Fitz has to go help Rochester in the next couple days. Bryson wouldn't clear waivers. Some cap-strapped playoff team would take him for 7/8 depth and have him next year as an RFA. Butcher could be waived outright with purpose to reassign to ROC. I can't imagine many teams would pick him up -- even with NJ retaining salary.

They pretty much have to win both home games against Laval (tomorrow) and Belleville (Fri). If not, then they're basically down to winning out and getting a bunch of help from Toronto and Belleville losing all their games in hand. The extended injuries to their best forwards (Quinn, Malone, MacInnis) + Jankowski joining the Sabres for much of the season were a problem. But they have depth at forward. However, Samuelsson's takeover of the Sabres blueline has crushed Rochester (along with Fitzgerald's injury-related callup). There's no one else good enough to replace the loss of their top D-pair.

Probably the end of Eichel's rookie season where the Sabres were competitive and closing in on 80 points. Eichel and Reinhart were having excellent seasons for rookies. Lehner had a .92+ sv%. Things were looking up. The drafts are the best part of their show. (I'm fine with them; it's sports radio and they're solid comparable to the rest of the country. I know some folks despise them and my hope would be that even those folks can appreciate a good slow-day draft of... say... Board Games.)
