use it.
Looking ahead, as a Seattle-area person I'm excited to get a local team and to pillage other rosters. I'm also excited that JBott is going to have a protected young core and then likely a bunch of folks on one-year deals. If we swing a trade to keep a certain someone, that's good too.

The Panthers left Jon Marchessault (who had just scored 30 goals for them) exposed to Vegas so they could protect Petrovic.
Marchessault has put up 52 goals and 134 points in the 2 seasons since for Vegas. They also traded Reilly Smith to the Knights for a 4th since they couldn't protect him either because they went the 4-4 route solely for Petrovic. Smith has 41 goals and 113 points since.
The Panthers have been known to make mistakes. From time to time. Dear, oh dear.

Remember when ppl got upset we lost Carrier?
I'm one of those. I wanted to expose Ennis over Carrier. Still glad we protected Ullmark.

Hey, the old game day thread is locked. @sodbuster, consider yourself chili guaroed!
This hotel has a swim-up sushi bar. I am at peace with life. Thank the Maker! This hot spring is going to feel soooo good. Alas, another evening hot spring “tour” means I’ll miss the game. Keep on winning, I’ll stay in Costa Rica. In this case, superstition is ok in my book.

Ain't gonna lie. This post helps. It always helps.
Greetings 'Spacers from the Costa Rica system! There's now a Mrs. D'Ebriate. I won't be watching or listening or commenting for the first few games of the season on account of this (that's not a) honeymoon, it's a honeystation.... But before heading out into this tropical downpour to get silly on chili guaros and pina coladas before inhaling some flippin' fantastic grub... Meesa maxibig the Sabres! Let's go Buffalo! (as always, you provide the handclaps in your mind).

Reino's passes will find his stick, and we shall cry Goalofsson many times. 12 goals on primary assists from Reinhart alone. That's right -- VO and Reino will rule the galaxy as
fatherwinger and winger. I think Olofsson nets anywhere from 24-40 this year depending on health and Skinner's productivity. If Skinner-MoJo-whomever can be an effective line, then VO-Eichel-Reinhart will be excellent. Jack creates the space, Victor finds the seams, and Samson threads the needles.
If we need Skinner-Eichel together to keep Skinner at a 30-ish pace, then VO goes down to the lower end of the spectrum, but Reino will find him anyway (PP or Reino also to the 2nd to balance the attack). Reino wants his assists, not excuses.

It's true and it really saddens me. I like okposo
We all like Okposo. Well, most people like Okposo. By all counts he's a good player and a good person. He battles endlessly and defends his teammates (it still scares me whenever he grapples because of the concussion history). He's what you want. But professional sports are games of replacement and when you lose your step, you have to be very crafty to keep going. And when you lose multiple steps... craftiness won't hide you. If he's not game speed, he's got to move on (or be moved on from). It'll happen to us all... except those of us in survival suits who have lots of fake limbs and a Brand that won't let us stay at rest from a previous trilogy.

Same as always (this last year).

Eichel-Reinhart-Miller to start. I can dig that in OT., But Skinner-MoJo-Dahlin is also nice.

Casey Nelson on the radio... He's not near Yooper level, but he's definitely from Wisconsin.

Taro's right. Like, it's not the greatest disaster to ever strike an NHL roster. It's not playing Matt D'Agostini at 2C, or Erik Burgdoerfer (was that real or a fever dream?) in the top 6.
I promise you you won't die in childbirth! It wasn't a fever dream.
But it also wasn't a planned fever dream either. This is an actual 12/5/2016 defense pairing lineup: McCabe - Risto / Guhle - Franson / Falk - Burgdoerfer.
However, the following Sabres were out: Bogosian, Kulikov, Gorges, Fedun. So, it's not like the Burg was slotted top 6 to start the year.
GDT: Florida at Buffalo Sabres, October 11th, 7pm ET, MSG, ESPN+ and WGR550

Another good Ullmark save. Vesey was out with Eich and Reino.
