  1. The more prudent move is a Monahan + Martinook (the names/faces are interchangeable, but a C and a W) for the bottom 6, but another way to improve the bottom 6 is to slot in a true top 6 forward and push everyone down. It won't happen, but take a legitimate run at Stamkos. Cozens moves to 3C or the wing. Stamkos knows his departure from TB leaves a void with them, and his addition to a BUF/DET lifts that team that much higher.
  2. Can I interest you in some RFA and Zemgus re-signings news this week?
  3. And that's just it. Either enjoy the rental and set a realistic re-sign price/term, or deal him at the deadline when he's near 40 goals and get prospect/2nd to recoup some of what you traded. But everyone and their non-hockey-watching wookiee knows he's not a 3-zones top line winger and should not be paid as such. Fans don't deserve anything, good or ill.
  4. Eventual battler with Strbak/McCarthy for Clifton's spot. I like it.
  5. Possler pre-injury, Olofsson.... Zelenov's got a cool name. It has a Z in it.
  6. It's a shame that the Sabres or Devils didn't take him. If he ever makes it to the AHL, you get all the jersey sales of an Americans Satan or a Devils Satan.
  7. Still on my shopping list: a goalie and a junior Satan.
  8. A 2nd is high, but figure this is a player who will be a Mike Grier. Don't be surprised if Ruff plays him on the 3rd line as the gritty side opposite a shooting winger.
  9. Benson was visibly better than Savoie. (but I'm guessing Komarov is the superior player in this team setup)
  10. For those of us scoring at home, the two picks traded to move up to get Ziemer include the 5th rounder acquired for Okposo. Okposo --> begets --> Ziemer
  11. Isn't development spacing implied by draft year? Or rather, development spacing is implied in our mandate.
  12. Yup. It was a choice. Multiple times they made the choice to tank and rebuild and stay way below the cap. The players and their agents know it.
  13. Trading up. Super important player coming!
  14. But spent way, way, way less to acquire than TB sent to Nashville for him originally.
  15. Even Jeannot had a modified NTC with 16 teams. It's very unlikely he was going to allow himself to join this decade-long trainwreck.
  16. Simple... they'll just re-sign Girgs and move him to center (where he's not nearly as good as at wing). Problem solved!
  17. If Sergachev and Marino don't have Buffalo on their lists for their NTCs.
  18. Or in the Sabres Way... re-sign them for 2.2M and then again for more 2.5M in the case of Girgensons.
  19. And Marino. And for only a few picks. Remade their top 4.
  20. After sleeping on it, I don't hate the pick, and I do like the player. His combine was good; he translated for other kids and has a personality. He's a solid 200' center who projects as a center. I simply would've taken Eiserman and Brandsegg-Nygard before him. Maybe he's a 2C in 2028. My thought is cross-draft. If you've got Geekie and Nazar (2022); Sillinger (2021); and Rossi, Perfetti, and Lundell (2020) all on the same board, where does Helenius fit amongst them?
  21. NHL ready vs. playing in the NHL are two different things. There's a 4C spot open on the roster right this moment.
  22. This little one is not worth the effort. Now, let me get you something...
