  1. Alternately, Dahlin-Kesselring / Power-JBD / Samuelsson-Timmins. I don't think that's as good as bridging Byram.
  2. Ryabkin goes to the Canes. Immature, but talented.
  3. There are sooooo many RHD on the team and in the system now. It's kind of absurd, particularly if Dahlin skates on the right side with Muel (or if they keep Byram -- which looks incredibly doubtful). It's over-compensating. And at the NHL level they're all RFA age, none of them slam-dunk top 4 (yet -- Kesselring could be, maybe).
  4. It certainly does nothing to dispel the fears of EEE (until they trade for Robertson and extend him, or land a real UFA stud forward).
  5. He's had a ton of injuries, but if he'd been healthy, Gudbranson would already be over 1000 games played and typically 2nd pair & nearly all D-zone starts -- though admittedly, mostly on poor teams. Gudbranson is not a PP guy (and Mrtka won't get PP time until Dahlin/Power are off the roster, which if they do finally make the playoffs and become good, neither is going anywhere). He's had a solid career as a defensive d-man, not a bust. I hope this is Mrtka's floor.
  6. One and the same! But, they're picking him up as 6/7/8 on the right side. The key is --- spend the money! that they saved from Clifton. If not, then it's the EEE garbage continued. That's how I'll judge the primary piece in the trade.
  7. I do like Timmins.... ... edit... (researched to confirm something)... but it's another push out of salary for a RFA. Clifton's 3M too much, Timmins cheaper. It's the standard Adams approach.
  8. Just posting this here. 6'5" 223# RHD EP quick writeup: A large defenseman with good leadership skills. Has a great shot. Gives a good opening pass and works hard in all three zones. A good skater considering his size. Could improve his physicality. Taken #3 overall in 2010 Edit: for fun, traded 5 times so far.
  9. He'll be a Sabre (unless he says he doesn't want to be here). The question is whether he is gone before he reaches his peak. (In addition to whether he ever really reaches full potential.) I think Mrtka will be a good player, but for the record, they need centers in their pipeline -- real top-flight centers like they once had with Eichel. McQueen might never be healthy, but his ceiling is a 1C. He was the BPA for me. And now, I hope Mrtka makes me eat it forever and wins multiple Cups in a Sabres sweater.
  10. Before anyone noticed??? Damn it.
  11. And Dahlin plays on the right side just fine. But the center spine is Helenius and Östlund. I like the Isles draft. 3 picks helps, but I really like Aitcheson. Eklund is great at 16. And Schaefer. Schaefer, Schaefer, Schaefer. Mental miss there. Edited and fixed... before anyone noticed???
  12. As a recap from earlier this year... his Star Wars equivalence: Radim Mrtka - MRK-3 Assassin Prototype. The MRT-K Assassin droid. It's a prototype. Joins BB-4, R2-D6, and Muel-PO. Makes total sense.
  13. McQueen. Get the big center to go with the smaller center. Malkin-lite and Crosby-lite.
  14. Just depends on whether he still wants to be here, I suppose. Or if Adams is afraid of paying him the future contract he might very well have earned by then.
  15. Should've seen if NYI was willing to move 16 & 17 for 9. Could've gotten Aitcheson, Carbonneau. Eklund is going to be a very good pick in the late teens.
  16. The Adams-No-Blocking-System can get him here in two, right after Kesselring is traded for another pending RFA.
  17. Nah. Mrtka is right there. Just move Dahlin to his natural handed side. Done. Bear is a Red Wing. Damn.
  18. Just like Power... who has totally learned. Bucci just said, "McQueen, Bear, Eklund..." yup. One of those should be off the board.
  19. Now I have the excuse to go watch more T-Birds games this season. That's cool.
  20. He doesn't have Myers' offense. He does not rush the puck (at least with the T-Birds thus far).
  21. <le sigh> He does not bring gnarliness.
  22. Look at all those folks hanging out at the Bills' facility!
  23. The Sabres always have a place for a #1 in their lineup this year.
  24. Back injury, then a muscle injury during the recovery. Seems to have cleared it at the combine, but it still dropped his top-3 potential down to... at least 9. It's all about whether the medicals clear him. If not, Bear, Smith, or Aitcheson for me.
