  1. I don't know how to pronounce it, which is really strange considering how easy German usually is to sound out from spelling. I don't think his name is German. Maybe Taro can help us out?

Dry-seyetle. You'll hear it as "Dry-sittle" a lot, but both "ai" make a hard i. There was a foreign exchange student from Germany by the name of Alex Draisaitl at a local school. I've known of a Draisaitl and a Colaiacovo.

  2. I watch any hockey game that is on tv. It's why I bought game center. But that doesn't mean I'm going to fan boy over every other team in the league.

Same for me. Except replace gamecenter with "am a frequenter of firstrowsports." I generally have a team that I pull for in every game, but I don't get fan boy fever over anybody but the Sabres.

  3.

I don't believe that for one second. This team is a result of poor fiscal and player management by Darcy Regier. All the "rebuild" BS came after they realized how badly they f'd things up.

Well they're trying to be bad now. They weren't trying to be bad when the team was built. That's why Darcy was fired.

  4.

We are not allowed to enjoy ANYTHING until the Sabres are contenders again. Only misery should be allowed on this message board!!!

Well I'll just be tossing out this turkey today. Does that mean I can't wish everybody a happy thanksgiving? Because that's what I was about to do.

  5. Yes, thank you. That was a good find.

But I am positive what I heard/read/saw was specifically referring to the Vanek deal.

Maybe Darcy or Ted in a presser, or WGR interview?

Might've been somewhere in WGR. Darcy never addressed it in the presser because that news didn't break until later. And then Patty has never addressed the trade I believe. Would be interested to see if it's the same.

  6. Sorry Sabrespace I'm 100% certain I read/heard/watched that a day or so after news of the deferral option broke.

But I can't find it anywhere, so maybe it was a radio report, or someone speculating, as opposed to a news story.

Check my post. The Blue Jackets had to submit their decision two picks before the LA Kings selection. And they ended up choosing to defer the draft pick while the first round was going on.

I'd assume, unless it's a top three pick, that the Isles would wait as late as they can to make the decision because you never know who might fall.

  7. They have the right to defer right up until its time for them to use the pick.

Thought there was no way this was true. Turns out it pretty much is.

In the NHL, pick deferral has to be decided TWO PICKS before the selection is made. That's ridiculously dumb.

At least that's what Columbus had to do: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-05-10/news/sns-rt-hkn-jackets-team-reportsx7daa0a1-20120509_1_columbus-blue-jackets-los-angeles-kings-scott-howson

  8. No, I mean how high does it have to be for them to *decide* they want to defer. There's no way they'd let us keep a top 5 pick right?

Maybe they'd let us keep a 6-10 pick, if only to make sure we don't have both their 1st round and 2nd round picks next year (along with their chance of getting MacDavid if they suck again).

If they're convinced that Vanek is gone and they aren't going to be a landing spot for anybody worthwhile, I could see them giving up any pick that isn't top 3 possibly. But I think they'll defer if it's anywhere from 1-10.

It'd be interesting to here if the deferral comes before or after the lottery. Do they have to decide at the end of the year or lottery? I assume lottery but has it been reported when it'll come?

  9. Islanders lose again tonight. How high does this 1st round pick have to be for them to defer to next season?

Top 10, but they could choose not to. I don't really care what they do. I highly doubt they are picking number one next year anyways. Tavares alone is enough to keep them from being number one.

I mean, I'd like a little added chance at McDavid, but I don't think it'll matter what they do.

  10. TSN losing Canadian national TV rights (1998-2002) only bolstered TSN's efforts to be THE source of NHL news, says Bob McKenzie on twitter.

I don't know if they can (read: will determine it's business-prudent to) keep it going. TSN's been great, I'd hate for them to drop the ball or concede that the ball has been stripped from them. New deal goes for the next 12+ years.

The first one was too short to tear them apart. This one is too long for them to keep it up.

  11.

Not at all, the way to kill a walker /biter is to go for the brain.... Being underwater for that long would kill any ability for the brain to receive oxygen thus killing the zombie..... But this will be an anomaly, just as shotguns that have 30 shots and a group of people all being sharpshooters for heads jobs.... Can't look at this show as realistic, just take it for the fun ride it is

Do zombies breath? I have a feeling they don't have a need for oxygen, just blood and meat.

The guy in the water was obviously a replacement for the Gov's zombie head fishtanks. It also makes me feel like the Gov won't die because then it'd be almost pointless.

  12. I've just finally caught up on the season up to last night's episodes... I'm hooked.... It's not too unbelievable to see that the governor hasn't changed his ways.... I hope michone slices him in half, the next episode is gonna be a nail biter..... I hope Herschel lives on

Also curious to see what happens when Daryl finds out about carol and where she will end up in the future episodes, maybe coming back to be a hero/or becoming an enemy after being smited by Rick.

I actually hope Michonne gets shot. I can't stand her character.

I always liked Carol, but I want to see her make a triumphant return this episode but then die. Just because shows never do that.

My guess is one major death (Michonne, Daryl, Herschel, Maggie, Glen, Carol or Carl) and then two deaths of supporting characters like Tyreese, Beth, Sasha, etc. The family that governor has now taken in will join the prison, but the lesbian sister and her lover will both die.

  13. If for some reason Edmonton does pick before us and they pick Reinhart, so be it, you take the best player you can even if that is ekblad.

In that case you trade Myers, McCabe for young forwards. The league is desperate for defense and it puts you in a position of strength.

Personally i like a Defensive core of Pysyk, Zadorov, Ristolainen, Ekblad, Erhoff going forward.

If you take Ekblad, you don't have to trade guys like Myers and McCabe. Imagine a core of Myers, Ekblad, Pysyk, Zadorov, Risto and McCabe? McNabb, Weber, JGL, Ruhwedel add depth and pretty much lock up a good top six. I'm a big Ehrhoff fan, but I'd trade him first. Especially the way Myers has played lately (and I have been vocal in the past about trading Myers).

But I would be relatively upset if we ended up with another dman.
